Networking session with Minister Tan Chuan Jin Networking sessions were held once a week over the month of August and residents were able to spend some one-on-one time with Minister Tan, sharing about their daily experiences, stories or struggles. The event proved successful as many residents turned up not only to meet the Minister, but also to bond with their neighbours and spend some quality time catching up over good food.
The elderly were the ones who worry Mr Tan the most but he is glad they are able to open up to him and share their concerns
Smiles across all faces as Minister Tan shares a toast with the residential kids of K-CC

GOOD NEIGHBOURS AWARDS
Good neighbours awards Neighbours are very important, especially when we live in such a closely-knitted society and housing. This month, we take a look at some of our good neighbours, who went that extra mile to provide for others and help spread graciousness and kindness within the neighbourhood. Bonus: Interview with Shariffah Malikah Binte Syed Hussain Aljunied What is your daily routine like? I used to be a housewife so I was able to volunteer fulltime, but now I have just started working as a customer service executive and only volunteer part-time. Why do you think it is good to be a good neighbour? Your neighbours are your first touch. If anything happens to you or the house, your neighbours will probably be the first ones to help you contact your family or the relevant authorities so it is good to main a positive relationship. Who is your personal role model to be a good neighbour to others? My grandmother. I grew up with her and she has been a wonderful neighbour to other. Everyone will grow old someday and it is important to help others when you can now, for you wouldn’t know when you need someone’s help later in life.
Tan Siew Hong, resident at Chai Chee road Shariffah Malikah Binte Syed Hussain Aljunied, resident at Chai Chee Avenue

CHAI CHEE BLK 32 AND 44
Façade ART; one united K-CC “Big” was the theme explored by the committee leading up to the SG50 celebration. Big ideas, big concepts and big budgets were set in since last year to celebrate the nation’s birthday with a big bang. Also, a giant Singapore flag was painted and showcased at Singapore’s first HDB estate situated on the well-known reclaimed land at Marine Parade. This year, the façade art project was carried into Kembangan-Chai Chee to celebrate SG50. It is one of the major projects for SG50 PassionArts Month themed “We Love Singapore”. Both Ansar RC and Ping An Green RC collaborated with CCAC to produce the 2 art pieces, currently situated at Blk 32 Chai Chee Avenue and Blk 44 Chai Chee Street. The artwork at Blk 32 was created by the volunteers at Ansar RC and 100 residents, over a period of 4 weekends within the RC centre in July. The theme was “Singapore Our Homeland” and showcases the major attractions in Singapore after 50 years of independence. Some iconic buildings include the Changi Airport Control Tower, 18 THE TWEETER OCTOBER-DECEMBER 2015
Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Singapore Flyer and of course, the Singapore Merlion. On the other hand, the artwork at Blk 44 was created by the volunteers at Ping An Green RC and 100 residents, over a period of 3 weekends at Blk 43 Chai Chee Street, also in the month of July. The theme was “Hopes & Dreams” and showcases sky lanterns with hearts within them, representing the well wishes of every resident towards the nation. The main purpose of these façade art is to celebrate SG50 by bonding the residents together through a shared painting activity. In return of their hardwork, they are also able to admire them as it is put up within the neighbourhood, keeping the area unique and lively. As people walk past these paintings, they will be reminded of that special bond within them.
