ust five hours away from Kuala Lumpur, you will reach the top end of Northern Territory. Once there, you will be amazed by the veritable treasure chests that open up before you. Collectively known as the northern tropical and sub-tropical regions, these treasure chests offer gems that call out to the young and trendy, the sporty and adventurous, the family-oriented and the nature-inspired. Be dazzled by Darwin city and its shiny sunset. CHILL IN THE CITY Vast and awe-inspiring, the top end of Northern Territory showcases untouched beauty and UNESCO wonders, balanced by the modern trendy vibes of Darwin. Youthful and multicultural, Darwin boasts an outdoor lifestyle that

showcases alfresco restaurants, beachside markets and outdoor festivals. Hop onto a cruise and take in a gorgeous sunset at Darwin Harbour; there’s nothing better than having a glass of wine and a seafood tasting platter to go with it. If you feel like lounging, sit back and enjoy a movie under the stars at the Deckchair Cinema. Restless hearts may want to head to the Waterfront Precinct and indulge in a swim at the Wave Lagoon. Culture also beckons in Darwin and the various galleries in the city centre, including the Museum and Art Gallery, will satisfy art aficionadoes. The many cosmopolitan restaurants will appeal to foodies who want their favourite cuisines, but for a local experience, head to the famous Mindil Beach Sunset Market and the suburban weekend

markets in Parap, Nightcliff and Rapid Creek. Food is the main attraction at Mindil, accompanied by vendors displaying the likes of handmade jewellery, natural remedies and bohemian fashion apparel. Buskers, bands and other talented performers jazz up the atmosphere as you stroll along the palm-lined boulevards. PLAY IN THE PARKS Just 90 minutes from Darwin is Litchfield National Park, which shines with its waterfalls and waterholes. It promises a splashing time with the family as they learn about the monsoon rainforests and enjoy a picnic amidst the lush greenery or a swim at Buley Rockhole. Other popular spots within the park are Wangi Falls, Florence Falls and Tolmer Falls. Visitors may set up camp and hike the scenic trails, which range from 1km to the more inspiring 39km Tabletop Track. From there, drive on to the World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, where thousands of birds congregate in the lush wetlands, together with a rich community of saltwater crocodiles, barramundi and other fishes, buffalo and wallabies. Take in the wildlife with a cruise on the Yellow Water Billabong, Kakadu’s most famous wetland. The landscape is also the canvas for Aboriginal rock art sites; visit Ubirr and Nourlangie, and meet Aboriginal artists in their communities. For more information, visit us at Hall 2, 2228 - 2233

Wonders in Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef
Located in Tropical North Queensland, Cairns is the major gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, and is a favoured destination amongst water sports enthusiasts as the city offers a bunch of exciting activities including diving, sailing, snorkeling, cruising and island hopping
W
ith over 2,900 individual reefs and 71 coral islands sprawled over an expansive 2,300 kilometres, the Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef systems. Once here, visitors can expect to be blown away by the magnificent views and inviting atmosphere, that even for those who do not usually indulge in diving or snorkelling activities, will be enticed to slip into a wetsuit and discover one of the world’s greatest wonders. For travellers who prefer to keep themselves dry, there are other ways that they can explore this beautiful area – there are semi-submersible and glass-bottom vessels that provide popular introductions to the Great Barrier Reef; there are also helmet dives and underwater scooters, which provide fun alternatives for visitors to get to the bottom of the ocean. Here’s how to go about it: SEAWALKER @ GREEN ISLAND Perfect for non-swimmers or anyone else who is not confident underwater, the Seawalker @ Green Island enables travellers to explore the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef without any fuss. There is no need to learn how to operate or use any fancy equipment, visitors simply have to don a special helmet and walk along a platform. There will be guides stationed underwater to help those who require assistance.

