NICEGRID DEMONSTRATION: A SMART SOLAR DISTRICT Project’s Main Objectives Demonstrate massive PV integration in distribution grids. Test islanding on a LV feeder Key Role of Storage Several Li-ion batteries (different sizes/locations): • • • •

TOWARDS BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES Emergence of market and regulatory evolutions allowing energy storage to provide services (USA, Europe‌) Evolutions require sound evaluations/analysis: demonstrate creation of social surplus, avoid market distortions Long-term contracts or contracts for difference (CFDs) can provide visibility for investment in storage technologies EDF has extensive international knowledge and expertise on these questions
