Not long after the hype surrounding Baahubali calmed down, its star Tamannaah reawakens the fans with yet another period drama. As the BO numbers join in the favour of Sye Raa, we wish our cover girl all success. Haute gives a sneak-peak into her action-packed world.

As our tourism is rock solid, there is a liquid state of affairs to talk of too. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has started fulfilling his pre-poll promises. In a move to wipe out belt shops and ban alcohol the stateowned Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited took over 3,500 liquor shops from private contractors and hiked the prices. The move has garnered appreciation from multiple quarters. But it also draws ak from a few detractors who question its crushing impact on ancillary businesses.

The green building with its triangular shaped roof stands tall in the sprawling 4800sq.ft gym that facilitates both indoor and

outdoor activities. Located in the VUDA Health Arena, in Sector 9, MVP Colony, it not only attracts people from surrounding localities, but also regular walkers. The gym offers an impressive array of activities like fitness classes, work outs with cardio equipment, strength and cross-fit training, outdoor cycling on hybrid cycles, Xbox fun fitness and boxing. The huge open space is used for cross-fit training. A perfect blend of red, black and grey in the interiors, gives a positive vibe to the facility. The state-

The Virtual Boxing machine (Nexersys) from US is an exercise equipment that involves striking a body size target on many target pads. This is for people who don’t want a personal trainer. The curved treadmill functions according to the human speed. The gym has experienced instructors Raju, Ramesh, Srinu (Crossfit trainer) & Saroja (female trainer), besides 2 national level sportsmen Ashok (athlete for crossfit, speed and agility training) and Vinod (boxing). The CRX mobile app keeps track of activity & diet. They are coming up with CRX Food Bay & a related app for ordering food. Right here in MVP Sector 8, Tagged Café serves the calzone pizza, where Italian pizza stuffing fills the pocket of a steaming hot kajjikaya. Another fusion to spice up the regular old pizza palette is Tagged’s Cone Pizza. Think an ice cream cone, but with cheese and veggies for ice cream and a pizza base for cone. Now that’s what we are talking about! HER CLINIC

www.redmagazine.in

mail@redmagazine.in

HERs ..

I

t is seldom that one finds a chic clinic of this standard in our cities. The look & layout of HER CLINIC is so aesthetically designed that the feel-good factor starts from the very doorstep. Dr. M.N.V.Pallavi, who is trained in laparoscopic surgery under the legendary Dr.Paul and vaginal re-constructive surgery under Dr.Pai Dungat, worked in hospitals like Tata Memorial and Manipal. Now the Chief Gynecologist & Obstetrician at OMNI RK Hospital, Dr.Pallavi has set up her own state-of-the-art HER CLINIC on VIP Road, next to Hotel Mantris. It is a first of its kind comprehensive clinic for women. Drawing inspiration from her mother Mrs.Usha Raju and her mentor Padmashri Dr.Manjula

Anagani, Dr.Pallavi has been nursing a dream of setting up a unique facility for women. A lot of planning and conceptualisation went into crafting the clinic that takes care of the health needs of a woman right from adolescence to menopause. Mothers-to-be are given that extra attention not only during the pregnancy and childbirth but also beyond. Besides experts in Gynecology and Obstetrics, the clinic has lady doctors from other specialities like Paedeatrics, Dermatology, General Medicine, Pain Management , Yoga & Nutrition. An inhouse ultrasound scan, laboratory and pharmacy complete the picture bringing all services under one

roof. Spread over 3000 sq. ft. the clinic offers professional medical services in the best and hygienic ambience. LIONS SHARE AND CARE

F

or ages, ‘the wall’ has been a symbol of generosity and kindness. Especially, for Europe and its benign dwellers, to whom it means a free cup of coffee. It is a norm in the town of Venice that when a café-goer orders a cup of coffee for the table, he orders one “for the wall” too. This means that a cup of coffee is sponsored by him and is up for grabs by any needy who walks in. A trend so perfectly in-tune with the altruistic subtext of the society never goes unnoticed.

Surrounded by hospitals all around, the Wall has been a benefiter of, apart from the deprived, a vast number of patients and their relatives who come to the city everyday in short notices and emergency. The ability to collect a required item from the Wall eases their di culties to a large extent.

