BRIDGE THE GAP Taylur Holland

Running neck and neck With yesteryear’s breath Trying to figure out how to stay in your glory -So afraid of losing territory, And the new gaining ground. Running neck and neck With yesteryear’s breath Trying to figure out how to stay in your glory -Afraid of losing territory, You refuse to bridge the gap. Old needs new, And new needs old. We can’t separate the two. Perfect balance, no unjust scales. Each side, a spoken reflection of the other’s tale.

Old man, be willing to teach. Young man, be willing to learn. Old man, understand and remember your fervor. Young man, take heed to legacy and the foundation of experience. Old man, be willing to give. Young man, be willing to accept wise counsel. Old man, we will not forget you. Young man, remember the path the old man tread and let it guide you.

THE ART OF MEDITATION By Kimberly Moses Today’s Scripture for Meditation: Isaiah 26:3 says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Did you know that during the toughest times in life you can think about Jesus and feel a sense of peace? That’s what I had to do many years ago. I was 1,625 miles away from my family, and I was betrayed by someone who I thought would be in my life forever. It felt like I had a knife stuck in my heart, and throughout the day, the pain intensified. I couldn’t function because I was an emotional wreck. I would cry all day and lay in bed. When I had to go to work to provide for my family, it was difficult because I had to stop crying and pretend that the pain wasn’t there. I remember spending my lunch breaks in the bathroom crying in agony. Something had to change, and that’s when I started focusing on Jesus more than I had ever done before. As I worked twelve-hour shifts, I would whisper underneath my breath, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.” I must’ve said His name around 10,000 times the first night. I received strength the more I said His name. I was determined not to cry about the betrayal and loss of a relationship. I got up and made up my mind to become the woman God ordained me to be. I stood up and yielded my life to God. Instead of focusing on the pain, I thought about Jesus, who paid the ultimate price for my sins. I started to feel something inside of my heart that I hadn’t experienced in a long time. Peace! That’s right. I felt the

peace of God. I was able to function as a mother and move on in life. Whatever you are going through, meditate on Jesus instead of your pain and watch God give you peace that surpasses all understanding. Dear Heavenly Father, I humble myself before You. I repent for thinking the wrong thoughts. I will focus on Your love and promises instead of the disappointments, pain, or injustice that I experienced. I decree and declare that I will focus on Jesus, who is my Source of hope, joy, peace, and strength. I decree and declare that I will not be angry, bitter, depressed, or discouraged by the things that I have suffered. I know that You have an amazing plan for my life, and I will continue to meditate on Your goodness. Thank You for answering this prayer in Jesus’ matchless name. Amen.

INDEPENDENCE DAY AT CALVARY By Shirley Cooper

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) Fireworks, family reunions, concerts, barbecues, picnics, parades, baseball games and so much more can be stamped on the calendar as America celebrates the rowdiest day in the month of July of every year. Almost every family in the U.S. will spend this day gorging on hotdogs, hamburgers, and bags of chips alongside their favorite drink. Alcohol or nonalcoholic beverages hanging out in every refrigerator just waiting for the perfect time to be guzzled down.

The 4th of July, also known as July Fourth or Independence Day, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. This day in 1776, signifies that the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress. Hence, the Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and were no longer part of the British Empire. How incredible that must have felt for our country to have experienced such an absolute win? A win that spelled out freedom in a loud voice that echoed from sea to shining sea. Yes, what a moment! But as we take it back a few

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE JULY 2019

notches, we come to yet another incredible win that spelled “freedom” with a loud wail that gave the entire world a free pass to salvation. While America officially celebrates its freedom on Independence Day as a nation, Christ’s life, death, resurrection, and return are celebrated today by believers all over the globe. Jesus Christ gave His own life to bring us a freedom that can never be found on this earth. Jesus gives freedom from sin (John 8:32) When we view the gospel connection we find that Jesus first spoke these words to Jewish leaders who claimed to believe Him but did not continue believing what Jesus had said and walk in obedience to Him. The surrounding verses clarify that Christ is talking about freedom from the guilt and enslaving power of sinful patterns of behavior. The truth is that without Jesus, we are unable to escape from the power of sin over our lives. Through faith in Him and following His teaching, we can have true freedom. We’ll then slowly begin to understand that this practical freedom from sin is one aspect of the Good News. However, unlike the freedom won here in America and the freedom won at Calvary, I emphasize that only Jesus’ power can set us free from these habits. In comparison to both “Independence Days,” one took the lives of many, and the other took the life of One. The Cross sets our perfect example of how we should set our feet into motion and eliminate the issues that cause us to fall further away from the true freedom that awaits us. A Holy Paradise, a place where the Son shines brightly, a place where there is no more pain, no sorrow, no bondage. A place of freedom that is found nowhere else in the world. As believers, our faith teaches us that we can celebrate now that freedom will extend to the ends of the world. And as we imagine the unimaginable, we can smell popcorn, hotdogs,

hamburgers, drinks, games, children running everywhere, skipping, flipping, rolling in the greenest pastures, and playing with every kind of animal, while the Mighty Son shines down on our faces and every color firework goes crazy in the Heavenly skies as God’s children celebrate their spiritual promise in the most amazing day ever experienced by anyone.......ETERNAL LIFE! We as believers cannot cave into the yolk of slavery, bondage, or anything that holds us captive from winning the freedom promised through Christ’s life, death and resurrection. This month while American families all over the United States celebrate Independence Day, also known as The Fourth of July, we as believers ought to celebrate our Savior and how He gave all to give us our spiritual freedom at the foot of the Cross. We need to keep in mind that what we at times refuse to put down, He gladly died for. There were no bargaining chips, no negotiations, no small talk, or trades. There was a loving God who came to us as a simple man, doing extraordinary things, giving everything He had, to make sure that His plan of Salvation unfolds daily in every breath we are given. Not because He wanted anything in return, but because He refused to give up on the children He created. A creation that He calls the greatest creation on earth. (Genesis 1:25-26)

UBER Y.O.U. (YOUR OWN UNIQUENESS) PART 2 By T.N.Vincent

On the previous segment, we discussed the first steps on how to UBER Y.O.U. (Your Own Uniqueness). Just a quick recap to get started. In reaching your destiny we need to first call, connect and question. Once the Uber driver has arrived remember, sometimes depending upon the option that you choose, the driver (Holy Spirit) may pick up other passengers (business partners and/or prayer partners).

