“GODS LOVE” Pastor Shirley Cooper

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor’ and ‘hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be like your Father in heaven, since He causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Even the tax collectors do the same, don’t they? And if you only greet your brothers, what more do you do? Even the Gentiles do

the same, don’t they? So then, be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:43-48) Note to self: God knows that we are not perfect, but He also knows that we can be close to “perfect” when we choose to act on a perfectly, good and Godly move, the way God moves. While we can’t be perfect, our actions can. The scriptures above are self explanatory. They teach us to love perfectly. When we break them down we find that God’s example for His love is to love even those whom you dislike.

I remember one person that comes to mind. Without mentioning any names, I must say that in my description of her, she would be my worst enemy. Although God teaches that we don’t fight the flesh, I literally would absolutely love to punch her in the face even if that meant only in pictures. I’d toss and turn her, dipping her into a very hot, spicy mexican sauce, roll her up in a life size burrito and feed her to her own family pack of wolves. Ah sometimes venting seems to be just as satisfying. However, that is never how

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE AUGUST 2016

God wants us to act. It’s not even good to think that way, not even when venting. God says in His word that even in our thoughts we should think perfectly. Why? Well, because, “The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart. (Luke 6:45) What fills our minds, fills the heart, and what eventually fills the heart will take its place onto the tongue and out of our mouths we crush the ministry. Hate is a major hindrance in Kingdom business. It doesn’t just kill physically, but spiritually. It invades God’s time with us, His work within us, and any good thing that God has created in us. We become monsters thriving to destroy anything that could be used for ministry. Jesus taught us that love was indispensable, a very vital tool, and no matter what, it was to be shared evenly. While Jesus’ response to the wicked was harsh, His love was still there. God’s love is unconditional. It isn’t supposed to be given to only those that we love, but to those who just can’t seem

to love us. Love can bring, even our worst enemy to their knees. Not my words, but Gods. Love conquers all. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8) In the depths of God’s love, He teaches us that we are to be the salt and the light of this world (Matthew 5:13-16) “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its flavor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled on by people. You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden. People do not light a lamp and put it under a basket but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven. Emphasizing on a tiny piece of the scripture above, we can find the greatest advice ever..”let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.” How beautiful to be perfect in God’s eyes? How wonderful to be able to share with the world a love like Christ’s

love? Because, let’s face it, we cannot share the gospel, by omitting God’s love. It’s indispensable! When we can finally reach the vital point and message that God taught us on true love, it will be then that we are finally delivered and freed from the chains that we ourselves have put on. Love your enemies was God’s instruction for us. Because He knew that if we could perfect that, we could manage to walk even those who persecute us right into the arms of Christ. It’s not an easy task to achieve, but it is commanded. Today, turn your cheeks to love even your worst enemy. Rather than persecuting them, pray for them. As hard as it is, I have tried to undo that burrito, remove the hot, spicy sauce, and eliminate any vengence I may have stored up inside me. Because the greatest thing I could ever be for myself, is free. Free of all anger, hate, and revenge. I may not ever be perfect, but I most certainly can find God’s perfect love in anything I choose to do. Pray for your enemies and love them to Christ.

WORKING IN PEACE By Keiyia JOYet George

I happened to be listening to a sermon regarding authority and I don’t recall how the pastor got to this, but he somehow ended up at James 3:16 which says:

in the air spaces just landed on my shoulders. One floor air is lighter to breath, while on another you are gasping for air. What was causing this?

For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind. James 3:16 (NLT)

Well, if we look at the word in James 3:16, it says in the simplest form this heaviness and disorder is caused by envy and greed.

The hairs on my arms lifted in revelation! Wherever there is jealous there is disorder. Wherever there is selfish ambition (greed) there is every evil of all kinds. Did you read this? Did something jump out at you?

So look around your workplace. Are you seeing co-workers who are envious of one another? Are they back biting one another? Are they forming alliances to bring another down? Are there two or more who never talked to one another who have all of a sudden best buddies because someone new joined the team? Well, if you have said yes to any of these or even came up with other situations, then there is jealousy present in your space.

