FEAR IN THE DARKEST VALLEY Shirley Cooper
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4) David says that as God leads him in the right paths, sometimes those paths create an occasion to fear. Sometimes those paths lead through dark valleys - paths that seem so wrong and so scary, that they cannot possibly be good for us. The right paths can feel wrong because of this kind of danger, leaving us wondering whether we should make a sudden stop or a quick U-Turn. The choice is ours, but so is the choice to trust the God who can turn our mess into a message and our trials into
triumph. It was King David, who wrote the psalm. He grew up and worked as a shepherd, so he knew a lot about sheep and shepherding. He loved the metaphor of seeing God as a shepherd. The shepherd’s job is to care for his flock, making sure they are safe, nourished, calm and happy at all times. And when we read the bible thoroughly, we find that He has done all of the above and more. There’s a reason why God tells us to be still. It isn’t to keep us where He wants us forever. It’s because He is molding the very best in us and out of us, so that we will be prepared for His

forever. We can take that as a sure sign that we are not just here to exist....but we’re here to be who God created us to be. God is not a God of fear, but of great power, love and of sound mind. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind - (2 Timothy 1:7) I was told the other day in the wake of all this virus, COVID-19/Corona pandemic that we need to be cautious and stay inside, while they brought up the very day that God sent out a plague into the homes of the Egyptians when Pharaoh disobeyed Him. However, those who relive this particular scripture forget that God protected His own. They were told to put lambs blood at the doors and fear not. So when we think about this particular scripture, we also need to remember God’s instructions when He sent out the plague. We have the blood of the lamb around us, on us, and living in us! Whom or what shall we fear? That’s the million-dollar question of the day. But who can answer it with the same power that stands behind them? It’s so easy to “preach” the “no fear” sermon when nothing big is going on. A simple solution to the problem is to always read out of scripture. Until.....the going gets tough and that simple life turns into a killer virus! What then? Are the scriptures still alive? Do we still walk as if we serve a mighty God or do we allow fear to step in? There is no golden rule for faith. It’s simple. We either believe or we don’t! The choice is definitely ours!!! Everything lay in God’s hands: our jobs, our education, our food, and our scary, shaky uncertain paths! The road ahead may seem
blurred, but God is already there! Today, remind yourself who you are. A child of God! Never forget the God who used the enemies the Prince to free the slaves, sent Noah on a mission in raging waters, placed Jonah in the belly of a fish, sat Esther higher than her King, spoke the future through Isaiah, and with His powerful whisper, demanded satan to never touch one hair on Job’s head! THAT IS THE GOD WE SERVE!!! The Father who built the universe and everything that has breath. To fear is a choice! It is a tool that the enemy uses well! The next time that fear comes to scare you......introduce him to the One who overcame the world!

SALAD WITH GRILL CHICKEN
Eating healthier is vital during this pandemic because it will build our immune system and ensure that we don’t gain a bunch of weight. Many people are complaining that they are eating more than usual as the country has mandatory stay at home orders. Since we are eating more, let’s eater smarter. Salads are the way to go. They are delicious and filling if you have the right ingredients. They can also be low in calories based on your toppings such as cucumbers, tomatoes, croutons, almonds, cheese and a light dressing. Salads don’t have to be boring or dull. Try adding a delicious juicy grilled chicken breast versus a fried chicken breast.

IDENTITY Taylur Holland
My identity is founded upon the words that You spoke. Long ago, before the beginning of time, You were, And You gave me a name. You named me and gave me a purpose. You planned my course and wrote my story. Every day, I live out these words And move closer and closer to destiny. There are conditions and there are delays, but Your words are infallible. I make mistakes, but I’ve been graced with Your identity. In Your image, I was formed, And into sin I was born, But through redemption I am being reconciled to Your finished work And who I am has not been made null and void. My spirit and my flesh are in constant enmity, Warring to the point of unrest, But still, I am a word that passed through flawless lips. Still, I am a child, a king, a daughter of the Most High, for I came from Wonder and Delight.
That is my identity. That is who I am – a word founded upon authority, power, and majesty – A word that was spoken from the core of a flawless heart – A word that came from Greatness Himself. Oh how I am in awe that He even takes thought of me! I am a manifestation of His word – words that have been settled in heaven for ages – even before Time learned its name and proper place. I am seated in heavenly places, amongst stars that have been counted as righteous through faith in Him Who came to show me who I am. What a reflection – what a matchless image... Oh how I’ve been graced to look just like Him! I am a word made manifest here in the earth, A word that will return to Him – but not without first accomplishing what He set out for me to do...for it is all for His eternal glory and purpose. I am a word that will not return to Him void. That is my identity.