This leads us to step 2: collaboration and catch. What exactly is collaboration? It is the action of working with someone to produce or create something according to the 19th Century Dictionary. Generally speaking, according to Wikipedia, structured methods encourage introspection of behavior and communication. Collaboration specifically is geared towards engaging efforts in problemsolving. For instance, if you intentionally or inadvertently choose to rideshare, then

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE JULY 2019

you may have to collaborate with the other passenger (faith or fear) to reach your destination. Both of you all may be going to a different destination but may have to share the path of the journey together for a reason, season or a lifetime. This is where you must use discernment to determine the exact role that these “passengers” are to play in your life as well as your own role in their lives. The main thing that you must remember is the destination. Sometimes friendships may develop and you are acting with an “Abraham” syndrome which may lead to detours, unnecessary traffic jams, red lights, and an increase in stop signs while en route. One way to tell if you are to collaborate with someone is to ask them about their destination. Abraham was told by God to leave his kindred and instead, he allowed his nephew Lot to go with him. Bottom line, disagreements and feuds erupted in the family out of disobedience. Find out where the passengers are going. How did they get to where they are today? What are the three most important things to them on this earth? If we do more listening than talking, we can always find out who people are and what is really on their mind. The challenge with most people is they choose who they want on their team instead of shutting down their mind and letting Coach God choose the right team. Be willing to let God choose who you should collaborate with and avoid the traffic jams of destiny with chaotic people. Now, it’s important to note that when we collaborate it doesn’t say that we have to necessarily “like” this passenger. Because their role will not be the same as ours, we tend to forget that the working thought process to reach the goal will not likely be the same. God tends to connect you with someone that can see what you can’t so you don’t get sideswiped by your blind spots. Now, how do you catch? If you are rolling with a Spirit of Faith and the passenger gets in rolling with a Spirit of Fear, then this is not the person you want to ride with. This is not your ride or die. How about we ride and live, not

ride or die? Catch the right spirit of the person in order to collaborate. In order to Uber Y.O.U, in order to move forward, then you must connect Faith to Faith, you must connect Deliverer to Deliverer, you must catch Overcomer to Overcomer, you must connect Champion to Champion. When you have caught your Uber, your destiny may be wealth, your destiny may be planting churches, your destiny may be coaching coaches, your destiny may be leading leaders, your destiny may be restaurant owner, your destiny may be bank owner, your destiny may be 6-figure salary, or your destiny may be 7-figure salary. Whatever your destiny is, whatever your passion is, whatever your pain is, make sure that your Uber has the right

19

equipment. When you began to Uber Y.O.U. (Your Own Uniqueness), your Uber partner can’t show up with three good tires and one flat tire. Your partner may have three hopes, three faiths, and three loves, but the one flat tire came with doubt, disbelief and despair but no spare. Say what?! Now, we aren’t going anywhere because we have just made a covenant with an Uber that’s trying to roll on three tires and one flat. Make sure that the equipment is working properly. Are they operating with the fire of the Holy Spirit or are they just operating from smoke, the fumes of somebody else’s fire? You have to be submitted in order to function by the fire of the Holy Spirit. You can’t collaborate with passengers trying to tell the Uber Driver (Holy Spirit) which way to go and the best route. The Uber Driver has a special GPS and they know exactly where you’re supposed to go and the best route to get there. Beware of the uncommitted voice of familiarity that can come through family, friends, co-workers and the parts of yourself not sold out to God. This unsubmitted voice must be muzzled or you might as well issue a gag order on your destiny. Remember to Uber Y.O.U. (Your Own Uniqueness), you need the right equipment (Bible), you need to collaborate (Holy Spirit), you need to catch (use discernment), you need to walk out instructions (wisdom), and you need humility (submission). There are many more ingredients in order to Uber Y.O.U., but first master these and the Master shall become the Uber of your life. MACARONI AND CHEESE CASSEROLE WITH GROUND BEEF

I love to eat pasta! It’s comforting, and it’s filling. I can eat pasta daily, but I have to enjoy it in moderation. I enjoy tasting a variety of pasta coated in marinara sauce that has simmered for hours. The longer the sauce simmers that more flavorful it becomes. The herbs pop in my mouth. When pasta is covered in cheese, it adds another layer of deliciousness. My husband loves ground beef, but I enjoy ground turkey. However, this casserole bake is quite tasty. We eat it during a romantic dinner and enjoy each other’s conversation. We serve it with garlic bread and lemonade as our drink. Check out this recipe that I found.

Let us know if you tried it. INGREDIENTS 1 pound dry macaroni noodles or similar 1 pound lean ground beef 2 cloves garlic minced 1 cup diced onion 1 cup diced green pepper 1 can crushed tomatoes 28 oz 1/2 cup tomato sauce 3-4 Tablespoons tomato paste 1/2 teaspoon dry basil salt & pepper to taste

3 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided 1/4 cup freshly shredded parmesan cheese 3 Tablespoons chopped fresh parsley divided INSTRUCTIONS Preheat oven to 375. Cook noodles for 3/4 of time according to package. (My noodles said 9 minutes so I cooked them for 6). Drain and rinse under cold water. Meanwhile, brown beef, garlic & onion in a frying pan. Drain. Combine green peppers, beef, noodles, tomatoes, tomato sauce & paste, basil, salt & pepper, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, 2 tablespoons fresh parsley. Pour into a 9Ă—13 casserole dish. Combine remaining cheeses & 1 tablespoon of parsley. Sprinkle on top of casserole. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes or until bubbly and cheese is browned!