Overseas from there, in India, the tunes of the bell have already started ringing, where Lions Club’s Sonia Chopra Jain, Board of Director, and K.V. Rao, Immediate Past President, developed the concept of ‘The Wall of Kindness’. About two months ago, the Wall of Kindness opened for the Vizag public, outside the Ramnagar premises of Lions Club. An open space for dropping unused goods if you have an excess, and collecting the goods if you have a scarcity, the Wall tries to eliminate all personal inhibitions, as it is unmonitored at all times. “Apart from clothes, we have people donating steel utensils, mattresses, bags, books, footwear, sometimes even rice cookers and pans. Anyone in requirement walks in and picks up what he wants. These take no time to get emptied, because every object you do not need has a person who does.”, says the Secretary, Mahesh M.Malla. The thought that people have the intention, as well as, the desire to donate, but just do not know how and where, resonates with all the members of the club.

Within 60 days of its initiation, t h e Wa l l h a s i n s p i r e d organizations in Bheemili and Gajuwaka to take forward the act of kindness. “We are only facilitators to this beautiful transaction among members of society,” says the benevolent President, N.V.V.S. Murthy.

For Mrs.Sarada, it was an unexpected birthday bash thrown by husband Ganta Srinivasa Rao, son Ravi Teja, daughter Poojitha, and some close friends. Novotel Convention, on this day, was full to the brim with a sea of well-wishers, family members and friends. Her surprise quotient increased as friends and relatives put on dancing shoes and performed for her. This was followed by a magnificent shadow act to portray her journey so far. Of course, before the highly awaited cake-cutting, there was another surprise. The guests took up the mic to share with everybody how Mrs.Sarada touched their lives. LUCKY FOR YOU: GOLD

It is a good time to start a new venture. It is going to be a beneficial period financially and emotionally. Travel plans are likely to be lucrative. Singles might be blessed with their dream partners. The relationship between you and spouse will be harmonious and joyful. Though slight chances are there to have conflicts with your elders but make sure to keep children out of the chaos. Things will surely get back to normal in some time.

Social capabilities will take all your attention and time. Meeting new people and building a rapport with them will be on the top of your priority list. This, in turn, will play a major role in enhancing your success in all your endeavours. There could be a halt in your relationship with your loved ones, but do not fret as by the end of the day it is your family and friends who stand by you. Finances will be no problem because of the wise decisions you have taken in the past. Employees are likely to earn a good recognition and financial sops.

May 21-Jun 20

mail@redmagazine.in

Independence is good, but it may derail your progress because of your attitude towards the fellow-mates. Try to maintain harmony at work place and avoid ego clashes. If you are in business, this is the best time to indulge in new ventures and climb that extra step of the ladder. Financial conditions will be in favour to support all your decisions. Singles will have an exciting love life. Married ones will also enjoy the romantic dinners and weekends. It is a great time to bond with your children and take them out for a holiday.

GEMINI

You will be more engaged in solving other people’s problems rather than focusing on your own. This might create disputes between you and your partner but don’t worry as your loving nature will bring a big smile to him/her. This could be the best time to try something new and exciting. Do not think of travelling as they may not yield any positive results. Finances will be a little tight for you because of your helping nature. Singles will enjoy their time without being committed in a relationship.

VIRGO Aug 23 – Sep 22

LUCKY FOR YOU: BLUE

Be cautious while making statements at social gatherings as it might hit you back. Your relationships with others will bloom as you will try to channel out your social capabilities. Employees could make good hang out buddies. The strong willed can change many things in love sphere. Singles can count on success in new relationships, but only if they are willing to compromise. Finances will face no problem because of the wise decisions made in the past.

A high activity phase is indicated. Be dedicated to work and don’t let petty arguments with co-workers distract you. Tackle people tactfully to avoid ego clashes. Business gains are on the anvil. Pay attention to health. A balanced diet and detoxification will help you restore it. Keep a watch on what you say otherwise you could land in trouble. Travel plans could take you to faraway places that may enhance career prospects. Relationship between married couples will not be good. It is also not a suitable time for singles to enter into relationships.

This is probably the best time to make new friends and contacts. Try to attend all social gatherings as you may clinch a great business deal in one of them. Employees will have a fun time at the office as they will be rewarded for their work. But don’t just sit back and relax, as nothing is permanent. It is time singles experimented & explored new domains. Don’t rush to judge people you hardly know. The married should treat the near and dear with affection and warmth.

Career will grab all your attention. You will be ready to face the financial challenges that might block your way. Tradesmen are likely to close a few lucrative deals. It is time they take advantage of opportunities. Personal relations may face some upheavals because of your negligence. But do not fret, as your partners are bound to feel happy once you are successful. More rest and extra care will be required to keep that energy going. Travelling might bring in great results. Singles will experience love at first sight in one of those gatherings.