THE PASTOR’S SECRET Kimberly Moses
The Last Confession It’s a Tuesday afternoon at St. George’s Triangle Hospital. The intensive atmosphere is felt as the medical staff paced through the halls. Shawn Wayne stared into the hallway as he laid in bed. He could hear alarms going off and the staff discussing his case. Dr. Frank Shirapo had given him a bad prognosis two days ago. Dr. Frank Shirapo: Mr. Wayne. Your results show that you have (PCP) Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia and non-hodgkin lymphoma.
You are also septic. The mortality rate is high. Most people don’t last very long. We will do all we can to save your life and make you comfortable. Do you have any questions? Do you have anyone you can call? Shawn: “No. I’m all alone,” as dread starts to sink in. Dr. Frank Shirapo: “Very well. We will get someone from our medical staff to come to sit with you. Shawn: Thank you, Doctor.
REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE MAY 2020
Dr. Frank Shirapo walks out of the room. His nurse Susan had positioned his bed into the upright position a half an hour ago. St. George’s Triangle Hospital was considered the top facility in neurology, but here Shawn laid dying. Shawn: “I’m too young to die,” he thinks to himself. “It’s been two weeks and I’m getting worse.” Shawn knew that his time was running out. His mind was full of fear, regrets, and disbelief. The fear of death overwhelmed him. He looked down at his wrist band as a reminder that this wasn’t a dream but reality. He was shocked at how skinny his arms had become. His usual weight is 220 pounds, which is perfect for his 6’1 height. Now he is frail, only weighing 160 pounds. Shawn could barely eat his meatloaf, broccoli, mash potatoes, and gravy that was served for lunch. He took three bites of the meatloaf and was done. He was able to wash it down with a couple of swallows of unsweetened ice tea. Shawn: “As good as this food looks, I’m just not hungry.” Susan: Mr. Wayne. You have to eat to gain strength. If you don’t, then we will have to put in a feeding tube. Shawn: “I will try,” he said disappointedly. Susan was a young Asian nurse who had a bubbly personality. Her smile brightened up anyone’s day. She would often hum songs of the latest hits on the radio. She seemed to really care about her patients. The first day Shawn saw her, his heart trusted her. He felt calm around Susan because she wasn’t rude like some of the other nurses that he had encountered previously. A few nights ago, he swore that a nurse

named Josh tried to kill him. He was inexperienced and seemed lazy. Shawn kept complaining about abdominal pain and needed restroom assistance, but the nurse was nowhere in sight. He ended up having a bowel movement on himself. That was strike number one. His anger raged through him as he had to wait to be cleaned up fifteen minutes later. The stench of his feces filled the air. When Josh came into the room, he gave him a piece of his mind. Shawn: Man, I wish you would just do your job! I have been ringing this call bell for a while. No one should be treated like this! Josh: Mr. Wayne, I apologize. There was an emergency down the hall. I got here as fast as I could. Strike two was when Josh had a medicine mixup. He almost gave Shawn another patient’s medication. Shawn didn’t feel right about it.