RIDE ON THE SCUBA DOO For travellers seeking an even more fun and exciting way to explore the Great Barrier Reef, they can consider hopping on the Scuba Doo, an underwater motorbike that comes with a bubble helmet. Perfect for the entire family, Scuba Doo is a self-drive full guided underwater tour of the magnificent Coral gardens of the Great Barrier Reef – no swimming skills are required.
Enjoy scenic views with GBR Helicopters
HOP ON A SEMI-SUB Another way of exploring the Great Barrier Reef without getting wet is by hopping on a glass-bottom boat or a semi-submersible. The semi-sub is like a submarine, giving you a diver’s view of the reef – albeit in airconditioned comfort. AN ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME From world-class whitewater rafting, diving at World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef to Australia’s original Bungy, here’s a shortlist of what Cairns has to offer. CAIRNS ZOOM & WILDLIFE DOME Families with kids in tow will enjoy exploring the Cairns Zoom and Wildlife Dome. Not just your regular wildlife park, this popular attraction in Cairns is a spectacular all-weather wildlife immersion exhibit enclosed by a 20-metre high glass dome on top of the iconic Pullman Reef Hotel Casino. The Dome is also home to The Cairns ZOOM, the world’s first Challenge Ropes Course in a wildlife immersion exhibit, consisting of over 50 elements of crossings and ziplines, including one that takes participants over a four-metre saltwater crocodile named Goliath.

Tasmanian Food & Nature Trail A
Salamanca Market
t 68,000km² the island of Tasmania is Australia’s smallest state and while no place is more than 115km from the centre of the island, it crams in a multitude of tourist attractions. Hobart is the capital and the second oldest city in Australia with many heritage sandstone buildings around the docks being part of Australia’s national heritage. Over 40% of Tasmania is protected as forest reserves and activities in nature attract many tourists. It’s also the best place in the world to see the legendary Tasmanian Devil in the wild. Tasmania is the perfect place to drive a car as there are few cars on the road and with the many scenic spots in picturesque natural settings, it is convenient to stop and rest while taking in the views . Hobart has a small town feel to it and its historic dockside by the Derwent River is a focus for tourism. Fishing trawlers berth at the docks to provide the freshest seafood to the restaurants here. Coincide your Hobart visit with a Saturday for the fascinating Salamanca Market with fresh produce and unique handicrafts sourced from local materials such as rainforest timber. Mount Wellington at 1,270m rises above the outer limits of the city and in winter, it’s not unusual to see it covered in snow. Take a flight over the picturesque harbour on a Tasmanian Air Adventure seaplane that departs from the docks. Hobart’s Museum of New and Old Art (MONA) is now one of the hottest galleries in the world. Its spectacular location and architecture are without

equal. Being located in the Moorilla Estate Winery provides another important reason to visit MONA. Drive south from Hobart to take in the many attractions of the Huon Valley. Enjoy the thrill of exploring the treetops via an elaborate canopy walkway near Geeveston. There is also an adventurous hang glide through the trees and across a river. Get the adrenalin pumping on a jet boat along the Huon River and taste the juiciest orchard-fresh fresh on the way back to Hobart. Richmond and New Norfolk are historic villages near Hobart with many gracious and preserved historic sandstone buildings. In the Central Highlands traverse rainforest trails to the Russell Falls in Mount Field National Park. Succulent seafood
There are several fishing villages on the east coast with one of the most important natural attractions being Freycinet National Park where Wineglass Bay is considered one of the world’s best beaches. Enjoying the spectacular scenery is a must as there are walks and cruises that provide access to the tranquil surrounds. Another two famous walks on the east coast is the Bay of Fires Walk and Freycinet Experience Walk. Complement the experience with a luxurious stay in Saffire Freycinet, which recently won an award as the world’s best boutique hotel. In Tasmania’s north, Launceston by the banks of the Tamar and Esk Rivers, is home to vineyards growing on the lower slopes adjoining the Tamar. Visit the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, the Seaport Precinct, Cataract Gorge, Bridestowe Lavender Farm at Nabowla (flowering from December and January). Many visitors fly into Hobart and out of Launceston (and vice versa) to save back tracking. Tasmanian wining and dining at its best

