MARTIN KNEATH PRINCIPAL principal-bkk@regents.ac.th

Dear Parent, As we move to the end of what has been a busy, productive and eventful year I am delighted to be able to confirm the completion of some new facilities and the further development and refurbishment of others. You have been watching the building at Gate 3, The Sports Complex, nearing completion and the plan is that it will open as close to the start of Term 1 as possible. Inside on the 1st Floor, female and male dressing rooms will accommodate those making use of the football facility and the tennis court facility. A comfortable restaurant area will enable parents to relax and enjoy each other’s company, and there will also be a covered outdoor space for parents to sit and relax. A sports equipment outlet will also feature.

The second, third and fourth floors will be developed later, with a number of ideas being explored at the moment. The tennis court will be next to the building and will be accessed from the dressing rooms. The development of that particular area will certainly add to and enhance our sports facilities overall. Discussions on ensuring that the appropriate level of security is maintained are taking place and will be announced in due course. The changing rooms adjacent to the swimming pool will be doubled in size to provide a better quality changing facility to speed up the process of changing after swimming and enabling students to shower properly before returning to classrooms.

Finally, the next phase of refurbishing the Boarding environment will take place over the long break in July and August, ensuring the comfort of the boarding community is further enhanced.

system, the BTEC HND is recognised internationally, meaning the qualification helps people move into the job market in a wide range of industries and countries.

You are all well aware of The Board’s appointment of Peter Hogan B Com, PGCE, MA as the next Principal of The Regent’s School, Bangkok. Peter is excited at the prospect of leading Regent’s, Bangkok forward and is a strong believer that it is our responsibility to nurture our students to learn and develop the life skills they need, not only for their own benefit, but more importantly, for the benefit of others around them, in their family, in their school, at university and then in their careers in the future.

The London Chamber of Commerce & Industry – LCCI - International Qualification range is designed to deliver the skills essential for success in today’s demanding commercial environment. By matching business skills to employers’ requirements and providing reliable evidence of candidates’ abilities, they receive international recognition from employers, educational institutes and professional bodies worldwide. LCCI International Qualifications are trusted and valued by universities, employers and professional bodies the world over.

The Board anticipates and is confident that Peter will be able to build very effectively on the work that I have been involved in during the nine years in leading the school. As you also know, I accepted the Board’s invitation, to take a seat on The Board of Directors of The Regent’s School, for the academic year 2014-2015, to implement the Board’s proactive projects and programmes to increase student intakes both in quality and quantity, to implement partnership projects between the Regent’s and Pearson Qualifications International including BTEC programmes and LCCI qualifications for business and industrial sectors. The BTEC HND is a British qualification tied to the United Kingdom’s vocational education system. The qualification was shaped using input from British industry and commerce and designed to meet the United Kingdom’s need for skilled, competent people in the workforce. People in the United Kingdom that are motivated to enter the job market often take BTEC HNDs instead of full degree programs. Being tied to the United Kingdom’s vocational education

This is indeed a very exciting period of the School’s development. I have been privileged to be involved in the development of The Regent’s School, Bangkok during my time here. I have found the Regent’s School Community to be forward thinking, outward looking and open to continuous improvement. I would like to express my thanks to Dr Virachai, Khun Thiphavan, Khun Rukshanok and Kwanshanok for providing me with a myriad of opportunities and for supporting me to fulfil their vision and goals for the school. I thank the parents for their continued support, the staff for their professionalism and dedication to the students and the students for inspiring me almost on a daily basis. I wish Peter Hogan every success and happiness in his new role and I have no doubt that The Regent’s School will continue to flourish as a leading international school.