Shawn: You are trying to kill me! I don’t trust you. I want another nurse,” he snarled. Josh: Mr. Wayne. I assure you that I’m doing my job, which is to provide you with excellent care. Shawn: Then, why are you trying to give me Mrs. Johnson’s medications? This bottle says her name. Embarrassed, Josh takes the bottle from Shawn and apologizes. He then hands him the right medication. Shawn: I would like to talk to your supervisor. The head nurse, Florence, enters the room. She is an elderly woman with lots of experience. Florence: Mr. Wayne. I apologize for any mistakes or inconvenience. We are assigning you a new nurse. Her name is Susan and you will love her. Shawn: Sighs a breath of relief and lays his head back unto the pillow. As Susan moved the lunch tray that sat for a couple of hours out of the way, Shawn’s eyes followed the long nasal cannula connected to the wall pumping 6L of oxygen into his lungs. The tubing rested in his nostrils, behind his ears, and underneath his chin. Over the last weeks, his breathing has become labored. It seemed that he couldn’t get enough air when he would walk. When he was admitted to the hospital, his oxygen saturations were 83% on room air. The 6L of oxygen increased his saturations to 98%. Shawn’s eyes began to look at the IV that was stuck in the back of his hand. Susan had just put a syringe of medicine in it. Susan: Mr. Wayne. You seem restless. Would you like to talk to the Chaplain? It might do
you some good? Shawn: Yes. I would love that. Susan: Great. I’ll make the call downstairs to the Chapel. Shawn: Thank you. Susan: “You’re welcome,” she said as she walked out of the room. As Shawn waited for the chaplain to come, he started to feel weak again. His strength was leaving him each day. He didn’t want to waste anymore energy by chasing cords, wires, and tubes with his eyes out of boredom. So he decided to rest. He needed to tell someone, who wouldn’t judge him his secret. He had been carrying this heavy burden and hated himself for all the evil that he had done ten months prior. The guilt, pain, and shame felt worse than a death sentence. As Shawn started to doze off, there was a light tap on the door. He opened his eyes to see that the chaplain had finally arrived. Shawn was always a man of faith, so it felt reassuring to know he could speak to someone who believed the same. The chaplain was a middle age, Caucasian man. His grey streaked beard told the story of wisdom even though his face was young. Yet, he looked older because of the salt and pepper hair covering his head. The chaplain walks up to Shawn’s bed and extended his hand to shake it. Chaplain Sam: Hi. I’m Sam. Nice to meet you. Shawn: My name is Shawn. The two men shook hands. Chaplain Sam pulls up a chair next to the bed and sits. Chaplain Sam: Susan tells me that you are restless and you need to talk to someone. I can remember when I was anxious when I was

going through a dark time in my life. I was struggling to pay my way through college and I didn’t know how I was going to make it. Yet, the Lord came through for me. Another time, I felt scared was when my daughter was in a car accident and everyone thought that she wasn’t going to make it. I had to use my faith and stand on the word of God. Miraculously, she pulled through and now she is away at college. Shawn: Amen. That is very encouraging. Your situation is different than mine. I’m a bad person. I did a lot of wicked things. The guilt that I’m feeling is eating me up inside. Chaplain: Mr. Wayne, I can relate. I know how that feels to feel full of condemnation, but there is hope in Jesus Christ. Do you know Him? Shawn: Yes. I knew him. I used to be a pastor of a mega church but sinned against Him. You probably heard of me. You are right about being full of condemnation. That’s my problem. Chaplain: Shawn, the Bible says, “As far as the east is from the west, so are your transgression far from me. These aren’t my words but God’s. You may have messed up, but God is merciful. He loves you so much. Once you repent of those sins, He throws them into the sea of forgetfulness. The devil is the culprit behind the condemnation that you are feeling. Romans 8 verse 1 tells us that there is no condemnation of those who belong to Christ Jesus who walk in the Spirit. Shawn: Yes. That’s so reassuring to hear that. I have been allowing the devil to torment me. Every day, I live with the pain and agony of what I have done. Shawn starts to cry and chaplain Sam hands him a kleenex. Shawn: “I made a mistake and hurt so many people,” he sobs. I don’t even feel like God hears my prayers and I feel so distant from
Him. Chaplain: Sin does make us feel distant from God, guilty and condemned. But there is hope. God is a God of multiple chances. Will you let him in your heart today? Shawn: Yes, but I need to confess my sins first. I haven’t talked about this since this happened. The doctors are saying that I don’t have too much longer to live. I don’t want to die carrying this baggage. I want to feel the peace of God again, so I know that when I die, I’ll be in eternity with Him. Chaplain: You can tell me, Shawn. The Bible says to confess your sins to one another so you can be healed. I believe that as you clear your consciousness today, you will receive healing in your soul. Shawn: It all started to go south when I met this man named Donald. The Pastor’s Secret Coming Soon