ANNICE SILIMON Interviewed by Anstrice Mcmilliam Epps Photography by Marie Thomas Interviewer: Thank you for taking the time to interview with Rejoice Essential Magazine. The way that I connected to you was through Periscope. When I first started getting on Periscope, I felt like the Holy Spirit led me to you, and I was able to grow. How did you know that you were called to ministry, and how did you know that you were called to be a prophet?

the lost through how you live your everyday life, through going to eat with somebody, through smiling at somebody, through loving on somebody. It’s not just giving them a word, and not just preaching the gospel. I think it was Billy Graham who said, “Preach the gospel, but use words if necessary. “

Annice Silimon: When we talk about ministry, you already know this, but my paradigm is when you say yes to Jesus, your life is your ministry. How you live your life is your pulpit; how you treat people is the microphone. The most powerful place that you stand is in the middle of your life, or your sphere of influence, because that’s where the real kingdom domain is built, if that makes sense. My frame of thought is when we say “ministry,” when you open your eyes, there is a daily assignment of that word. “Minister,” in Greek, means servant or to serve. Our job is to serve, to serve Jesus, and to serve people and we can do that inside the four walls or outside the four walls.

Annice Silimon: So ,when we say yes to Jesus, I believe we all are called to ministry. Now, if you specify and say, “I do full-time ministry inside the four walls,” then that’s making a distinction but you have a ministry with your babies, and you have a ministry in your marriage. Your first ministry is to the people who are inside the four walls of your address.

When we look at Jesus, during the times when He was walking, I don’t know if they would have considered what He was doing ministry because He wasn’t really inside of the “four walls” as much as He was out there with the people. The Pharisees and the Sadducees were the people who were “the people” who had the juice when it came to the scrolls, but Jesus embodied the idea of God and of how the Kingdom is to walk. The Kingdom is constantly moving. It’s going and reaching

Interviewer: Amen.

Interviewer: Yes, Amen.

Interviewer: Amen. Annice Silimon: That whole thing irks me a little bit when people are waiting for someone to confirm them when we should be pushing people to live like Jesus to the best of their ability every single day.

Annice Silimon: When we talk about any of the offices, I flow in a couple of them. When we go back to the first question, when Jesus was walking as Jesus, before the ascension, and He’s Christ. He said, “I do and say what I see my Father see and say.” Because He did what He did, and we see how He governed Himself. Now we’re saying, “I do and say what I see Christ do and say.” How Jesus walked is

34

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE JULY 2019

the expectation and the standard for how I live my life, not how I do ministry. When we see Jesus moving through ministry, this is how He is really living His life. Jesus was more than a Pastor, Prophet, Apostle, Teacher, and Evangelist. He was King and Priest. Interviewer: Amen. Annice Silimon: My thing is telling people, “Let’s not rush for an office. Let’s pant after modeling our lives after the pattern of how Jesus walked so that we can have the success rate that God wants.” When you put yourself in an office, it cuts the Holy Spirit off from really using you. When I look at the Scripture, I see Jesus as the Evangelist. I see Jesus as the Teacher. I see Jesus as the Prophet. I see Jesus as the Apostle. I see Jesus as the Pastor. I see Jesus as the Son of God. I see Jesus as the Image of God, and I see Jesus as the Word of God. When I see Him, in the earth walking as all those things, that’s the prize. That’s what we’re striving for. Interviewer: Amen. That makes sense because we do look for validation. I know I’m guilty of that, or want it to be affirmed, but God just wants us to be accessible. He just wants us to be able to be accessible and not get caught up so much in the titles; just get caught up in what He wants to do in our everyday life, so that’s powerful and that’s so true. If we can get past that, we can do more work and save more souls. Annice Silimon: Yes. God will send people to confirm and affirm you, but they have to have the heart of Jesus. They cannot have the heart to hold you back. They cannot have the heart of “I put you under me, and I’m going to use your gifting,” or “I’m going to tell you that you don’t have a gift,” or “I’m going to minimize your gifting,” or “I’m going to gauge your gifting.” Until we see the true Jesus, we won’t see someone who is making the disciples go and do. We see Jesus bringing the disciples to Him and pouring into them everything that they needed and affirming them, “By greater

“How you live

your life is your pulpit; how you treat people is the microphone.

works, by numbers, you shall do than these.” When we go to the last chapter of St. John, it says that all of the miracles Jesus did cannot be contained in all the books and in all the world. He looked at the disciples and said, “Listen, by number, you do greater works than these,” but we don’t see that a lot. We see people trying to build mini-me’s and what ends up happening is the world is dying because we need to let the people go. What happens when the church becomes Pharaoh? Interviewer: Wow, Amen. That is true, and I can attest to that. Recently, I had to learn the hard way to let God be the voice in my life and we’re just vessels. The person that’s coming to you is the vessel but ultimately, His voice is all powerful. So since that was a two part question, how did you know that you were called to be a prophet? Annice Silimon: You know, I have a story about intercession, and I was an intercessor in prayer. You have the five fold, the fingers, and the palm is prayer. Prayer is the gateway, the entryway, into the movement of the gift that belongs to the Holy Spirit. We will not function fully, or we will not flow uninterrupted, if there is an absence of prayer. When we look at Jesus being fully developed, it’s that communion piece of running after God, panting after