Saying It With Spring Flowers
Get ready for a blooming good time at Korea’s 2015 Spring Flower Festival
P
ostcard-picture-perfect – that’s how it looks like across Korea when spring is in the air. Colorful fresh blooms liven up the landscape, bringing joy and lifting spirits with their natural beauty and vitality. Capitalising on the 2015 Spring Flower Festival, Korea aims to dazzle visitors with the country’s floral attractions and popular tourist spots. In the forefront is Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival in Changwon – Korea’s biggest spring flower festival. A charming port city about a 40-minute drive away from Busan, Jinhae also hosts the Jinhae Naval Port Festival in honor of Korea’s greatest naval hero, Admiral Yi Sun-shin. Yeojwacheon Stream – once the location for popular K-drama ‘Romance’ – boasts spectacular sights of blooming cherry blossom trees along the boardwalk. Another hot spot is Gyeonghwa Station. Although the railway services have been discontinued since 2006, the quaint station still draws in the crowds along its 800-meter long Gyeonghwa railway track that’s ‘pretty in pink’, blossoming cherry trees lining both sides of the track. Alluring floral landscapes abound at the Hwangmaesan Royal Azalea Festival too. Located in Hapcheon, Gyeongnam Province, the 1,108-meter-high Hwangmaesan Mountain (황매산) is known as ‘Sujungmae’ (its literal translation means ‘Japanese apricot blossom under water’) as the mountain’s reflection is mirrored on the serene water of Hapcheon Lake. In spring, azalea and rhododendron blossoms carpet the entire mountain and the valley becomes a refreshing refuge in summer. Fall too finds melodious birdsong filling its lush surroundings while cold winds swirl around the snow-capped Dongnipbong Peak in winter. Nearby Hwangmaesan is Donguibonga or Medical Palace wellness resort for those who wish to experience physical and spiritual restoration through Korean traditional medicine (over 1,000 years of history). Visitors may opt for their health and beauty treatments while cocooned in the surrounds of scenic Mount Jiri. See Busan in full bloom on the scenic route of Dalmajigil, a winding trail that runs from Haeundae to Songjeong. Commanding fantastic sea views, Dalmaji Road is nicknamed Street of Culture thanks to the art galleries and unique cafes such as Gallery Montmartre, the Korea Art Center and Chae’s Art Center along the route. Nearby is Moontan Road which entices couples to take a romantic 30-minute walk on its meandering path. Adorned with moon-shaped street lamps that illuminate the surrounding woods, it connects to Dalmaji-gil Road, Dalmaji Garden Trail, Dalmaji Oeulmadang and Kudeokpo.
Hwangmaesan Mountain
PAST MEETS PRESENT IN BUSAN For a blast into the past, visit Gamcheon Cultural Village, once a refuge for Taegeukdo religious followers during the Korean War. A series of art projects in 2009 and 2010 has successfully transformed Taegeuk Village’s once deserted houses and alleys into a cultural arts space. The preservation of old houses in Gamcheon also shows how Busan has progressed into the modern city it is today. Shopaholics will enjoy Gukje Market, Busan’s largest traditional market. Set-up during the Korean War in 1950 for war refugees to eke out a living, it soon grew into a large, busy market. Sited near Busan’s key tourist attractions of Bupyeong Market, Jagalchi Market, and Nampo-dong, Gukje Market was once the center of commerce for military supplies for the U.S. armies and imported goods from the neighboring port city. Today, it still has that old-fashioned marketplace spirit, similar to Namdaemun Market in Seoul. Vendors deal in new and used items for wholesale and retail so shoppers will find a wide variety of goods at surprisingly affordable prices. For those who fancy upscale shopping, Busan Premium Outlet is the place to be. Shoppers can satisfy their wide-ranging tastes and get the finest brands for a fraction of the price. Muslim travelers will find the small but ornate Busan Al-
Fatah Mosque a compelling attraction. The Islamic centre holds classes on computer, Arabic and English as well as regular Islamic lectures for followers of the faith. JOURNEY TO JEJU Famous for its vertical ecosystem of plants that grow in different mountainside temperatures, Mt. Hallasan is home to over 1,800 kinds of plants and 4,000 animal species (3,300 kinds of insects). Follow the mount’s well-developed hiking trails to discover the natural treasures there. On the eastern end of Jeju Island lies a huge crater atop Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak. Formed by a volcanic eruption over 100,000 years ago, the crater measures about 600m in diameter and 90m high, surrounded by 99 sharp rocks that resemble a gigantic crown. The southeast and north sides are cliffs while the verdant grassy hill on the northwest side is connected to the Seongsan Village; the ridge an ideal spot for walks and horse-riding. Springtime at the Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is a wonderful sight to behold as it’s covered in bright yellow rapeseed flowers. Continue towards the island’s eastern shore and you’d find Seopjikoji where green fields spread towards the cliff, up to a protruding rock called “seondol”. ‘Seopji’ is the area’s old name and ‘Koji’ in the Jeju dialect means ‘a sudden bump on land’. Every April, brilliant rapeseed flower fields flourish within the stone walls, blocking the wind along the road leading to the lighthouse at Seopjikoji. Go up the lighthouse metal steps for a panoramic view of the seashore. ver-changing. Always dynamic. Infinitely intriguing. In this vibrant city that never sleeps, activities run their course through night and day, keeping the pulse throbbing at an incessant pace. Be it a night festival, a theme park performance, a culinary tasting or just the sights and sounds of Macau on engaging themed walking trails, visitors will find many attractions vying for their attention. There is a smorgasbord of options for the night bird, party lover, nature lover, gourmand, adventure-seeker, shopping addict or laid-back vacationer. The manifesto from Macau is clear: experience the city fully and intensely. FANTASIA IN THE MAKING Already known for its dazzling neon lights highlighting the allure of integrated resorts and its many addictive activities, Macau is also the land of entertainment. The variety of world-class amusement theme parks that make their way to Macau attract visitors from all over the world, and families are bound to find their fantasy world that will engage them wholly. The latest that will make a splash in Macau is Planet J at Sands Cotai Central. Due to open sometime midyear, this addition adds depth to Macau’s position as the world’s gaming capital and fills the need for more family-oriented attractions. Planet J will add diversity to the Cotai Strip, and bring to the table “the world’s first player-centric live-action-role-play (LARP) theme park”. According to its developer Jumpin Gym Digital Entertainment, Planet J is “a revolutionary model” that is out-of-the-box. Targetting both adults and children, participants arm themselves with a Magic Scroll – a smart phone loaded with Planet J apps, which connects them to a master computer – and adopt a fantasy persona to act out a series of physical and intellectual challenges with the aim of defeating evil

