What can’t you live without?

I cannot start my day without a cup of coffee. So, the first thing I do after getting out of bed is put on the first thing I see and head to the nearest coffee shop. Most of my favorite branches are all around the West Lake, which is is great because after I get hold of a coffee, I can sit on a bench next to the lake and search for some inspiration.

Where is your favourite night spot right now?

My favourite night spot right now is Carbon (BeiShan Road) – I love their food, service and the cool vibes. My favourite thing is the fact you can see the West Lake from their terrace area. It is a great place to rest your brain, and in the Winter has a cozy, comfortable feeling. Soft, relaxing sofas and chairs with Jazz music in the background - a nice place to spend some time away from the noise!

What food / drink are enjoying right now?

I mostly like white wine, but regret it the next morning when I have a hangover! For me if I go for Western food my favorite is Slim’s. However, they recently closed their branch on NanShan Road so now I have to go to BinJiang to enjoy it, which is quite far from me. For Chinese food my favourite is 新白鹿 (xīnbaílù

Where do you like spending time?

The place I most enjoy spending my time has to be the West Lake – not the lake itself, but the Tea Fields nearby. I really like hiking and try to avoid crowded places as much as possible. Right now, I go to Eudora quite often, not just for the food but also to see the band. There is much more fun to be had than going out just for drinks and food – enjoy some live music too!

Where is your favourite place to eat?

My favorite place is Wade’s Bar and Restaurant. Not only because of the live music, I just really love their big burgers with a huge glass of Hoegaarden! Also, the WuLin branch is pretty easy to get to, even by subway. If we are not only talking about Western food then I must say I adore street barbecue: lots of different herbs and spices like cumin and a big selection of meat and veg.

Where do you like going out to?

If I consider going out for fun, I would probably choose one of the Jam Nights such as Eudora on a Tuesday or 9bar on a Monday. I am not a very big fan of clubs and loud music – I am more of a ‘classy’ guy. When the weather is nice me and my friends usually go to LinAn Lake. The landscape and scenery there are beautiful: pine trees and a sky-blue lake great for fishing and swimming in with friends.