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE JULY 2019

35

36

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE JULY 2019

God, and being consumed with God. Then, I’m functioning in whatever the Holy Spirit wants me to function in that day. Interviewer: Amen. Annice Silimon: I know it messes people up, when we talk about dream interpretation. Am I really interpreting your dream right or is it just the prophetic? I know when people ask me about being in the office of a prophet, I say “Am I really sitting in the office of a prophet, or is it because of prayer and communion?” I get access to the super counsel of God, who knows? So I’ll say the textbook answer. When we were born, those things that are on us always grow with us. Just like when we’re born, we’re born with demons, and that sort of thing. They grow, they grow older, they mature, and they get rooted in the character of a person. When we look back as kids, we can see the prophetic norm and we can see the dreamer. Most prophetic people dream dreams. Do you know the seer anointing? All of that is the Word of God, just in pictures, so it’s a form of the prophetic. So when you look back over your life, to the people who are like, “I really want to know the Word of God, the picture of the Word of God, supernatural encounters” that bring you into the place of transcribing who He is, what He is, where He is, the domain and reign of God, and you see that He’s always following you, then that gift is present. But, again, we’re striving to model Jesus because I feel like this era is kind of growing out of it. I pray because it seems like we rush over every other gift and everybody just wants to be a prophet. Keep the pastor, give me a prophet. Keep the evangelist, give me a prophet. Keep the teacher, give me a prophet. Keep the apostle, give me a prophet. That’s what seems to be glorified in this day and age but there’s something about a person who can teach. But I’m also a teacher. I’m also a pastor. I’m also a builder. I’m also very apostolic and so the thing is, I’m not looking at those

gifts because they belong to the Holy Spirit. I’m looking at the Holy Spirit and I’m saying, “I belong to you too. So whatever you have need of me, Holy Spirit, I’m down for the ride.” Interviewer: Amen. The Lord said, “I Am that I Am” so whatever we need at that moment is what the Holy Spirit will provide. That’s a powerful way to say and to express that because we do lust for it. I don’t think we realize it, but we lust for titles or affirmations. Annice Silimon: Especially the prophetic and what happens is you have a lot of people who are crossing over into the psychic world because we’re being pushed into the prophetic. On Periscope, right now, we’re talking about Judges 17, Micah, and the Levite. We’re dedicating these monies to God but then we take it and, “Can we have a house, God? Can we have money, God?” We take a molten image and a graven image and we make our own ephod. We carry our own kids as a priest when it’s the Levite who is the only consecrated one who hires himself out. You don’t have a portion. If you’re a Levite, God is your portion. Interviewer: Amen. Annice Silimon: You are the portion of God. The office of the prophet has become a graven image. We could care less about the commune of God. We could care less about the people of God. We want the accolade, and we want pats on the back that this somehow brings us a more celebrated identity; that office belongs to the Holy Spirit. Interviewer: Amen. Annice Silimon: And you don’t want to crossover into that. That’s why when people ask, “Help me with my gift,” they immediately go to the apostolic or the prophetic. God is going to use you, how He wants to use you, and when He’s going to use you. When you’re a prophetic person, you don’t turn it on and off, but you’re not walking around looking to give

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE JULY 2019

people a word. You’re walking around looking to give people Christ, the Word. I can do that with a smile, I can do that in friendship, I can do that with a head nod, or I can do that with paying for somebody’s stuff, and I’m doing a prophetic act that’s opening the door for that person so that they will never know I’m never saying “I am the prophet of your life.” None of that stuff. You have to be very careful because what will happen is you’ll be pushed over into accessing the realm of the soul, so let’s talk about this. When God created Adam, He breathed into Adam the ability to have, to be able to know, and to see. When God created Adam and Eve, He blew into them not “Ruah,” but the Hebrew word for divine intellect and divine inspiration. It’s in the DNA of the soul but when man fell, those things are still in the soul so there’s a level of knowing that we all have. Interviewer: Yes. Annice Similon: There’s a level of natural discernment that comes inside of every single human being. Oftentimes, we push prophets into pulling a word out of that place in the soul or just being able to know their own “Sophia,” and out their own wisdom. It’s there that we have the ability to move in a realm of knowing, but that knowing is not bringing glory to God. That’s how you know if what I’m doing is that of a prophet. As I’m giving prophecy, is it from God? Do I lead people back to God, am I leading people to themselves, or am I leading people to me? When you are finished listening to a prophecy, what does it make you do? Fall to your knees and go cry out to God, go home and begin to fast or are you awe struck and dumb struck that this person was able to “read you.” Do you feel puffed up in your own self as if God has said patted you on the head and said, “You are great and you are glorious?” Prophecy is really a very weighty moment whenever we receive a word of the Lord. That’s why it’s so dangerous to run from prophet to prophet because it is a command. It is what you’re supposed to be producing. Take Jesus and the fig tree. He

Most “ prophetic

“ The office of

junkies.” Annice Similon: Right. Interviewer: So since we are here, I ask this question: What do you think about prayer? I know you pray because I have been watching your Periscopes for a long time and they have blessed me. They helped me grow into the things of God. As far as prayer is concerned, how can we get back to the basics of prayer? That’s really where the Holy Spirit, in my opinion, starts to unfold, and you said that earlier. So how can we, as a body of Christ, get back to the basics of prayer? Annice Similon: I’ll say this: prayer has opened so many gates, doors, and portals. Interviewer: Yes.

Annice Silimon: Because, remember, we talked about the five fold and the palm being prayer, right? That’s why, a lot of times in churches, we see the prayer leader and the Pastor be almost in competition because prayer brings keys; whoever has keys, has Interviewer: Amen. power and influence. If there’s not always prayer in the simplest beautiful, prettiest, holiAnnice Silimon: So we’re not producing the providential will of God. Sometimes, we get a est, magnificent form, it’s communion. There prophecy and we feel like it’s a strong sugges- has to be a desire for prayer. I don’t know who said this, but there’s a leadership quote that tion of heaven. We get prophecy and we feel like it’s something to make us feel good. That’s says, “If you want to build a boat, and you why we have a generation of people who get have a team to build the boat.” You just don’t high off prophecy, but they don’t understand say, “Ok, you, get the nails. out of your presence, I don’t care what you’re doing. I don’t care if it’s secular in nature, but it’s still ministry. I don’t care if it’s the four walls ministry. I don’t care if it’s on the phone..., whatever it is it. When people leave your presence, there should’ve been an epic adventure like, “Wow, I just met with God and I want more of Him.” Interviewer: Amen.