these walking trails and enhance your knowledge of the city based on these themes: history, nature and creativity, arts and culture, and East meets West.
WALK THE TALK “Step Out, Experience Macau’s Communities”. That is another directive that Macau is throwing up this year, with the invitation to know the city up close and personal away from the glamour of the night lights. Embark on
FOOTSTEPS INTO THE HISTORIC SQUARE Although officially known as Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, this main traffic street linking Avenida da Praia Grande and the Inner Harbour is affectionately referred to by the locals as “San Ma Lou”, and is the

heart of historical Macau. Quaintly flanked by potted plants and street lights, the gravel-patterned roads of San Ma Lou will lead you to the General Post Office. Also, do not miss the neoclassical Leal Senado Building, which was built end 16th century. Directly adjacent to the General Post Office is Senado Square, one of the four largest squares in Macau. Paved in wave-patterned black-and-white mosaic, the square was named after the Leal Senado Building, a central fixture in Macau’s history. Senado Square is the choice locale for firework displays, and lion and dragon dances during celebrations like the Chinese Spring Festival and Christmas. St Dominic’s Church and Kuan Tai Temple are worthwhile visits as well. Continuing forward through Rua dos Mercadores, you will reach the Heritage Exhibition of a Traditional Pawnshop Business. Partway along the San Ma Lou, turn right into the Rua de Camilo Pessanha and you will reach a light green building that houses the Tung Sin Tong Historical Archive

AN EXPERIMENT OF CREATIVITY Start with Kun Iam Temple, which is one of the most impressive temples in Macau. Then, go down Avenida de Sidónio Pais, which leads you to the Flora Garden, where you can buy a ticket to board the Guia Cable Car, which allows visitors to gain an aerial perspective of the picturesque gardens below, and enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Macau cityscape. Then explore the compelling Dr Sun Yat Sen Memorial House and the scenic Lou Lim Ieoc Garden. Artistic creations then take your attention to Tap Seac Gallery, after which go down Calçada da Vitória to Tap Seac Square, the largest open square in Macau. Continue along the Rua do Tap Seac and you will reach Rua do Volong, where you can marvel at the St. Lazarus Church. One of the oldest Catholic churches in Macau, the St. Lazarus Church and Parish is a popular filming location for movies.