Even as I type this, I am recalling situations in past work places where I didn’t understand why there was confusion and evil heaviness. I mean as you walk into the building, the burdens

Greed. Does the company’s policies benefit one set of staff rather than all AND the customer? Are one set of people always left out of promotions or better benefits? We just started a new year. Did the company declare no raises across the board but granted some quietly to a few members? What about the policies of the company overall. Do they benefit the company and scheme to swindle the client? Are the clients just a number in the bank account rather than someone who is shown respect and value? Have you thought of any other examples of greed? Well, if you say yes, then unfortunately the door to every evil has been opened. The gates of confusion are unlocked. Greed is the cause behind this.

I’m saddened that I didn’t recognize this before. I sometimes sit in a state of grief because I waited so long to really submit to God, but I KNOW this is the enemy’s goal: to keep me wallowing in the dirt of condemnation. But I pull down this imagination and I GET UP!!!! I know what to do now and I am SO glad I can share this with you. I am also super excited to know that I can continue to implement this for organizations I have had or have relations with. SO GET UP!!!! Look up for the Word says For God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the meetings of God’s holy people. 1 1 Corinthians 14:33 (NLT) Sure this reference from Paul was about the gathering of saints but if God is not a God of confusion, then He is just that no matter what or when. Point blank. His Words are true in all situations and he is not the Father of confusion and evilness in your place of employment! If he is not the Father, then who is? Well…must be the enemy, right? So what are we reading? When we work in places with jealousy and greed, the doors of confusion and everything evil are wide open. Let’s not fret, though. There are ways to get these doors closed. 1. Intercede on behalf of the organization. Lift the company up in prayer. Seek God on the company’s behalf. Repent on behalf of the company. Ask for God’s grace and mercy surround the place. Cover the company in the blood. Don’t get caught up in the gossip of the office. Don’t speak ill of the organization. Change your attitude of the com-

pany. It’s not the people!! It’s the spirits within. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 (NLT) 2. Speak blessings on the company. The last point said to NOT get in involved in office gossip. Office gossip is only bringing curses to the company and a curse is setting your place of employment up to fail. Curses mean failure and when you profess failure, it cancels any blessing you have spoken. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water? Does a fig tree produce olives, or a grapevine produce figs? No, and you can’t draw fresh water from a salty spring. James 3:10-12 (NLT) 3. Check yourself!! We cannot change other people. We can only pray for them. But in that prayer, you yourself will begin to change. Allow this change because God is taking you higher. He will give you new ways to cover your work place. He will open your eyes to matters to take to him. HE will lead and direct your paths. He will make you WISE!!! If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boast-

ing and lying. For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind. But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness. James 3:13-18 (NLT) As we see above three points, we can close the doors of confusion and evil through prayer, declarations, and self-discipline. It’s not all drab. There is peace on the other side of it all. How do I know? Because it happened to me. I’ve prayed, blessed, and checked my attitudes and God never failed me. If nothing else happened, I found peace. For me, when I found peace, God elevated me physically and spiritually. Do your part but go an extra step: close the doors that jealousy and greed have opened. Be your company’s mouth piece to God. Lead them and your company leaders in prayer and watch God work on YOUR behalf.

As always, Love, Keiyia JOYet George I love hearing from you and this topic of workplace peace touches us all. Can you commit to add to your workplace peace? What will you commit to doing? Share with us below and I will surely lift you in prayer.

LIVING IN PEACE By Keiyia JOYet George

I’m about to give my longest scripture text yet. You ready? It comes from Paul, my all-time favorite Bible author (I mean he was ‘bout it, humble, and full of such wisdom and understanding). I honestly didn’t plan on including all of this, but when the scripture jumped out at me, I decided to read the scriptures around it and WOW! What a lesson to get out of this! I mean seriously, I was going to write about praying throughout your house because where the Spirit is, there is nothing but Peace. No devil can reside where the Spirit is. I was also going to mention putting on the ‘shoes of Gospel of Peace’ (Ephesians 6:15) as you walk around declaring and decreeing (we are royalty aren’t we?) blessings within your

He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit.

we expect far greater glory under the new way, now that the Holy Spirit is giving life? If the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new way, which makes us right with God! In fact, that first glory was not glorious at all compared with the overwhelming glory of the new way. So if the old way, which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new, which remains forever!