PHOTOGRAPHER MICHAEL MOORER Interviewed by Kimberly Moses Interviewer: Hello. I am good. Thank you so much for accepting our invite for Rejoice Essential Magazine. I see you all the time through Prophet Deon and my husband has told me so much about you. It is so awesome to see a Man of God on fire for God and doing what you do. Photographer Michael Moorer: Thank you! God is good! Interviewer: I would like to start with the basics from the beginning like how you accepted Jesus into your heart? How old were you? And how did it happen? Photographer Michael Moorer: So I was thinking about that question and I grew up in a Christian home, so all I knew was the ways of God being factored for me. I can’t remember when I accepted Christ because I grew up in that atmosphere. I grew up as a believer. However, I do want to make mention that I remember rededicating my life around the age of 21 years old. It was a moment when I started to have my own personal experiences with God. From that point, I just kept ascending in God and continued seeking after His ways in doing things. Interviewer: Ok! Awesome! I remember at the age of 21, I was bad, Man of God. (Laughs) I had a near-death experience. I almost died in a car accident. The devil tried to kill me. Afterward, I just got on fire for God. I just said, “Ok, God, I want to be saved for real and stop running from you.” So that is awesome that you rededicated your life at that age.
Photographer Michael Moorer: Right! I think that at some point when you grow up with Christian parents, you see the things of God being practiced before you and you know that dedicating your life to Christ is one of those things that you are going to do growing up in a Christian home. If you don’t bypass the stage of that second-hand relationship, you will never get to understand who God is for yourself. I think in the beginning stages, it was that second-hand relationship when I knew God based on what my parents knew and what they taught. It was around the age of 21 when I started to have my own personal experience. Interviewer: Wow! Okay! So how did you get into photography? Is anybody in your family a photographer? What inspired you to develop a passion for photography? Photographer Michael Moorer: As long as I can remember, I have always been an artistic child. One of the things that really got me into photography was my mother had an old school 35mm camera when I was younger. When I knew what a camera was, I would always get her camera and start playing with it. I don’t remember a moment when I didn’t have a camera in my hands. So when I understood what they did and how to capture an image, I used to always go to Walmart and purchase the throwaway cameras. They were really popular at one point and every week I pretty much had one. So throughout high school, I was the cameraman and I took pic-

tures of everything. I really enjoy being able to capture moments and different things in life. However, I think that there was a turning point one day as I was sitting home. I called a friend and I said, “You know, I am bored and I just got out of church. Can we go to the park and shoot some pictures for MySpace?” MySpace was popular back then. Interviewer: (Laughing) I remember that! Yes, I remember (laughs). Photographer Michael Moorer: (Laughs) So after that point, we went outside to take some photos. My friend and I realized that they were more than just photos. We realized that I had captured images with great lighting, with great composure and all those elements that a professional would do. I did it without being one at that time. So he encouraged me to take some classes and different things of that nature. It was one of those years that I was telling God that I’m going to do something different. I am not going to settle with just being average because I am going to just
step out of the box and do things that I feel lead to do. So I did that and became certified as a photographer. I started a business from that point. I have been shooting pictures ever since. Interviewer: Amen. So how is it being a photographer in the industry with your faith? Do you ever have challenges and how do you overcome them? Photographer Michael Moorer: When I first got into photography as a believer, there were some things that I did have to learn along the way. Yet, I came into the photography world intending to make sure that I represented God. That was my number one intention. When you understand your standards are of God as a believer, you have to be different from the average person. Then you have clarity within that realm, within that scope of influence, that you don’t need to take on the same things as those who really don’t care about the things of God. So I went in knowing that I needed to have a standard and to represent God. If I didn’t get certain people based on my standards, then it would be okay because if you don’t have a standard in your life, you will fall for anything and you just become a casualty. Interviewer: Yes! I love how you talk about the standard because that is one of the things that vexes me when people start off right, and then they just lose their standard. I applaud you for keeping the standard of Christ. That is just awesome to see. Photographer Michael Moorer: Thank You! Interviewer: So, I wanted to ask you about lighting now. I never really paid attention until I met Tron. He always used to go around with these lights and I use to get mad at him saying, “I don’t need no lights.” I didn’t understand that it is important and makes the photo look nice. I would ask him, “Why do we need lights in the park when we have the sun?” I did not understand it. Even when I do