Annice Silimon: So there’s gotta be this impartation of a desire to know who He is and how He is. When we see Jesus stealing away, when we see Jesus going to the mountains, and when we see Jesus, we see how Jesus functioned. He wasn’t out there praying for people, “Father, in My Name..., give Me some other oil from somewhere. Let Me slap them down five times and then yell, “Come out,” or yell, “Be healed.” He’s not doing any of that. He just says, “Hey, you want to be whole?” or

“Hey, who touched me? Your faith has healed you.” When He gets to the tomb of Lazarus, He groans within Himself because of all of the people who believed Lazarus was dead. He understands that this is a picture of them not understanding. They don’t have the understanding of who God is, how God is, and how amazing the Father is. He’s groaning within Himself because they don’t understand, so He is giving us a picture. He has to stand as an intercessor at the tomb of Lazarus. Interviewer: Amen. Annice Silimon: He stood as an intercessor and because of His knowledge of the Father, He showed them the Father. He was showing the heart of God. He was showing the power of God. He was showing the Sovereignty of God to all of these unbelievers who should have known Him. Interviewer: Amen to that, they should have known Him! Annice Silimon: Then, the Bible says that after Lazarus was raised, the people looked on Lazarus and they believed. So when we talk about prayer, prayer is communion. The more I commune with Him, the more I’m transformed to understand Him. Understanding and wisdom comes from communion. Interviewer: Amen. Annice Silimon: You’re married, and it is in communion that you understand your partner. You must sit, stand, be, and live in the presence of your partner so that you can function as this person as you go out into the world. When we talk about what prayer, really, is, it is Jesus. He functioned at the heart of God. He functioned as the Sovereign Creator’s mind as He walked the earth, and that’s what we’re supposed to do. But, you cannot do that without communion, and that’s what it is. It’s Him speaking. It’s you being transformed and then taking that transformation, in turn, inscribing it into works, into activities, and

action that brings the Kingdom to the earth. There’s so much more than what we wished into some itty bitty box. It’s understanding bits and pieces of heaven as much as we can contain, and dancing through those bits and pieces as we live on this side of glory. Interviewer: Amen, wow. That’s another perspective, but we do limit God. We do tend to put Him in a box, and He cannot be contained. Once we take the lid off of Him, we will be able to flow better with the Holy Spirit, as far as communing with Him, so I do agree with that. So prayer, we know that’s the center of being able to even walk in the purpose that God has for us. How would you say that we can equip the body of Christ through prayer and through intercession? Annice Silimon: It has to be prayer that is there. The same way you need air when you’re walking throughout your day, that’s prayer. Interviewer: Amen. Annice Similon: There has to be an understanding of the need for air to live. We see people not living because they don’t have any prayer, and they don’t have communion. There’s a commentary I was reading and it said “God created man in His image, but since the fall of man, man has taken God and has made Him into their image.” So we dimmed God. We put God in a box. We put prayer in a box because God is in a box. We gotta go back to every person who is responsible, and that’s all of us, for leading people to God. That’s all I’m doing. I’m leading people to Jesus. That’s it: saved and unsaved. We’re all going to Jesus. I don’t believe in a lifestyle of prayer, I don’t believe in it. People say, “You have to have a lifestyle of prayer,” but I don’t believe in it. I believe I am prayer. What is prayer? Prayer is God speaking and God pouring out answers. You are only here because you are an answer of heaven to a thing. So I don’t go in and out of the presence of God, I settle myself into the DNA. I am a word, Annice. I am a word, and I cannot return back to Him void. I must pros-

per, and I must accomplish that which He sent Me to do. Interviewer: Amen. Annice Silimon: It’s identity. Identity is more than a lifestyle because if something in my life breaks, then the lifestyle breaks because the lifestyle builds a habit. Identity is more than habits. I am a woman. If the world stops making dresses, and I can only wear pants, then would that break my identity? Absolutely not. It just means the world doesn’t have dresses anymore. But, if the dresses are tied to habits, and my identity is a habit, then I will believe I am no longer a woman. What that means, and what that looks like is if I believe that prayer is a lifestyle, then when my life breaks, I will give up the habit because it’s just a lifestyle. It didn’t work. It’s just a lifestyle. I’m in crisis. It’s habits. When we understand that prayer is identity, this is biblical. In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among men. He is the first born, the first Word, of many brethren, or of many words, does that make sense? Interviewer: Yes, that makes sense. If we change our perspective on prayer, we will be able to stop putting our human mindset on just walking in purpose. It’s powerful what you’re saying. I’m trying to take it all in and process it, to be honest with you. So over the years in ministry, just in you leading people to Jesus, what have you learned? What are the wisdom, the jewels, and the gems that you have learned? Annice Silimon: Over the years of leading people to Jesus. I found God. Interviewer: Amen. Annice Silimon: What I was taught and what I learned along the way, God smashed, shattered, and broken, and then, I met God. Look at Job. Everything looks good, everything looks right, everything looks prestige, and

everything looks like it supposed to look. The Bible says there was no other righteous but at the end of Job, Job says, “I have heard about you; now, I know you.” It’s one thing to be doing the right thing, it’s one thing to be making the sacrifice, and then it’s one thing to be reading the Word and to be praying out of duty. But it’s another thing to be doing it out of relationship. I’m just about 20 years in, ups and downs, and thinking that it’s right, and using it for the wrong, and using it for identity, and all of these things and to have God shatter it, break it, tear away, and tear down my whole prayer language, my whole prayer identity, and say, “Definitely wrong.” All these years, I’ve been building prayer teams and doing all of these things, and God is like, “Now, let me show you really what’s going on here,” I found Him. I found His heartbeat, and I found freedom. My thing to everybody is, salvation and seldom freedom have dimensions to it; you can only walk through those dimensions on faith to faith, and glory to glory. Those things are revealed in relationship and communion, we’re transformed in the presence. Even as we’re serving people, we have to make sure that we’re serving God. That’s why

So we “ dimmed God.

We put God in a box. We put prayer in a box because God is in a box.