The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life. The old way, with laws etched in stone, led to death, though it began with such glory that the people of Israel could not bear to look at Moses’ face. For his face shone with the glory of God, even though the brightness was already fading away. Shouldn’t

Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold. We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot

dwelling, but I’m going to go a little deeper today. So let’s go…if you have your Bible, turn with me to 2 Corinthians chapter 3… LOL I’m just kidding, but we are going to look at this chapter in its near entirety.

understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand. But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. 2 Corinthians 3:6-18 (NLT) The scripture I want to focus on is verse 17: For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NLT) When you think of peace, does freedom come to mind? Cause I can tell you, I’ve been living in peace since the day I was ‘freed’. I won’t get into what I was freed from right now, but let’s just say I am no longer in Egypt and if I return at God’s calling, it will be to set the captives free! You recall Moses was an adopted prince who fell into murder after he learned he was ‘found’, he ran and stayed in the desert for 40 years, and God told him to go back to Egypt to set His people free. That’s the Moses Paul is referring to here. After setting the people free, he eventually went up the mountain for a meeting with God. When he came down, his face had to be covered because the glory of God on him was so bright, and he came down with a few laws written on stone, which were to

govern the people. Turn to Deuteronomy 28. Here we find the ‘oh so famous’ blessings and curses. If you obey the law, the blessings are mentioned through verse 14. But if you did not keep these laws, the curses are so numerous, you might as well ask God to take you right then. I believe that is why Paul said the old covenant ended in death. Recall the parable about the rich man asking how to get into Heaven? Matthew 19:1-26. The rich man wanted to know how to get into Heaven because the rich often were guaranteed a passage to Heaven by the priest. The rich could afford to pay the priests’ prices for sacrifices on the alter, ‘guaranteeing’ them a spot. So Jesus told him to keep the commandments. The rich man claimed he had kept them but Jesus told him he needed to be perfect (in a round-aboutway) and to basically give up all he had and follow Jesus. This rich man, not willing to make the sacrifice, opted out and went on about his way. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is very hard for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I’ll say it again—it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!” Matthew 19:23-24 (NLT) Astonished, the disciples ask how anyone could make it to Heaven if the rich could not. And this is the point I want to get to: it is impossible under the law to make it to heaven. The law is a death sentence. Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is

impossible. But with God everything is possible.” Matthew 19:26 (NLT) So where is the peace in all this?? There are a ton of curses under the law if you disobey them. It is humanly impossible to keep the law. And the law is a death sentence! The old covenant was pre-Christ, the law from Moses, who covered his face because the glory of God on him was so bright. Under the new covenant, postChrist’s death, we don’t have to cover our faces. We can remove the veil. We can live in peace. We can turn to the Christ and reveal who he is in us. As we remove the veil (letting His glory shine) and become more and more like Christ, we become just as glorious as He is. And if Christ is the Prince of Peace and we are like him, then we too can be princes of peace. Basking in peace, day in, day out. For where the Spirit is, there is liberty! This liberty is all inclusive. So in a nutshell, we live in peace by removing the veil. Leaning on God. Trusting Him. Becoming more like Him. Allowing the new covenant to give us life, and life more abundantly. It’s not about having the abundant, but having life more abundantly, and I wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world! Live peacefully, y,all! Always, Keiyia JOYet George Living peacefully is not so hard, although it does take practice. What steps have you taken to live peacefully?

SLEEPING IN PEACE By Keiyia JOYet George

I recall the days when I’d go to bed, mind still toiling and twisting over the events of the day, preparing for tomorrow, and reviewing the checklist of yesterday. During these years of my life, it seemed that I’d lie in the bed for hours wishing for sleep to come. It never came easy. So I would just lay there until the wee hours of the morning, mind still going rapidly. This is what I’d known for many years. In in younger days, I’d chew over a book I’d just finished reading. In high school, it was a piece of some application I was

programming whose logic was trying to get the best of me. Later in my career, the coding still kept me up but add to that the dealings of ‘people’ you had to work with. Hours were spent wondering how a person could behave and speak so unprofessional...thinking about crap I definitely had no authority to change. Time wasted! After the birth of my first child, I found that I was alway tired. I NEVER slept the same again. So not only was sleep elusive because my brain didn’t shut down, but I was super tired. Tired but unable to sleep.

