History shows many women at the forefront of innovation and social progress, although their pioneering contributions and legacies in the advancement of our world are often unsung. In this context, Women in Marketing is a transformational force that consolidates, celebrates and elevates the rich talent, creative spirit, and impact of female marketers worldwide.
The Year of Exemplar, the theme of this year’s WIM Awards, is particularly fitting for recognising the wide variety of areas where women marketing leaders drive excellence and innovation and inspire and nurture the next generations of marketing professionals. As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Women in Marketing, the WIM Awards celebrate excellence at the frontiers of marketing practice, education and research. Marketing is about the creation and exchange of value, both within and between organisations, as well as for society at large. Women showcased in this year’s WIM Awards are exemplars of advancing marketing initiatives that create both organisational and social value.
We are delighted to co-host this year’s WIM Awards with Ade Onilude, with whom we share a firm belief in the importance of our discipline evolving through partnerships between marketing science, education, and practice. The contemporary complexities and pace of change in our world require rapid development of new knowledge, innovative marketing approaches, and stellar training of versatile and empathetic marketers. We champion this premise in our work as marketing academics, and our presence as co-hosts in the University of Westminster is a powerful testament to WIM’s commitment to promoting the mutually enriching collaborations between different facets of our discipline. We are honoured to have the opportunity to celebrate the exemplary women in marketing showcased this year. As our discipline evolves, we are excited to continue celebrating female leadership and innovation with Women in Marketing for many more years ahead.

Women in Marketing Africa
It’s always a privilege to celebrate the achievements of women in the marketing, advertising and communications across industries, and the Global Women in Marketing Awards 2024 is an opportunity to do just that.
Women in Marketing (WiM) has been championing the contributions of women and their allies since 2004. As Director and Head of Africa, I’m proud to lead the efforts of WiM Africa, showcasing the creativity, leadership, and innovation coming out of the continent.
Since launching in South Africa in 2018, WiM Africa has grown steadily, building a network and delivering initiatives designed to empower women and elevate their work. Being part of the Unstereotype Alliance in South Africa and the International Advertising Association (IAA) Africa Region allows us to connect with global movements that support inclusion and representation, while continuing to amplify Africa’s role on the global stage.
2024 has been a year of opportunities and challenges, with many of us reflecting on how we can adapt and move forward in a rapidly changing industry. WiM Africa remains committed to providing platforms to celebrate the often-overlooked contributions of women and to support those driving meaningful change.
As always, I’m grateful for the support of our partners, network, and advocates, and I look forward to continuing this journey with you all. Together, we can make sure that African marketers are seen, supported, and celebrated.