my videos, sometimes, I always used to get frustrated at my husband and say, “Babe, I just want to do a video. I don’t need the light.” Now I see the importance of it. (Laughs) So what is your take on that about the lighting? Why do you use lights? And why are lights important in photography? Photographer Michael Moorer: Lighting is everything. Let me just say that. (Laughs) Lighting is very important because it helps you to improve whatever you are photographing. If you understand lighting, you get an opportunity to make things look better. It is an art form as well because you get an opportunity to really bring out the best of whatever the subject is that you are photographing, whether it is food or a person. The way that you light a subject will make it or break it period! So when something is lit very well, you will

”
have clarity. There are so many elements that come when you know how to light something well and it brings out whatever you are doing. Photography or videography, it makes work look so much better. Interviewer: Amen! So I want to talk about your book. First, I want to ask you about God’s Mind on the Matter. I think that you have a workbook and a devotional with that. Tell us about your books and what inspired you to write your books? Photographer Michael Moorer: Well, as for God’s Mind on the Matter, I would say that it has been in the making for years because a lot of the things that God inspired me to write are the things that have been in my mind and spirit for many years. A lot of people don’t know that I also sing and I am a musician. I play the piano. Interviewer: What! Okay! Photographer Michael Moorer: I am an allaround talent. I grew up in a Christian home. When you come from that background, you get to visit a lot of churches and see a lot of things, especially being part of the music ministry — some things you witness don’t necessarily represent God. Being a young boy, I already had a strong sense of discernment in me. Listening to what I have been taught (we had Bible Study at home as well at church) and when I saw something else, I saw a conflict. So when I would see things that did not measure up, I knew that there was a breach in that situation. Interviewer: Can you give me an example of the things that you saw that was a conflict? Photographer Michael Moorer: One of the things that you see all the time is people who would appear to be having an experience with God, but the experience never goes further than that moment in church. They would appear to be happy, but it never extended further than that moment, because when

you deal with them afterward, they are very carnal or worldly. I dealt with things that you thought should never come from a person who says that they love the Lord, and who fall out first every Sunday! (Laughs) I have always had an issue with that because I used to say that something was wrong with this picture. If you have that much God in you, why don’t I see it before you start getting happy and afterward? Interviewer: Right! Photographer Michael Moorer: So there’s an issue somewhere that hasn’t been dealt with and that is what I saw a lot: a form of godliness but individuals who lacked the power thereof! I knew that said a lot about the person in their relationship with God. So consistently seeing that in different churches, there was one thing I understood that always stood out among other things: people did not understand worship. You will go into church and people would really celebrate praise and they love fast music or just music period. When it transitions to slow music or a moment to talk about God, how awesome and great He is, or when it was not about how we felt, you could tell the difficult language and people were confused because you can’t worship God unless you have a relationship with Him. The only thing that you can do is praise because it is open to humanity. Worship is open to people that have a relationship with God. So they gave me insight that there is something wrong about their relationship with God that didn’t allow them to ascend to that place of worship - from praise to a place of worship. A place where it was all about God and not about what He has done. So one day back in 2007, sitting at the instrument, God dropped the book into my spirit. I was waiting for God because I always knew that I would write. I was waiting for the opportunity where God would release me to write the book. I had tried before in 2013 or 2014, but it just flopped, so that gave me the indication that it wasn’t the right time. But when I heard it sitting at the instrument, I told myself that I