I’m on Periscope, three years in, but I’m not giving out my Cash App and PayPal. Why? Because this is my worship. Interviewer: Amen. Annice Silimon: Do you say, “God, I want you violently?” While there are people watching on the other side, it’s me in His presence saying, “If this is what You want, it’s an audience of one.” So there are so many lessons, Jesus, praise Him. Interviewer: Yeah we probably couldn’t tell it all with all of the wisdom and gems that He gives because He can get so much in one day to us. As far as the miraculous, what made you say, “OK, this is God, this is the Spirit of God, and this was a miracle?” Annice Silimon: You know I was a little bit more fortunate to have had wild experiences with Him while I was a kid. I grew up in an era where we were dreaming and we were inter-

We will not function fully, or we will not flow uninterrupted, if there is an absence of prayer.

acting with the prophetic, but there was really no teaching on it. It was almost like a taboo, and the generation I’m in is the rise of the dreamers, and the rise of the seers. The prophetic sound came out of a group of people who had to fumble and bumble around because the teachings just weren’t there. We were in another era of the church. It’s like the top of the millennial that’s kind of in the middle, after the baby boomers, but really before the deep millennials, that came in with new technology. In the realm of the spirit, we also came in with new technology. We have the old school kind of training, and we went to the old school church where the deacons were in the front of the church. People these days will never know that. Maybe it’s not a choir anymore. Maybe it’s just a praise team. Now, services are only an hour and a half because you gotta keep it moving. We were in churches til midnight at the night service that came after the second service, that came after the first service, that came after Sunday School. Interview: Yeah (laughs). Annice Silimon: So we’re in this two realm thing. We’re the best of both worlds because we move greatly in them. When I was a kid I was dreaming like nobody’s business. I was singing the songs of the Lord. I was speaking in tongues at a young age- I mean I was making fun of somebody and that’s how I started speaking in tongues but yeah (laughs)- I was speaking in tongues at a young age. But I’ll say the visitations that I’ve had while in communion, when I look at a person of Jesus, and this is just how I live my life, He was never like, “Come forth.” And so they rolled away the stone so Lazarus can come. And then, Lazarus comes down. And then, Jesus is like, “Whoa, wow, did you see that? Lazarus came forth! Did you see that?” But that’s what we see the church doing. Why? That let’s me know when we do that, we see our expectations, and we’re hoping. It’s one thing to praise Him. It’s one thing to give all honor and praise to Him, but it’s a consistent praise. It’s not mind blown

like, “What! Jesus grew out that leg! Oh my God! You see that, disciples? The woman with the issue of blood, it dried up at the root!” He never did that. So I believe His greatest moment for Him was when He was full. He was fully man while He was in the earth, like in the Garden of Gethsemane. So for me, it is in communion that I’ve seen the greatest, outpouring of God. I have the gift of faith. As you’re rolling in intercession, the gift of faith will be what you have. It takes faith to pray. It takes

faith for everything including salvation. See how that works? Because I can’t stand when people say intercession is an office because it’s not. Intercession is not a gift. Interviewer: Amen, we’re all called. Annice Silimon: It is a mandate for every single believer. Interviewer: Amen.

Annice Silimon: So when you start doing that, my thing is that my expectation is kind of like, how can I say this? Like when the mortgage is paid, you don’t look at your husband every single month like, “Oh snap! The mortgage is paid! You wrote the check! You deposited the check, boy! What? Oh, my God!” That would be offensive. Interviewer: Right. Annice Silimon: Because I am consistent, God is consistent. He (Jesus) is where the presence of God is. There cannot help but be miracles.

Annice Silimon: There cannot help but be signs and healings. Why? Because that’s who He is but the expectation of God has made God like man and put God in a box and, therefore, tendered the power and the presence of God. The greatest miraculous moment is in communion, where my faith is built, is to expect Him on the other side of the door. My greatest miracles, honestly, is to see God produced in me. That’s amazing. It’s not like there have been some great big things, but even the small things are great big things because it’s all Him. Interviewer: Yes. Annice Silimon: So a leg growing back is no greater than a headache going away. It’s the same virtue of healing. Interviewer: Amen. I’m trying to process all of this. I just got convicted. I put God in a box (laughs). I got convicted over this interview. Annice Silimon: God is funny. I love Him. Interviewer: But it’s awesome. I love the way God moves. It should just be an expectation because He’s God. He can do whatever, whenever He wants to. And we do kind of get like “Oooo” and “Ahhh.” I know I’m guilty of that, but this should be the norm for us. Annice Silimon: The same way you expect, when you’re with natural relationships, you expect your husband to be who he is, right? Interviewer: Yes. Annice Silimon: Who He is, period. We should expect God to be who He is. Interviewer: Amen, Amen, I can agree with that. Just do what He does. So how can we or people get in contact with you? What are you working on? tation with hands.

Annice Silimon: (Laughs) Well I need you to review it, boo.

Interviewer: Amen.

Interviewer: I will review it. Yes ma’am. It has blessed my natural hair; it has blessed my son’s hair. He has a fro hawk; he doesn’t like to pick it. It gets naughty, and I put it on his hair. It has blessed me, and it has blessed others. We’re a part of your group Pretty Poise. How did God lay that on your heart to start, and how did it birth out? Annice Silimon: So in my shattering season, my skin broke out. Everything was stressed; my natural body, and all kinds of stuff. So I bought everything. I did everything, and nothing was working. I get what it’s like to wake up with your natural hair and leave the house looking one way, and you get in the car; then in five seconds, you look totally different. Interviewer: Oh yeah, I’m there. Annice Silimon: Because your hair shrunk. Your hair did something. You know what I’m saying? Interviewer: (Laughs) Annice Silimon: Or, you have something going on with your skin. You know the elixir gets rid of pain, scars, all kinds of stuff, and it’s all God. But, I’m a natural exhorter. The gift of exhortation is a thing. And so if you’re hanging around me, you feel like when we’re done, you can literally do all things through Christ which strengthens you. Interviewer: Amen, I can attest to that (laughs). Annice Silimon: Especially for women. God wants to use us. When you feel ugly, when you feel fat, when you feel like your hair is not right, and you don’t feel pretty, you do not show up and let God use you. So this is exhor-