You need to think before making a commitment at work because there are possibilities of uncalled for things happening. Business people have to be extra cautious of the new deals which are in line. looking for roles that excite you and take you out of your comfort zone. I believe that once you find it, you should never let it go. In this movie, I played the character of Lakshmi. Now, even though she is set in a very stereotypical time, she is strong and fierce. So, that had me intrigued in an instant. She is also a classical dancer, which meant I had to undergo a lot of Bharatnatyam training. This was challenging, because you just cannot go wrong. Not just because of the number of eyes that are going to be on you, but also out of your own sense of respect towards the dance form. But yes, I had a lot of support from my director and choreographers, and I believe people are going to relate with Lakshmi & take some of her back home. On Chiranjeevi and Amitabh Bachchan Mr. Bachchan looks magical in the film. And Chiru sir has such range and such presence that you can imagine how nervous I must have been during our first scene together. They are superstars of

www.redmagazine.in

On Sye Raa One thing about Sye Raa that I must applaud is that it has a thrilling screenplay. You are constantly on the edge of your seat. Secondly, it has a talented line-up of actors from across all the industries. It is, in true sense, a pan-Indian film. I personally feel like it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of something that is scaled so big. Another thing I am excited about is my look. It is very different from what I have done till date. There are extensive lehengas & Indian couture, and a lot of attention-todetail. So, I do hope people enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it. The film is a magnum opus. Were you nervous? Before the release of the film, there were butteries. But then again, there was a larger sense of belief as here is a story that the entire team has been passionate about sharing. Chiranjeevi sir, Ram Charan, in fact the whole cast and crew, have worked so hard to put it on the celluloid. Tell us about your character As an actor, you are always

our age, and yet you can see how they do not shy away from taking up different roles and going to any length for that perfect shot. So, that was one of the many learnings I took from them.

On difference between the north and south cinema This year I have a period film in Telugu (Sye Raa), an action film in Tamil (Action), a love story in Hindi (Bole Chudiyan), and a Horror Comedy in Tamil (Petromax). Hence you know where I am coming from when I say that it does not matter what language you create content in, as long as it is good. Especially after the epic Baahubali, I feel, the lines have been blurred between both the industries.

On Criticism A great responsibility comes with an actor’s job, and I believe that because we get so much love and affection, we should also be open to a little criticism.

On working with Nawazuddin Siddiqui For Bole Chudiyan, I had to share the screen with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. I had always been intrigued by his persona, because his characters are so serene and complex. But when I met him on set, he instantly put me at ease with his simplicity. He was so approachable and easy-going that we hit it off at once.

What are 3 significant milestones in your journey so far? Styling brings in small achievements everyday and every new event is a milestone. Most significant of the milestones in my professional journey was styling Freida Pinto for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. How do you balance your professional & personal life? Styling as a profession is very taxing. There are too many last minute things and it is very difficult to maintain a balance. So I advise freshers entering the field to stay focused, give it the best shot and keep taking holidays because that never hurts.

The curation of our show is such that no two designers do the same thing. That way we try to make sure there is always something for everyone. What is your partnership with Ashi like? What is the key to a successful partnership? Ashi is more business oriented and structured, while I am more creative. We strike a perfect balance to complete the circle and I feel that is all you need to excel. The mantra is very simple and it is communication, communication and communication.

We currently do shows in four cities. In the next five years we would like to explore as many new cities as possible. We want to ultimately take our venture The Dhoom Dhaam Weddings to the next level globally.

Tell me about your latest project? The last project we took up was the campaign shoot for The Dhoom Dhaam Trunk Show. It was shot by The House of Pixels, directed by Kshtij Kankaria and styled by me. We created some looks with the designers participating at our trunk show. The inspiration was to create something classy. Planning shoots is always fun.

FOR REAL

A

nusha Iragavarapu (I) and Abhinaya Ravella (R) are friendship goals. Both driven and ambitious women, they run a beautiful brand together,

even as they live on opposite sides of the world. Anusha lives in Hyderabad, while Abhinaya lives in the US. Their brainchild, Stylus, is dedicated to providing women with customizable, unique, luxury wedding and special occasion dresses. The duo believes strongly in designing for the real Indian woman to fit her body, her

beauty is in the details like luxurious fabrics, timeless styles, high-quality craftsmanship with modern cuts. With purposeful design at its roots, & watered by a solid

How did it start? I: I was working in an MNC as a pharmacologist but I would often wonder ‘Is this all?’ I did not like the idea of following others. I have always dreamt of running my own business, working in an “open” setting, and providing employment. That was how it all started.

pharma company. However, my passion for fashion led me here. It was not an easy step to leave a big fat paycheck to pursue my inclinations. It is all the more difficult when you have to start from scratch in an entirely different field. Yet, I went where my heart took me.