See the picture for this posting? That’s life for over two years. SLEEPING IN PEACE. I may have shared with you that I promised my husband that I will be ‘nice’ if we decided to have another child. I spent the entire nine months praying for joy and peace. I sought to let everything roll off my back. I commanded the the Holy Spirit to do His job and keep me in perfect peace. Sure my days were more hectic than ever before, I just chose to refocus my mind on things that were important: carrying

my wonderful addition to our family and keeping my end of my bargain with my hubby. Lol. (One thing you’ll learn about me is I try my hardest to keep my word.) But I continued to pray. Before my day started, before every meeting, before most conversations, before every bag packed for traveling (my clothes were getting tight on the belly but I wasn’t going to let that stress me), and before falling to sleep about 9pm nightly. (9pm!!! Every night!!! New accomplishment. This pregnancy was treating me better than I imagined!) After having our son, ‘the prophet’ (another, another MRG - MGR III), life was just peaceful. I completely enjoyed my maternity leave. This shocked me. With the others, I was completely bored (I had a hard time doing nothing...) and anxious to get back to work. This time, I cherished each day. Never rushing them. Knowing that before I knew it, he’d outgrow everything and be well on his way to adulthood. Rather than sleep, I basked in the few short moments he was awake. I laughed and played with him. He was always near. This new peace was something refreshing...moments spent living in it convicted me. Why didn’t I do this with the other two? What have we missed out on? (Lesson learned and corrected!) It’s not to say that I didn’t have peace before, but more so my mind was not at peace. Within the walls of my home, is love and peace. It is my sanctuary. I love being home, with a house full or alone. This is my spot. But at night, my mind just wouldn’t shut up! I spent hours telling

it to shut up and then kicking myself for thinking about how to shut it up!

Rest in Peace, I can sleep. He can stay up with it. No point in both of us dealing with it!

But now, at the conclusion of this series on peace, I think you can see that I sleep in total peace.

I no longer work in strife and every evil thing, rather I Work in Peace. I have absolute control of my day and staffing. No jealousy and greed welcomed here! So I sleep.

Psalm 127 says: Unless the LORD builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the LORD protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones. Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them! He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates. Pslam 127 (NLT) My life is dedicated to Him. My house belongs to Him. These walls are painted with His name. I cover this territory in the blood. I mean if I’m going to live here, I might as well cover it,huh? I have no need to stay up day in and out working. There’s always tomorrow. Plus, that time is better spent seeking God’s face through prayer and worship anyway. If I don’t have food to eat... well, he promised me my daily bread. It will be there tomorrow, won’t it! Nightly before bed, I aim the arrows of our family (our children), giving them tidbits on life and having life more abundantly, teaching them about authority and who they really are. I decree and declare they will not put us to shame! And if I give it all to Him, and

And Living in Peace is a daily task of mine. As His glory is revealed in me daily, my light continues to shine. I’m a favor magnet! You have no choice but to favor me! When I walk in, you will notice the light around me. You have no choice! Sleep comes easy! I labor for peace. And when it’s time to sleep, I Sleep in Peace. When sleep attempts to evade me, I quickly remind God of his promise: When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. Proverbs 3:24 (KJV) Sweet sleep is mine!!!! Let me let you in on the best kept secret: as you lay down, commence to pray. Before you know it, you will be sleeping in peace and when you wake, you will have only one thought: I’m not sure when I feel asleep, but that was some of the sweetest sleep ever! Sleep peacefully! With love, Keiyia JOYet George

WE ARE STRONGEST WHEN WE BUILD OUR RELATIONSHIPS ON THE FOUNDATION OF GOD’S LOVE By Reynaldo Rodriguez

“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved” (Ephesians 2: 4 – 5). But as great as having our sins forgiven and being saved is, it is only half of the gospel. The other half is understanding and accepting the real facts, “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,” (Ephesians 2: 6). This is the grace gift we have already spoken of—the judge pardoning the accused and then adopting them into his own family and making them, His hers. Going back to the try hard— give up idea, the problem with that picture is that this is not the way we should be defining our belief about who we are. Paul said, “We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some

who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.” ( 2 Corinthians 10: 12). We should get our identity from an entirely new source, namely, who we are in Christ based on what God has already done for us, not what we have done, whether good or bad. “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me

that does it.” (Romans 7: 15 – 20) Then we can rest rather than struggle, because victory ultimately depends on what God has already done, not on what we try to do. “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, He gave the right to become children of God- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1: 12 – 14) There is an interesting and illuminating illustration of this in the life of the great missionary pioneer and founder of the China Inland Mission, J. Hudson Taylor. As a young man, Taylor had the vision to go to the interior of China, a place where in the 1850s no mis-