Annice Silimon: This, I believe, is a tool of heaven to make some things easier so that when you go out the front door, you’re not worried about what you’re not, what you look like, what ain’t right, what ain’t this, what ain’t that. You are like, “Man, I am glowing today.” And then, you are pouring into people and when we feel better, as women, we pour in and we pour out, even when you’re married. You know, I have The Body Batter. Women are like, “My husband is noticing that the dimples in my legs are not as visible.” That is a wife who is confident. The man doesn’t care about the dimples in the legs, but you showing them. That’s what he cares about! Interviewer: Yeah (laughs). Annice Silimon: He’s really saying, “Listen, you’re showing them legs and that makes me happy! I’m coming home five minutes earlier everyday because you’re showing them legs,” right? Interviewer: (Laughs) Right. Annice Silimon: The little things that we overlook, a lot of times, is the thing that is holding us back from the big thing that wants to produce through us. That’s all it is. Pretty Naked Skincare is not like, “Ooh, we’re about to be some pornography.” No. It is going back to the Genesis of what is already in us- the DNA, the glory juice that is in our cells- to remind us like, “Listen, you are created in the image of your Father. You’re shining, boo. Interviewer: Amen. Annice Silimon: Now, go shine. Go do. Go be so that you that you don’t miss a whole decade feeling like you were ugly because you couldn’t get rid of the baby weight, or because you have a c-section scar.

Interviewer: Amen. I’ve been enjoying the elixir, and I know there’s a whole group of women who can testify and have pictures to prove it. It’s awesome how God works through creativity that way, and you were able to take natural things to improve skincare, and even hair. One of the products, The Body Batter, my husband actually likes, and I can’t find the jar anymore because he took over it!

Interviewer: So, yeah, Pretty Naked Skincare, I know it’s going to be awesome. It’s going to bloom. It’s going to blossom. It already is.

Annice Silimon: The men take it, I don’t know what’s going on. Every married couple, the man takes it. It is scientifically proven that women are drawn to men who smell like baby powder.

Prophecy is “ really a very

Interviewer: I can believe that. Annice Silimon: And men are drawn to women who smell like cinnamon. Interviewer: Oh. Annice Silimon: So when you open up the jar, it’s cinnamon. So I don’t know if the men are taking the jar and I’m like, “No!” Interviewer: (Laughs) I got two uses out of that jar and he took over the jar so I was like you know what? You like it. I love it. No problem. I got the elixir, so I’m good. Annice Silimon: (Laughs) that’s so funny, but, the Body Batter is a great hot oil treatment for your hair. Interviewer: Oh, OK I have to try that. Annice Silimon: Yes, it’s great. Interviewer: The more I talk to you, the more you reveal about more uses. I’m like, “I didn’t know that I could use it for that or for this,” but that’s awesome. God is creative. He is our Creator so why wouldn’t He put creativity in us? Annice Silimon: Absolutely.

Annice Silimon: Amen. Interviewer: God’s glory is going to be all over it. You also have written a book and did a Prayer CD from that book that has blessed a lot of people, me included. The book is called “Irrevocable” and it’s on Psalm 103. I know a

weighty moment whenever we receive a word of the Lord. That’s why it’s so dangerous to run from prophet to prophet because it is a command.

“ That’s why, a

little bit of the backstory but just for the interview’s sake, what inspired you to write that book and then, in turn, do a Prayer CD? Annice Silimon: I don’t know who this is for, but it’ll bless somebody. So getting on Periscope, for me, was the thing I didn’t want to do, if that makes sense. I was doing devotions and then, I gave whatever the Lord said in the devotion of Psalm 103. When got on Periscope, we prayed it. And then, we decreed.

And then, we got crazy happy. The next day, the Lord was like, “Take every verse and make prayers and decrees out of every verse,” and so, that’s what I did. The CD, God said, “Do it.” God said, “Put it to music.” So the first time, it didn’t happen the way it was supposed to, so I just walked away from it. I was like, “I tried.” I lost some money, and lost some time. I said, “God, I walked the road of obedience,” so you know for me, everything I do is about obedience. It’s not about likes, subscribers, or purchase. Interviewer: Yes. Annice Silimon: I was obedient so I said, “God, you do what you want with your ministry.” Interviewer: Amen. Annice Silimon: “You don’t need my help to market it, so I’ll take it where ever you want this to go,” I told Him. You know my story. I had fasted away from everything. I had stopped preaching, prophesying, and all that stuff. When we got back to it, Periscope doesn’t have an end game. I’m not linking the Periscope community to a Facebook community; I’m not linking them to a church, it’s just Periscope, that’s it. Whenever God says do, I do it. He said, “Put the CD to music.” But when He said that, I didn’t hear like Cindy Trimm. Cindy Trimm is like amazing. She has the Atomic Prayer CD. However, our generation may never pick up that CD. They may not ever be drawn to that sound because it’s too much. Interviewer: Yeah. Annice Silimon: Yeah but when you talk about your kid in their college room, when they put that on their stream, they may feel some kind of way in front of their roommates. These tracks, as the Lord has said, it doesn’t feel like someone is praying to you. It doesn’t sound like prayer.

“ I can’t stand

when people say intercession is an office because it’s not. Intercession is not a gift.

Interviewer: It doesn’t.

Annice Silimon: It doesn’t sound like prayer according to the sound that we’re used to. I received testimonies, and women are like, “My husband doesn’t listen to anybody, but he’s been falling asleep to that CD.” Interviewer: Wow!

Annice Silimon: We’re praying for him, so it still refreshes. People would stop and tell me that it’s praying through the house, or, “My kid is listening to it.” That’s amazing. Interviewer: Amen, yes, because I actually plugged it up to my phone and when I picked up my son. I was listening to it a couple of times and he was like, “Oh, I like the beat,” and I said, “Oh, OK.” Hey, however the seed is getting watered. Annice Silimon: Right.

