Curtis Reeser 11/7/2008 Although Anthony defends her argument that it is acceptable for the educated to be given more rights and privileges by society than the ignorant or uneducated, her stance on this topic is severely erroneous in terms of the basic human rights that all people deserve. By referring to the Preamble of the United States Constitution, Anthony portrays her arguments clearly, but her knowledge of the Preamble also shows the higher learning that Anthony has received, proving her bias. Anthony acknowledges that, “An oligarchy of learning, where the educated govern the ignorant…might be endured.” When the uneducated are deprived of their rights due to the fact that those who may be “educated” take them away, people must stand up and fight for equality. “[I] exercised my citizen’s rights, guaranteed to me and all United States citizens by the National Constitution,” declares Anthony. As she states herself, all United States citizens deserve equal rights whether one has a master’s degree from college or one dropped out of high school.