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE AUGUST 2016

sionary had ventured. To prepare himself for this, he adopted a very disciplined lifestyle. He ate a very Spartan diet. He cut himself off from sources of money so that he could learn to trust God to supply his needs. He was an amazing young man. He went to China as he planned. He adopted Chinese dress and even let his hair grow so that he could wear it in a long braid in order to identify more fully with the people he was trying to reach with the gospel. He eventually founded a new mission and asked God for 100 missionaries and enough money in big gifts to send them out so that he wouldn’t have a lot of bookkeeping. God answered his prayer! The record says, however, that when Taylor went around visiting the mission stations, there was a sense of tension between this super-spiritual, super-disciplined leader and the missionaries. About midlife, Taylor’s biography quotes him as saying, “Unbelief was, I felt, the damning sin of the world—yet I indulged in it.” Hudson Taylor, guilty of unbelief? How could that be? His faith seemed to put him on a pedestal so high an ordinary mortal could hardly touch him. What was he talking about? In terms of our present discussion, he said, “I discover that I was on the try hard cycle of my own effort in order to impress God and myself and everyone else how committed I was to God. I discovered that he wanted me to rest in what he had done for me. I was simply not believing and receiving the gracious gift provided for me in Christ.” After he learned this lesson, Taylor’s favorite song became: Jesus, I am resting, resting, in the joy of what thou art. I am find-

ing out the greatness of thy loving heart. Thou hast bid me gaze upon thee, and thy beauty fills my soul; For by thy transforming power, thou hast made me whole. History also reports that from that time on, when Taylor made rounds to visit the missionaries, there was an overflow of blessing from his life, rather than a feeling of tension. When he exchanged his performance based approach to Christianity for a grace- based relationship with his Savior, his behavior changed. Yes, people—even missionaries—may not live what they say they believe, but they will always live what they really believe. Paul has an interesting commentary on this in Rome 5, and to put Paul’s theology on the lower shelf for easier access, I will quote from The Living Bible: “So now, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith in his promises, we can have real peace with him because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. For because of our faith, he has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to actually becoming all that God has had in mind for us to be. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us— they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady. Then, when that happens, we are able to hold our heads high no matter what happens and know that all is well, for we know how dearly God loves us, and we feel this warm love everywhere within us because God has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” (Romans 5: 1

– 5) Living Bible (TLB) Does holding our heads high no matter what happens sound like pride? It would be if it were based on the try hard cycle. But it isn’t. It is based on what God has done for us in Christ. It is the result of receiving His gracious gift to us—adoption into the His family. And, we repeat, not believing this is not humility; it is unbelief, in spite of what Satan may try to tell you to the contrary. The feelings of inferiority that most of us have to deal with are the result of being self—centered—of asking what we think about ourselves. Humility is never self-centered; it is God—centered. It is confidence properly placed— in God, His Son, and His Holy Spirit, not ourselves. Inferiority feelings are Satan’s counterfeit for true humility. We need to recognize also, however, that the path to the strong and steady hope and faith leads through learning to deal with problems and trials.” Most of us would like to avoid that part of the journey, but as good and wise Father, God wants us as His children to develop the “strength of character” that can come in no other way. How we handle the hard places in life will depend on whether we see ourselves as under the circumstances or far above them. “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved” (Ephesians 2: 4 – 6). And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,”.