R: I was a fashion enthusiast right from the beginning and I used to play dress up all the time during childhood. At the same time, I was also good at academics. I was a gold medalist in my undergrad in Pondicherry University. I followed it up with a masters from Andhra University. I started my career with a leading

Describe your first steps in the world of fashion R: I was about to get married. Naturally, I wanted it to be a perfect day. My friend Anusha and I decided on a particular look and we then went on a quest to find that ideal dress. We looked everywhere, from regular stores to boutiques and even luxury labels but

partnership, the brand has flowered. The duo have styled celebrities and an impressive clientele from across the globe. Stylus started during the most festive and creatively fertile times of a woman’s life, a wedding. Abhinaya’s, to be specific. Find out more about them.

finally settled down to make it on our own. We knew we were taking a risk but we pursued every step with all zeal. We handled everything ourselves- from talking to fabric manufacturers, getting it dyed to perfection, scout -ing for embellishments, to finally getting it stitched. At my wedding, everyone was asking me where I got the dress from. That got the ball rolling. Anusha and I started getting requests from friends and family members to design something for them too. We started making these dresses on weekends & putting them up on Facebook. Orders started flowing in from friends, then friends of friends, and eventually complete strangers. That was when we thought, “Maybe we should do this full time.”

Tell us about your first collection. I: It was woven around dreams and was about creamy whites & pastel shades. The rush of creating something unique was amazing as we did it in 5 weeks.

R: The palette was full of celebratory shades of reds, greens, and yellows and looked towards nature & geometry for pattern inspiration. Inspiration behind your latest line In our latest collection Brissa, we have shifted from the bridal line, which is our forte and focused on the woman who balances many things. We went with fashion-forward motifs and minimalistic embellishments for an understated elegance. They can be standalone pieces or combined with accessories for a grander look on special occasions. USP R: Confidence. We design for a typical Indian girl, not for size 4 models. We want them to feel confident. The dress should accentuate her personality. How did Hyderabad receive Stylus? I: Hyderabad is a great market and its people are eager for change. They celebrate every event. However, over 50% of our orders are shipped out, and a significant chunk to the US. Where do you see Stylus in 5 years? R: Among the top designers in India, and as an international brand. We want to push the envelope on providing a great shopping experience through social media.

Any advice for young aspirants? R&I: Formal education is not necessary. You have to be prepared to take risks, and learn from them. You have to rely on practical knowledge as fashion is always changing by definition. How is the journey till now? R & I: When we opened our studio, we didn’t know anything about running a business but we had confidence that we would make it work. As our brand grew organically, celebrities started approaching us. Seeing celebs flaunt our creation on live TV is satisfying. We are also proud of our ability to give a perfect fit to clients who interact with us only through social media. Our large global clientele is a testimony for that. How do you balance professional and personal life? R & I: We plan well in advance. Running a business in a creative field can be very demanding. It is about finding and seizing the best moments as and when they come. It is very important to have a routine that leaves you enough time for unwinding and quality family time.

by being available for our international clientele across time zones. We have to make the best use of technology to collaborate efficiently. What are those three things not a lot of people know about you? I: I am a very practical person and a bit of an introvert. My most favourite way to spend a holiday is to spend time at home with family and close friends. R: I am fun loving, adventurous, and I am a huge travel freak. Describe your personal style I: For me, comfort is of utmost priority. I try to be minimalistic in my choices but I never compromise on elegance and grace. Pastel shades are my favourite. R: I believe life itself is a celebration. So I like to dress myself up as if everyday is a celebration. This reflects in outfits I make as well. I love making outfits with bright colours and intricate hand embroi -dery. Royalty & elegance are my forte.

How do you manage working with a partner in a different country? R&I: Basically, the difference in time zones is demanding, but we have managed to use it to our advantage

When we design, we design for a typical Indian girl, not for size four models. We want women to feel confident when they wear our clothing. The dress should accentuate the woman’s personality. Your fashion choices should give you confidence. Abhinaya Ravella
