“The beginning stages of the D.Min. program helped define my leadership gift and lay a foundation for what the Lord’s done and what He’s going to continue to do hopefully over the next 30 years.”
For Mark Batterson, developing outreachoriented communities is a must. “I believe that a church that stays within four walls is not a church at all,” Mark explains. “We want to mobilize people for the mission.”
Knowing that he would need additional training to lead effectively, Mark chose Regent’s Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) program. He was drawn to the university’s theological perspective and greatly respected the faculty — some are now lifelong friends.
Mark has seen God multiply his influence with the publication of more than 10 books, including his bestseller, The Circle Maker, his recent title, Whisper: How to Hear the Voice of God, and Draw the Circle, based on his final doctoral project at Regent.

“I think that founding the church is the most important impact. Out of the church comes everything that I have dreamt about since I was a teenager.”
As a teenager in Norway, Pastor Oystein Gjerme sensed a call to ministry and searched globally for a seminary that aligned with his Pentecostal roots. He found his place at Regent University. “Regent has given me a great academic education in an environment of faith and vision for the kingdom of God,” he says.
Today, Oystein leads a multisite church that has grown from six members to 11 congregations throughout Norway. He also leads several outreach ministries — one with a goal to plant 400 churches by 2025 — and serves in leadership at the Christian college he helped establish.

“Regent was the final yes to answering my call to ministry. My Regent M.Div. degree was exactly what I needed to equip people in ministry.”
Motivated by her passion for helping others find restoration and salvation, Nina Anderson serves as a pastor at New Life — a multi-ethnic, missional, multi-site church in Virginia. “Whether I’m preaching, counseling or coaching, I use my M.Div. degree in every facet of my
career,” she explains. At Regent, Nina gained real-world experience operating as the school’s chaplain, training school chaplains across campus, coordinating chapel services and interning at New Life Church. Now she expands the church’s reach by leading and training others.
“Seeing total restoration and salvation is the most rewarding experience — especially when I’m able to partner with God by allowing the power, work and reconciliation of the Savior to impact the lives of people.”