Interviewer: I thought that was awesome. With the Declarations Book, I know just making the decrees helped me in a season when stuff is birthed through worship and your time with God. How can people get in contact with you, and what events do you have going on, or events that recently happened? Annice Silimon: I talked about is developing your brand at “All Things Her Conference in Dallas, Texas.” You know my background is business. I have two Master’s Degrees, and I’m ABD (All But Dissertation) on the business side. So I do business coaching and the business consulting, especially with start-ups. A lot of times, when we talk about doing or having a business, there’s usually a system that is in place but if you’re a start-up, it’s where you created something. It’s not just where you say, “I’m going to start doing T-shirts.” Having a T-shirt business is not being an entrepreneur. It’s not unless you have created some sort of new technology in the shirt itself. Being a business owner means that you’re still very innovative, but you can take what you do in a forty hour week and make a business out of it. It’s not necessarily being an entrepreneur. There’s a very distinct difference. What I’m going to be teaching on, or instructing on is, what to do when you have to find your audience and develop your brand. We develop our brand around our audience, but we don’t have a brand identity yet because we don’t know how our audience is going to use it, or what they are going to think about it. The Facebook Group really drove me into the “why” I did it. There are a lot of trainings out there that’s kind of sleazy with doing Facebook Groups. I did it to help me develop brand identity so that I can serve the people that I set out to serve, but I don’t know how they actually want to be served. So, I said, “Let me watch their lives because everybody’s life is different.” Everybody’s skin and mental state(which plays a role in your skin) are different. As a startup, who is actually mixing these by hand and getting the ingredients, there are so many systems that have to be in play while

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE JULY 2019

you’re still developing your brand identity so that you can do your branding, which should be centered around your audience. What if you don’t know all of this, and you have to develop the product itself? It’s not something that you are automating because of duplication. I do business coaching, I have two websites (Growing Bright Ideas.com and AnniceSilimon.com). You can hit me up on social media at Annice Silimon, or even on LinkedIn. People can message me about self consulting, even with the startups, because it’s bread and butter. With the skincare line, I’m funding it, so we talk about that too. I believe in bread and butter because everything I do is my own business. I have a couple of businesses. I let companies absorb me into their company. I do leadership training and professional development within the company. I also create content, for the sake of time. However you want to hit me up whether it’s coaching, and mentoring, all the social media handles are just my name. For ministry, I do a Refuge once a month in Atlanta. We are supposed to be heading to London over the summer and a couple more events. I’m looking into putting together some Courage Camps in different cities. I do have a Courage Camp for women, where we deal with the business side of life, and you operating in the business side of life, because courage is a big seat of the soul in Hebrews. It’s a muscle that must be developed. I want to do some three day retreats where they’re really intensive to build that muscle and give you the tools and behaviors to keep building up that muscle when you go home. Interviewer: That sounds awesome. As far as business is concerned, I do believe that God wants us to start businesses or legacies. I don’t believe that we’re supposed to stay in a 9-5 mode. Going back to Adam and Eve, that was the case for them. It’s awesome that you’re doing the Courage Camp. Thank you so much for taking the time to interview with Rejoice Essential Magazine.

Annice Silimon: I appreciate the space to encourage people and love on people. Just blown away with gratitude and thankfulness every time the Lord says that we can do it. I’m so grateful. “The Making of A Prophet: Women Walking In Prophetic Destiny” is a must read! When I started reading the first declaration, I could feel the fire of God, so I knew this book was anointed. Some of the declarations in this book are declarations that I either already speak or have spoken over myself, and there are other declarations in this book I felt were for me. I also appreciate Prophetess Kim’s testimonies in this book. The transparency she displays is encouraging because just like so many others (including myself ), Prophetess Kim did not see herself as being worthy enough to used by God, especially as a prophet. When God called Prophetess Kim to the office of a prophet, she felt that she was in a terrible state in her life, but being in that state was how she was able to trust and rely on God. When Prophetess Kim finally surrendered to God, He was able to use her more for His glory. “The Making of A Prophet: Women Walking In Prophetic Destiny” is truly a blessing for me because it gives me the encouragement and boldness that I need to move in the prophetic without focusing on the distractions or objections from others who disagree with women operating in their God-given assignment. People will try to put limits on you, but when it comes to God, there are no limitations; Prophetess Kim makes that clear in this book. She challenges and breaks the barriers some people try to use against women operating in church, ministry, five-fold offices, etc. “The Making of A Prophet: Women Walking In Prophetic Destiny” will inspire you to move forward in your assignment with the confidence in knowing that God has you, He is with you, and you have what it takes to carry out His purpose for your life, with or without the approval of others. Thank you, Prophetess Kim, for allowing God to use you to bring this much-needed book forward, blessings to you always! —LaShana Lloyd *** This book is very necessary! Women are misunderstood not only throughout the world as far as equality, but women are misunderstood when it comes to God’s purpose in their lives. God mandated everyone, Male or Female, with a purpose. I’m so glad that this book described Biblical women that God uses continually throughout the Word of God, but also powerful testimonies from the writer, Prophetess Kimberly Moses. Being a student of the School of Prophets, Prophetess Kimberly imparts to her students, and we began to flow in dreams, visions, Word of knowledge, Word of Wisdom and increase of discerning of spirits. Her Love for people and God shows and is all in the fruit God does through Prophetess Kimberly. This book will bless you! — Anstrice Mcmillian Epps *** I enjoy reading books by Prophetess Kimberly Moses. She’s an amazing teacher of the Prophetic Ministry and an asset to the Body of Christ. This book will enlighten your understanding of the Women Prophets in Biblical times and help you to understand what women Prophets of today are dealing with. It will bring clarity of your own identity as a Prophet of God. I used to feel left out and different from the rest, until I found people that were just like myself. Her books are filled with wisdom; the knowledge you obtain from her books will stick with you. I had the pleasure of taking her course “School of the Prophets,” which was life-changing for me. I encourage anyone looking to fulfill the prophetic call on your life to take her course. You will never be the same. — Felecia Jackson