GOD’S POSSESSION By Reynaldo Rodriguez

To win the spiritual battle for our minds, we must have a true view of God. Experience tells us that many, if not most, Christians swing back and forth between trying hard and giving up—trying hard to do and say the things that will bring affirmation, but getting enough shameful messages that they feel like giving up. “from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it.” (Matthew 11: 12). Is only the spiritually violent

and courageous person who has the determination to change and rescue the world for Jesus Christ. Then how do we become spiritually violent against darkness and courageous enough to live a life that is well pleasing to God? The answer is not easy for the easy heart fainted. We need to agree with God about who we are. Agreeing with God means we take up the cross and follow JESUS through a narrow door and an uncomfortable way, denying ourselves and our fleshly carnal desires to follow Him. Is to die constantly

to the old creature, is a battle against our own selves. Paul the apostle capture describing the moment through a snapshot picture, “No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” (1 Corinthians 9: 27). Notice how in this scripture, Paul realize that even he, can be disqualified. And this was the Apostol who dare to say, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ”. (1 Corinthians 11: 1)

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE AUGUST 2016

Basically, as Christians we are called to fight against the ruling of darkness reigning in our mortal bodies, with the fruit of the Holy Spirit, “The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.” (Galatians 5: 19 – 26). In Romans 8: 16 – 17, Paul shares a Kodak moment in the Spirit, “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” Since the Spirit testi-

fies to our spirit that we are indeed children of God, we are called also to keep in high value our relationship with the Spirit of the Almighty, “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” (Ephesians 4: 30). As Christians who gratefully recognize the redemption that took place at the cross, and the prize that Jesus paid to accomplish our salvation, we are called to always act and live lives that please God at all times. Sanctification is a journey, not a destination. Are we going to make mistakes? Of course, God knows this very well. But allowing God to assist us every step of the way is a must, if we wish to follow God, since separated from Jesus, there is nothing we can do. Earlier we spoke about loving ourselves and defined that as saying about ourselves what God says about us. Let’s look at this in terms of the adoption figure we touch basis already. Do you understand that? If you do, you are ahead of the game. With the legalism and perfectionism in my background, and my inferiority feelings, it is difficult to think of myself as a price in God’s kingdom. “A prince or princess?” You ask. Yes, isn’t

that what a co—heir to the King would be? You are not being prideful when you believe this truth, but you are defeated if you don’t. Do you see why Satan doesn’t want you to believe this? If you did, and you started to live like royalty in God’s kingdom, you would bring glory to God in a way impossible when you are dragging your tail between your legs and saying you’re no good. You may upgrade the “no good” to just a sinner saved by grace.” But as great as having our sins forgiven and being saved is, it is only half of the gospel. The other half is understanding and accepting the real facts, “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,” (Ephesians 2: 6). This is the grace gift we have already spoken of—the judge pardoning the accused and then adopting him into his own family and making her/ him His hers.

DON’T LOOK BACK, YOU’RE NOT GOING THAT WAY By Reynaldo Rodriguez

To win the spiritual battle for our minds, we must have a true view of God. That is why Paul prayed for the Ephesians “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.” (Ephesians 1: 17).

ily—a family where the Father loves with unconditional love and can be dependent upon to use His limitless power to carry out what His love chooses to do. Now the question remains: Who tells me who I am? I grew up in a church setting that told me that I needed to be almost perfect to be acceptable to God.

We no longer need to see ourselves as the victims of the way we were treated by our parents or families, because God has now made us part of His fam-

We call this approach to defining our relationship to God legalism. We already touched basis of how various circumstances can filter the image of God to us, resulting

in a distorted image of Him. The same filters can work with our view of ourselves. Truth tells me “In Christ”: I am God’s child, I am a member of Christ body, I am a saint, I have direct access to God, I am free of condemnation, I cannot be separated from God’s love, I have been given a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind, I am God’s workmanship, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE AUGUST 2016

But filters like: Ignorance of truth, those who teach false doctrine, thoughts from deceiving spirits, unhealthy interpersonal relationships, poor role models of authority figures, especially parents. Lies that make me feel: Uncared for, alone and isolated, like a sinner, unable to approach God, condemned, that God is far away, fearful and powerless, useless and unworthy, able to do nothing.

world system in which we have been raised. The primary basis for this pursuit is our appearance, performance and status. Such attempts at self-verification, however, always crumble under hostile criticism or morbid introspection. At the same time, we all do things that are not affirmed by others. In fact, some of our best efforts are condemned by others.