”
would start writing the next day and I won’t stop. So I got up the next day and started to write and I never stopped. (Laughs) Interviewer: Amen.
Photographer Michael Moorer: And in all of the subtitles, nothing was forged whatsoever. Anytime that I write anything, nothing is forged because when I hear it, I get my phone and I write it down because I know that it is something that God wants to say about this subject matter. So that was the birth of God’s Mind on the Matter. Interviewer: Yes and before you answer the other question about your new devotional, I know you said that your book flopped and that happened to me with my second book. It sat on the shelf, man of God, a whole year and nobody bought it. I wanted to quit and give up but I didn’t. That is encouraging to know that you didn’t stop. You kept writing. Every time God spoke or gave you something, you said, “No, I don’t want to miss it, so I am just going to record it, check that word and continue to write.” So that is powerful and I want people to really get this and understand that

we can’t quit. Let’s fight the challenges and if it doesn’t work out the first time, you have to keep going. I love that you brought that out. Photographer Michael Moorer: Correct! And yours made it further than mine because mine flopped before it even made it to the shelf. I didn’t even get through chapter 1. (Laughs) Everything just fell through. I didn’t get any inspiration and it happened twice, so I just told myself that, “It must not be the time.” I didn’t force it. Interviewer: Right! So what about your new book? Can you tell us about that? Photographer Michael Moorer: Yes! Spiritual Quotes & Commentary is another book of mine that God gave me. Quotes and different saying that I have been saying throughout the day. It has been that way for years now. I think that I get them even more now, with clarity and different things of that nature. I started writing Spiritual Quotes & Commentary at the same time that I was writing Mind On The Matter, so I was writing two books at once. God was doing a lot of speaking, so I was writing. How I did it was whenever my editors would get the first book and start doing something with it, I would focus on the other book. When I get information back from them, I would set that up and put Spiritual Quotes & Commentary aside. Spiritual Quotes & Commentary is a 30 day devotional with Godly wisdom, insight, and knowledge. They are spiritual quotes that are backed up by scriptures with spiritual commentary explaining what that quote meant and how the scripture backs it up. It is also an easy read for people who are on the go, just to get people’s minds safely in the right direction because the mind is the battlefield. If you understand the mind of Christ and how to keep your mind from a lot of the things that are after your thoughts, it will be okay. Especially if you are going to be a person who has a profile on Facebook where you have a lot of thoughts and ideology but most of what you see is not God. So to combat and counter all of the
misinformation that is spewed out on social platforms, television, and all over the place, you have to know the mind of Christ. So when you hear something that doesn’t measure up to his mind, you already know that it is false information. So once again, Spiritual Quotes & Commentary just helps bring a person’s mind back to the place of righteousness and truth in a more simplistic form. Interviewer: Okay, that sounds good. How long did it take you to write the books? Photographer Michael Moorer: I would say with this particular one didn’t take as long as it took with God’s Mind On The Matter because that was my very first book, so I was pretty much trailblazing the writing process. I had never written before. God was showing me how to do everything as far as putting it together and how to look at the other examples. Once you learn something the first time, you can build it again. So I was able to build this book with a shorter time frame attached to it because of the first one. But I think it took me maybe a little less than a year. Interviewer: That’s good! So how did you find the time the write books? I know you do pho-

