HONOURING THE PAST, LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

HONOURING THE PAST, LOOKING TO THE FUTURE In 2020, Redeemer is celebrating 40 years of Lutheran education in Rochedale. At its inception, the vision for Redeemer Lutheran College was to be “a school firmly grounded in Christian teaching and faith in the Lutheran tradition, serving students of many faiths and of no faith. It aimed to strive for excellence in education, developing the whole child far beyond formal instruction in classrooms, science laboratory or library.”* This year, as the College launches its purpose, values and strategic plan, the original vision from our founders underpins our future.

A new decade calls for a renewed sense of direction and purpose. This strategic plan captures the heart of our College and unpacks the direction we want to take in the next few years.

The world of education and vocation has transformed over the past 40 years, but the underlying principles and values are as important in a modern world as they have ever been. Our strategic plan for the next five years continues to rest on the strong foundations of faith, education and formation of the whole person. It will see the College focusing on courageous new initiatives, which assist students to prepare for the future: a commitment to personalised and collaborative learning, inspiring professional development for our staff, and partnering with families and the broader community to foster lifelong learning. So who will we be in 2025? We will be authentically Redeemer: curious, courageous and Christ-led. Our new future starts here. Mrs Sarah Dixon, Council Chair

WHY?

Our purpose To empower curious, courageous, Christ-led learners who co-create and serve God’s world.

Our purpose sets out at the highest level why we exist.

Our approach

HOW?

We will adopt three distinct and mutually reinforcing approaches…

Our approach to faith

Our approach to education

WHAT?

Our three strategic approaches set out the key underpinning ideas as to how we will achieve our intentions and purpose. This is the fundamental answer to how we will deliver the strategy.

Our approach to formation

Our intentions (2020–2024) As we express our three strategic approaches, we will be renowned for:

Offering personalised and collaborative learning

Extending professional practice

Strengthening community partnerships

Deepening faith identity

Our intentions for the type of learning community we want to be—what we want to be renowned for in four years. These intentions set out what we want to be, and they are the logical expressions of our three strategic approaches.

HONOURING THE PAST, LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

Empowerment is all about fostering agency. It comes from bounded risk-taking, where we learn from our successes and failures.

Exercising agency is incarnational. It looks like participating in the ongoing creation of the world, and collaborating within our school and our local and global communities.

Our approach to faith We provide an open invitation for people to meet God in structured and unstructured ways. We recognise God is already at work in the lives of all of the members of our community. Our calling is to align with what God is already doing.

HOW? We employ three distinct and mutually reinforcing approaches. Our three approaches represent the key underpinning ideas by which we achieve our intentions and purpose. This is the fundamental answer to how we will deliver on the strategy.