The preview is an example of how we visualize ourselves through a spiritual filter. The list of who I am in Christ could be much longer. But let’s look at this from another perspective. We noted already that we live in a very performance based society. Our status in society is often based on what we do and say, whether good or bad. We constantly compare ourselves with people, and we are deeply concerned about how people think of us.

This may be due to just plain sin, but it may also be due to a simple mistake or even a lack of affirmation for genuine achievement. An example of the latter is the boy who got C’s on his report card. His father told him that if he worked hard, he could get B’s, but when he presented his report to his father, the father said, “Well if you really worked hard, you could get A’s” The boy really worked hard and brought home A’s, expecting that he would finally get some affirmation from his father. The father viewed the card and said, “You probably have an easier teacher.”

Our behavior is very often determined by what other people say we are or by what we think they say we are, rather than by whom we perceive ourselves to be in Christ. This is peer pressure at work again. Since, “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,” (Ephesians 2: 1), we had neither the presence of God in our lives nor the knowledge of His ways. Therefore we have had to make a name for ourselves and earn a sense of worth according to the

It is reported that children in this country get seven to ten shame messages for every affirming message they receive, yet it takes many messages to offset the effect of one shame message. If it isn’t people who provide the shameful message, it is Satan and his corps of demons. Satan is called the “accuser of our brothers” (Revelation 12: 10), and he loves to accuse us of anything he can. It seems like we each have a little imp sitting on our shoulders, telling us how bad we are.

Satan knows that if we have a negative perception of ourselves, we will behave in essentially negative ways. From there on, it doesn’t matter what new truth we learn. Unless we apply the truth about our identity in Christ, no amount of behavior modification is going to turn us into Spirit—led Christians. “A person cannot consistently behave in a way that’s inconsistent with how he perceives himself.” Experience tells us that many, if not most, Christians swing back and forth between trying hard and giving up—trying hard to do and say the things that will bring affirmation, but getting enough shameful messages that they feel like giving up. “from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it.” (Matthew 11: 12). To be continue.

MUSCLES AND MUSCLE TISSUE

Muscles are arranged in groups througout the body. Each group moves/supports the bones and organs in that region, i.e.- muscles of the lower extremity move andsupport the leg. The skeletal muscles of the body attachto bones of the skeleton and provide support for posture Muscle: is organized into 3 Types: Skeletal, Cardiac and Smooth Muscle. Skeletal muscle provides human motion, cardiac muscle pumps the heart and smooth muscle provides organ function through muscular contraction. • Sarcomere: Sarcomeres are the basic unit of muscle, made up of actin and myosin. Skeletal muscles contract according the sliding filament model – after the signal to contract comes from the central nervous system, an action potential spreads over the muscle fiber.

Myosin (bound with ATP) binds to actin hydrolyzes ATP and the released energy delivers a power stroke. • Excitation-Contraction Coupling: is the process by which an action potential causes calcium (Ca2+) release and cross bridge cycling. • Repetitive Excitation: how much of the total skeletal muscle contracts depends on the stimulation pulse rate it receives. In order to recruit the entire muscle into contraction a sufficient number and intensity of stimuli is required.

• Length-Tension Relationship: The optimal length for a muscle is when the maximum number of myosin cross bridges make contact with thin filaments. • Muscle Metabolism: when a muscle is stimulated to contract the initial energy source is ATP, when the ATP source is depleted, muscle converts glucose into pyruvic acid and ATP. During long periods of exercise muscle can use FFA, which is converted into ATP. • Types of Skeletal Fibers: type 1 (slow oxidative fibers)fibers contain many mitochondria and high levels of myoglobin. Type IIa (fast oxidative-glycolytic) fibers contain lots of mitochondria and high levels of myoglobin. Type IIb (fast glycolytic) fibers contain few mitochondria and low levels of myoglobin.