CROSSROADS OF CHINA AND PORTUGAL St. Augustine’s Square is a gathering of various traditionally Portuguese aesthetics – classic Southern European architecture paved by a signature streetscape of cobblestones and wave-patterned gravel. To the left of the square is the UNESCO World Heritage attraction – St. Augustine’s Church. A stroll down Rua da Prata will bring you to the Jesuit halls of St. Joseph’s Seminary and Church, to be followed up by a visit to St Lawrence’s Church. Walk along Rua de S. Lourenço and you’ll reach the lovingly preserved landmark of Mandarin’s House, the perfect example of East meets West in Macau. Nearby is the A-Ma Temple, a tribute to Matsu, the patron goddess of seafarers and fishermen during the Ming Dynasty. Already in existence long before the city of Macau was established, the walls of A-Ma Temple house a variety of pavilions dedicated to various deities and religions in Chinese culture. To cement your memories of Macau, spend some time too at the iconic Lilau Square before ending your tour at Macau Maritime Museum. A LEGACY OF ARTS AND CULTURE The Fisherman’s Wharf is hard to miss, taking pride of place as Macau’s first themed entertainment complex. Taking a left turn from the Outer Harbour’s Ferry Terminal, the wharf’s position by the coastline guarantees lovely seaside views, this sprawling 111,500 sqm area is characterised by Roman inspired architecture, complete with a Roman amphitheatre. Visitors will find dining, entertainment, shopping and even convention options here. Walk pass the Sands Macau Hotel to a large square – the site of the historic handover ceremony of Macau back to China – that features cultural hot spots. The Macau Musuem
Macau Science Centre
of Art covers 4000 sqm of exhibition space, the city’s largest display for local cultural and art relics. Nearby is the Handover Gifts Museum of Macau. From there, a footbridge over Avenida Xian Xing Hai (N.A.P.E) leads you to the Macau Science Centre. Easily spotted thanks to its futuristic silver lined and cone-shaped exterior, this is a favourite spot for school-goers, where a total of 14 galleries encourage learning through participation. These engaging tours have been so popular that there are now new tours extending from Macau Peninsula to Taipa and Coloane Island as well. Themes such as Enchanting Stories of Our Lady of Fatimah Parish,
The Marriage of East and West in St Anthony’s Parish, Bygone Days of Taipa Village and Nostalgia in Coloane promise to enthrall visitors to Macau. The various parishoriented walking routes introduce visitors to Cathedral Parish, St. Lazarus Parish, St. Lawrence Parish, Our Lady of Fatima Parish and St. Anthony Parish on Macau Peninsula as well as Our Lady of Carmel Parish on Taipa and St. Francis Xavier Parish on Coloane. Celebrating Thainess Get to know the seven elements of the Thai way of life while exploring The Land of Smiles with 2015 Discover Thainess
T
hailand takes pride in its inimitable traditions, beliefs, values, and customs – a harmonious mix of cultures intertwined with the quintessential Thai way of life. Thainess is not just found in murals or artwork, but is deeply ingrained in the people’s souls. Look forward to experiencing Thainess and its seven elements on your next escapade. THAI FUN With alluring emerald-green waters, powder-like beach sands, captivating sunsets, gentle winds, and clear skies, Thailand has become one of the most fashionable beach destinations in the world. From Phi Phi to Tarutao, a multitude of islands in Thailand boast beautiful bays, beaches, cliffs, caves, and offer countless options for diving and snorkelling. THAI FESTIVITY Rich and vibrant festivals are held all over the country yearround. Songkran (Water Festival) remains most popular, with people splashing, pouring, and shooting water at each other for three fun-filled days, as well as Loy Krathong – an annual festival where handmade lotus-shaped krathongs with incense and flowers float down rivers or across ponds and lakes to give thanks to the goddess of the waters and to seek forgiveness for past misdeeds. THAI FOOD The history of royal Thai food can be traced as far back as the sixteenth century. Royal Thai cuisine is prepared in a unique manner requiring special skills to cook, display, and serve. Only the best and freshest ingredients are used for meticulously carving flowers, birds and other elaborate animals using fruits and vegetables. THAI WAY OF LIFE Though the authentic Thai way of life is slow and humble, Thailand’s bustling capital is one of the Far East’s most energetic cities. Hop on a tuktuk and uncover the secrets of Bangkok and find a Thai experience that is uniquely your

own. Indulge in a treat or two as you wander Bangkok’s frenzied streets teeming with food stalls, visit local temples on national holidays to take part in lively festivals and temple fairs, and rub shoulders with the locals while watching local performances. THAI WELLNESS Centuries of collecting and practicing herbal medicine put Thai traditional medicine on the map. In addition to using natural products for healing, the art and science of Thai traditional massage is now well accepted around the globe. Renowned as the Health Capital of Asia, Thailand offers some of the best medical centres where the ancient wisdom of Thai traditional massage is incorporated into holistic medicine. Explore some of the spas at five-star hotels or other local venues to gain pleasure from the experience.