tography, and I know you are probably active in the church. Photographer Michael Moorer: That’s always an interesting question. I would say I am very time cautious. Interviewer: Ok! I sleep on purpose. I use all of my time purposefully. Since I’m a morning person, I just dedicated myself to getting up early. Interviewer: Good.
Photographer Michael Moorer: Around three o’clock or four o’clock in the morning. Interviewer: Wow! Photographer Michael Moore: My best writing time was around three o’clock in the morning to four or four-thirty. I still leave a window in my life to studying the Word and prayer. Interviewer: Amen! Photographer Michael Moorer: I have to do my writing time in the morning because I’m less distracted. My mind is clear, I’m rested, and I don’t have things contending - no distractions. So Monday through Sunday, I’m getting up every day at three o’clock to threethirty to write and to commune with God. I still do that today. Interviewer: That’s awesome! It’s interesting that you said that because I watch a lot of videos on publishing and writing. I’m a publisher and author. I talk to some editors and they say the same thing. The best time to write your book, believe it or not, is three or four o’clock in the morning. I never really did that, but it’s funny that you say that. Like wow, so they were right. They also do exercises. They call it morning pages. When you get up at three or five o’clock in the morning, and you just write and write three to four pages to practice writing skills. Very disciplined. I think that’s awesome. Photographer Michael Moorer: It takes a lot of discipline to write a book, as you know yourself. You have to stay committed to the process. Even during those moments where your mind is going crazy, there’s so much literature in front of you. You got to reread it, make sure it’s edited right, and it’s a very tedious thing, but when you keep the main thing, how people are going to be helped by this book, you’ll get the strength to keep moving forward. Interviewer: Absolutely. I meet a lot of people that are always trying to connect. They are

always like, “Prophetess or women of God, how do you start writing a book?” What advice would you give someone who wanted to start writing a book, but they don’t know how? Photographer Michael Moorer: Ummmm, you just start. Interviewer: That’s right. I love that. You just start. Photographer Michael Moorer: You just start. There is no right or wrong when you really look at it. When you start, then you will real-
ize that this may not be the beginning of the book, but it could be the middle. It could be the ending. Our responsibility is to start writing. Find whatever subject matter that is pressing upon your spirit the most and just start writing on that subject matter. Every time God gives you something, start writing on it and then before you know it, you can rearrange it how you want to put the book together. Interviewer: Yes! Do you have any more books coming? What’s the next book? Photographer Michael Moorer : Absolutely! I’m working on my Volume 2 of Spiritual Quotes

And Commentary. I have probably close to one hundred pages of quotes and insight that God has given me from 2008 all through this year. So anytime I get any quote or inspiration from God, I just go to my phone and write it down. I make sure I don’t miss that moment because it’s important to write things down as God gives them to you because in moments if you try to remember it, you won’t remember it. Or when you try to remember it, you won’t remember it the way God gave it to you. It will be missing some type of element, so anytime I hear it and it’s powerful, I go to my phone immediately. “Let me write this down because this means something and I’m going to come back to it in the morning or whenever.” Interviewer: Yes. Do you mentor? Do you take people underneath your wing and raise them up and train them? Photographer Michael Moorer: I do. I have classes that I host. I’m still looking for that mentee that’s willing to put in the work. That is the most challenging part about finding someone to mentor as it relates to photography. You have to make sure that you’re not casting your pearls before swine. Interviewer: Absolutely! Photographer Michael Moorer: You want tp make sure that you’re not giving all of your energy out to people who don’t stay in it for the long haul. Interviewer: Yes. Photographer Michael Moorer: So I’m learning. I’m looking for those who are willing, have the right intention to do something of this nature and make sure that the reason for doing it is correct as well. I understand the reason why we do a thing is what will keep you doing it for a long period. Interviewer: I’m happy you said that because what dropped in my Spirit to ask you was about relationships and opportunists. I know
maybe people will look at you and they feel like you have a name or platform and want to attach themselves to you. Do you face that a lot in what you’re called to do? I have. I’m like my God! Where do these people come from God. You know? How do you deal with that? How do you weed those people out? I’m so serious, man of God. Photographer Michael Moorer: That is interesting. I’m pretty sure that I’ve encountered that and I don’t deal with it so much yet on this end, but I just stay discerning. If they come to me and say certain things, what I go and do immediately is I just start watching them. I want to know who is this that’s trying to connect themselves to me. A lot of times, I will watch them over a while because what I want to see is consistency and character because it is important to me. I look for those things that are important to me as well as important to God. So before I attach myself to people, I want to know who is it that I’m attaching myself to because God wants us to be attached to people and come into connection with those who are like nature. Interviewer: Yes! That’s good. That’s right. I’m looking at the character and the fruit. I like what you said: just being watchful. One thing I’ve learned is who and not to help in ministry because I have a heart to give. Photographer Michael Moorer: Most definitely. It’s important. Interviewer: How did you connect with Prophet Dion? Photographer Michael Moorer: That is always an interesting story. Dion and I have a mutual friend that I’ve been knowing for over a decade now, but Dion has known him since childhood. It is very interesting how God brings things around full circle. Back in 2017, I was just going through this shift and just understanding God on another level and just was ready to grow. I knew that there is so much more to God than what I saw in
church and understanding that there is more to me than what I even understand because of growing up in certain denominations and different things like that. All of them don’t believe in the full Bible but I am one of the ones who believe in everything that the Lord said. There was something different about me and there were a lot of intuitive things in my whole makeup that [made me know that] I needed to locate a Prophet. I needed to have Prophet in my life and I was talking to a friend and I asked him, “Do you know of a Prophet that is very integral?” because I didn’t want to mix myself up with people who weren’t integral. I asked him because he already knew by me being friends with him all those years.
He already knew my expectations. So I asked him, “Do you know of anybody because I really need a mentor because I am not getting what I need from church and the atmosphere that I was in.” I know that all churches are not the same, but I needed to have someone in my life that believed in the full Bible and not just parts that they wanted to believe. So he connected me with Dion, who is one amazing person with humility and one of the kindest people in my life. He is just kind and I have never met anyone as kind as he is and it is really great. Interviewer: Are you and Dion able to see each other often, because I know you live in
42

