MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim Book by George Furth This amateur production is licensed by Samuel French MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG makes a virtue of spilt milk, sour grapes and friendships down the drain, in the opposite linear format of telling a story backwards. It may not be the usual formula for a Broadway hit, but Sondheim’s score was a sensation and as life is not a straight line, audiences found that watching how the story rolls back 20 years in the life of Hollywood producer, Franklin Shepherd and how happy he once was as the talented but penniless Broadway composer, oddly compelling. Merrily We Roll Along curates the key moments in Frank’s life, which point precisely to how he got there and what he gave up (…a lot). Rarely performed, when this was revived at The Menier Chocolate Factory, London in 2012 it secured sell-out audiences, rave reviews and a cult following. Directed and Musically Directed by Sondheim specialists Sarah Redmond and Stuart Hutchinson.

DOCTOR DOLITTLE “Hello to one and all. I am Doctor John Dolittle, a very famous Doctor. I’m a bit wacky actually but you will get used to that. Some of you may have heard of me (good for you) and some may have not - but you will now. I am not a normal run of the mill Doctor. I was once but I really did not like my patients. They could be quite difficult. You see I discovered something amazing, fantastic and down right wonderful about myself. Please don’t think I am blowing my own trumpet here but I found out that I had the ability to talk to and understand animals. So come and see me light up the stage in this magical musical adventure. This is a brand new show with original music, lots of audience participation and amazing puppets. I look forward to seeing you all soon. Toodle pip for now.”

The Musical Theatre Performance Company is proud to present the World Premiere of this brand new musical. Brought to you by the same team that produced the sell -out production of Legally Blonde, plus a World Premiere of Gulliver’s Travels in their 2016/17 season.