THAI ARTS Thailand is home to a rich and diverse cultural heritage. Thai cultural heritage takes many forms from tangible legacies seen in golden temples, royal palaces, Thai

houses, paintings, as well as arts and crafts. It is also present in Thai music and performances, and even in the ancient martial art of Muay Thai.

Thai Way of Life
THAI WISDOM Thais traditionally made their living from agriculture, farming and fishing. Thai children are still taught the famous lines, ‘nainaammeebplaa, nainaameekao’ (in the water there are fish, in the fields there is rice). Thai people regard this bounty as a blessing and have great respect for nature. Though urbanisation has increased rapidly, Thai people still yearn for a simple and slow way of life, succinctly summed in the phrase ‘sabaisabai’ (relaxed lifestyle).

TOP HOT SPOTS TO DISCOVER! PAI Pai is a small town in northern Thailand’s Mae Hong Son Province, near the Myanmar border, about 80 km north of Chiang Mai on the northern route to Mae Hong Son. It lies along the Pai River and was once a quiet market village inhabited by Shan people (ethnic Tai) whose culture is influenced by Burma. Well-known among backpackers for its relaxed atmosphere, the town is full of cheap guesthouses, souvenir shops, and restaurants. In the environs of the town are spas and elephant camps. Further outside of town, there are several waterfalls and a number of natural hot springs. As Pai lies at the foot of the mountains, many tourists use it as a base for trekking and visiting hill tribes like Karen, Hmong, Lisu, and Lahu. Another notable attraction is the town’s excellent Wednesday Market which brings large and colorful crowds of local villagers and tribal people from all around the Pai Valley. The area of modern-day Pai has been inhabited for more than 5,000 years. About 2,000 years ago, the Lua (or Lawa) Tribe was the dominant ethnic group over all of the area of today’s northern Thailand, and a few of their descendants still live in villages only about 20 km away from Pai.
Khao Yai
KHAO YAI Khao Yai National Park is in the western part of the Sankamphaeng Mountain Range, at the southwestern boundary of the Khorat Plateau. This park lies largely in Nakhon Ratchasima Province (Khorat), but also includes parts of Saraburi, Prachinburi, and Nakhon Nayok Provinces. The park is the third largest in Thailand and covers an area of 300 square kilometers, including evergreen forests and grasslands. There are 3,000 species of plants, 320 species of birds like red junglefowl and coral-billed ground cuckoo, and 66 species of mammals, including Asian black bear, Asian elephant, gaur, gibbon, Indian sambar deer, pig-tailed macaque, Indian muntjac, dhole, and wild pig. Its waterfalls include the 80 metre Heo Narok, and Heo Suwat made famous from the film The Beach. Namtok Sarika is popular with the Thais. In 1984 the park was made an ASEAN Heritage Park, and on July 14, 2005 the park, together with other parks in the same range and in the Dong Phaya Yen Mountainsfurther north, was proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the name “Dong Phaya Yen–Khao Yai Forest Complex”. As the lands adjacent to the national park are becoming increasingly developed into luxury hotels and golf courses, acquiring land for future wildlife conservation efforts is becoming problematic. Homes and residential villas have been built illegally within the limits of the protected area of the forest. Illegal logging is also a problem in the area of the park.

