CHARACTERISTICS OF COCONUT Cocos Nucifera is the scientific name that receives the tropical fruit, better known as "Coco". One of its external characteristics is a thick and fibrous shell called exocarp and inside the coconut has a fibrous, oily and aromatic white meat, known as endosperm, on the other hand the pulp contains coconut water with an approximate amount of 300 ml per unit.
• Color: The outer shell is orange-yellow and its edible pulp is white. • Weight: each coconut can weigh about 2.5 kg and measure about 25 cm. • Flavor: It is very intense and its aroma very tropical.

COCONUT TYPES
GIANTS They are used for the production of oil and the fruits for fresh consumption. Its water content is high and its taste slightly sweet. Among its advantages stands out the high content of copra.
DWARF Due to the good taste of the water and the small size of these coconuts, they are used mainly for the production of bottled drinks. Copra is of poor quality.

Choose a Coconut that feels heavy and full.
A Brown coconut means White meat and a Green coconut means more water.
Analyze the coconut´s eyes, humidity and mold, if they are moldy do not buy it.

Store coconut at room temperature for about a week, in the refrigerator for 2 or 3 weeks and in the freezer for 6 or 8 months.
Best-before date
If the outer part of the coconut becomes gray or if the pulp becomes a yellowish color, the coconut has expired and should not be consumed.