SINNER’S PRAYER

Jesus was crucified on the cross just for you! He suffered so much for your healing, sorrows, and sins. He went around doing every good work, healing people and casting out demons. He took thirty nine lashes. He wore a crown of thorns and his beard was plucked out! He was spat on, falsely accused, and beaten. Will you let him in your heart today? Take a few seconds and pray this short prayer. Your life will never be the same. Lord, I believe that you died on the cross for my sins. Romans 10:9 says, “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. “I make you Lord and Savior of my life. Lord, I desire to have a relationship with you. Lord, I confess any sins of ___________. I repent Lord. Wash me in your blood in Jesus name Amen. Congratulations! If you read the above prayer, welcome to the body of Christ. The angels in heaven are rejoicing. Get connected to a local bible based church and get with someone who will hold you accountable. Your next step is to get baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38 King James Version (KJV): Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

PROPHETIC ENCOURAGEMENT

These are the words giving to Prophetess Kimberly Hargraves by the Holy Spirit during her prayer time. These are the notes from Periscope. It is important to rest. Even God rested on the 7th day. Hebrews 4:4 says, “For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.” All believers will give an account one day to God. God will bury your ashes. Look forward to blessings. Prophet’s voices are like trumpets. Psalm 47:5 says, “God is gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.” Prophet’s sound the alarm. They warn us when there is danger. Joel 2:1 says, “Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my

holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand.” Haggai His assignment was to encourage the Jews who were in exile from Babylon and to restore worship in the temple. God used him to expose the true motives of the hearts of the people when it came to rebuilding the temple. Their indifference made them unclean and contaminated in God’s sight. The people were not motivated and lost enthusiasm therefore their worship wasn’t heartfelt.

Little is known about Haggai. He was contemporaries with Zechariah. Haggai means “Festival” Background: When the Israelites returned to Jerusalem they had plans to rebuild the temple but the Persian King ordered them to cease. However, Darius I lifted those restrictions. By this time, the people felt like it wasn’t the right time to build the temple. They began to procrastinate. There were a lot of distractions. There was an economic crisis and drought. The people were only concern with building their homes while the temple of the Lord laid in ruins.

Haggai encouraged the people to focus on their spiritual lives because the temple was much more than a building but it symbolized a meeting place with God. He also encouraged the people that God was with him. The people responded well to Haggai’s message and began to work on the temple again. The overall lesson is that God will bless his people because they put the work of the Lord before their own affairs. People don’t reap when they are out of order and neglect the things of God. Haggai 1:6-11 The Lord will fill your mouth with His word. 1) Exodus 4:12 says, “Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.” 2) 2 Samuel 23:2 says, “The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.” 3) Jeremiah 1:9 says, “Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.” Prophecy is inspired by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:20-21 says, “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” The Lord saves His anointed. The Lord will help, save, give us victory, hear us, and rescue us in a mighty way. Psalm 20:6 says, “Now know

I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.” The Lord is our strength, refuge, protector, and deliverer. Psalm 28:8 says, “The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.” Prophecy Accuracy 1) Focus on Relationship 2) Worship. Worship will draw God’s presence. 2 Kings 3:15 says, “But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him.” 3) Build on the word. Mediate on scriptures. 4) Live a fasted lifestyle. It will heighten your spiritual awareness and increase your hearing. The Role of a True Prophet of God 1) Prophets condemn the oppression of the widow, the orphan, the stranger, and poor. Zechariah 7:10 says, “And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.” 2) Prophets are preachers of righteousness. They call people back to virtues of justice, kindness, compassion, and truth. Zechariah 7:9 says, “Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:” Zechariah 8:16 says, “These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judg-

ment of truth and peace in your gates:” Pray for Mexico. I see a famine coming to various crops. Pray for revival to hit that nation. Pray for pharmaceutical drug companies. I see a recall of major drug. Pray for the Nation of Turkey. I see an economic crisis.

God has a miracle with your name on it. Pray against attacks against churches. Had a vision of churches burning. Had vision of preachers dropping dead behind the pulpit like flies. Pray against attack on air planes causing collisions in the sky. Pray crimes.

against

hate

Had a vision of KKK or Ku Klux Klan trying to emerge and attack. Pray against food borne outbreaks. Seen a vision with Lobsters contamination. God says He is pulling His people out and stopping some stubborn things. He has not forsaken you. God said many people have been worried and discouraged to the point where they have lost hope. He will restore their peace, restoration, hope, sanity, and right mind-set. He will touch the people himself. There will be a tangible flame of His fire burning in their bellies. No more unbelief. God says seek my face and pray the words I have spoken back to me. This is a time of refreshing.