TRANG Trang also called Mueang Thap Thiang, is one of the southern provinces of Thailand, on the western side of the Malay Peninsula facing the Andaman Sea. The province is located on the coast of the Andaman Sea, and contains 46 islands together with the mainland area. Situated along the Andaman coast, Trang province is home to innumerable beautiful islands, while the mountainous eastern region is home to dramatic waterfalls, caves and pristine jungle. The southern coast of the province is protected in the Mu Ko Phetra National Park. The estuary of the Trang River together with the Hat Chao Mai Marine National Park and Ko Libong Non-hunting Area are also a registered Ramsar wetland. The estuary of the Trang River together with the Hat Chao Mai Marine National Park and Ko Libong Non-hunting Area are also a registered Ramsar wetland.
Satun
Trang was an important sea port of southern Thailand. Legend says the ships always arrived in the morning, which led to the town’s name - Trang derives from the Malay word for “light’ (Terang). The province was once a part of the ancient Kedah Tua Kingdom - A Kedahan-Malay kingdom. In recent years Trang has become famous world over as the venue for the Underwater Wedding Ceremony. SATUN Satun is one of the southern provinces of Thailand neighbouring Trang, Phatthalung and Songkhla. To the south it borders Perlis. The name Satun is a Thai version of its original Malay name, Setul (santol, or wild mangosteen tree). The Ko Tarutao and Ko Phetra marine national parks are part of the province. Close to the border with Malaysia is the Thale Ban National Park, a big freshwater swamp area. Attractions in Satun include the Satun Central Mosque or Mambang Mosque, Satun National Museum – Kuden Mansion / Istana Tengku Kudin of Kedah, Khao To Phaya Wang Public Park, Tarutao National Par, Koh Lip, Koh Adang and the Thale Ban National Park.

The Perfect Road Trip
Embark on adventurous self-drives across the stunning NEW ZEALAND landscape.
B
oasting an excellent infrastructure for selfdrive holidays, New Zealand is where one can freely explore a diversity of experiences without any fuss. And what better way to embark on a road trip than with a campervan. Touted as a ‘home on the road’, each campervan comes fully equipped with all living and cooking facilities, and for those who wish to organise a BBQ while on-the-go, they can make full use of the open BBQ and camp kitchens at camping grounds. Apart from allowing travellers to move from one place to another with ease, a campervan also offers the perfect opportunity for families to reconnect and bond. For travellers contemplating a self drive tour around the country, MAUI Motorhomes can make your vacation a truly unforgettable one. With three locations in New Zealand, travellers can fly to any one of the MAUI location, pick up their campervan and embark on their adventure. Don’t be in a rush to get to your destination – stop by along the way to explore the vast wineries, luxuriant rainforests and dramatic cliff tops. For more details, visit the PNL Travel booth during the MATTA Fair, located at booth no. 2031 – 2033, hall no. 2. Alternatively, visit www. pnltravel.com.my for a selection of holidays in a campervan/motorhome.

In full bloom
Be dazzled by colourful displays of flowers in South Korea, as cherry blossoms and other popular spring flowers such as apricot flowers, rapeseed flowers, cornelian, and many others, start blooming throughout the country, welcoming the new season
N
ature lovers mark your calendars. One of the most vibrant festivals in South Korea – the Spring Flower Festivals will be taking place from now till the month of May, and visitors will be treated to a rare sight. They will be able to witness the city in its full glory – awash with vibrant colours ranging from pink and yellow colours of the cherry and cornelian cherry flowers respectively to the velvety blossoms of azaleas in various shades of white, yellow, orange, red and pink. Every corner you turn in the city, be prepared to be enthralled by the wonders that greet you, from butter yellow to gold forsythia flowers, bright yellow rapeseed and canola flowers, and many more – even the flower beds in public gardens are exceptionally beautiful at this time of the year. In Seoul, Yeouido is one of the most famous cherry blossom spots in the city, thanks to its annual cherry blossom festival. In April, azaleas will bloom, too, to nature lovers’ delight. One of the most popular azalea festivals is the Yeongchwisan Azalea Festival, which will take place at Yeongchwisan Mountain near Yeosu, South Jeolla Province. The mountain is known as one of the top three most popular spots to enjoy azaleas. That said, travellers do not have to travel a long distance to see spring flowers or festivals. Try nearby parks, gardens, theme parks or forests, such as

Namsan Park in Seoul or the Garden of the Morning Calm and the Korea National Arboretum in Gyeonggido (Gyeongg Province). Apart from appreciating the gorgeous flowers on display, travellers, especially culture and history buffs should check out Suwon’s UNESCO designated Hwaseong fortress and the nearby Korean Folk Village when at Gyeonggi-do for a taste of Joseon dynasty
life. Other must-visit sites here include the Everland Theme Park in Yongin, the Seoul Land Theme Park in Gwacheon, and the famed Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) – a heavily guarded border that separates North and South Korea. For more information, visit facebook.com/SALAMKOREAPAGE