Alabama? Photographer Michael Moorer: Yes, he lives in New York and we don’t get to see each other often but we communicate often. I was able to kind of hang out with him, you know, this year in New York and it was really good. Interviewer: Good! I am glad you said that because I have a lot of people that follow my ministry and they don’t live in South Carolina but they live elsewhere. And many people feel like you can’t have a mentor in a different state than you but just looking at your relationship with Prophet Dion, you can because there is no distance in the spirit. You still receive and you still are blessed by the mantle that is on the Man of God’s life. Photographer Michael Moorer: Most definitely. At the same time you really have to break down these two factors: are they really looking for a mentor or are they looking to be babied? Those are two different things. Interviewer: Amen! Talk about it! Photographer Michael Moorer: Some people are looking to be babied, you know, versus being mentored because as it relates to mentorship, you already come with some level of maturity about yourself. Some people just want to be babied and that is not what I am going for because I am mature. Interviewer: I know that is right! So have you ever had a supernatural encounter with the Lord? Photographer Michael Moorer: I have, you know. There has been a moment where I was in a situation and I believe that I heard the audible voice of God and He was saying, “Get out!” (Laughs) Interviewer: Jesus! (Laughs) Photographer Michael Moorer: From that moment, it shook me. People couldn’t un-
derstand certain things about that moment but I knew that I had heard from God. It was one of those moments around my early 20’s where God was really pressing Himself upon me. I was really understanding and there were different things that I was sensing such as the insight of going to another level. God was just pulling and pulling and even though I didn’t have a lot of word for it at that moment, I knew that it was that our relationship would be birthed out of that relationship with God. Throughout my whole life, there have been significant moments I can see where I can go back and say that it was most definitely God. There have been times where I prayed about something consistently and before I even knew it, God had broken that situation and I was no longer dealing with that and I know it was the power of God even in that. So I haven’t had a lot of different encounters with God that I didn’t know that it was Him. Interviewer: Amen. When is your music album coming out? (Laughs) Photographer Michael Moorer: Say that one more time! Interviewer: When is your album coming out for your music? (Laughs) Photographer Michael Moorer: (Laughs) I have no idea!! That is a good question right there. (Laughs) Interviewer: Amen! I was just throwing in an extra question. You know how I do. Okay, what advice would you give someone who is afraid to leave their full-time job to go into full-time business? Photographer Michael Moorer: My first advice would be to seek God! Find out if God has called you to a place of entrepreneurship because there are a lot of things that you see on Facebook that has a lot of influence for people to become entrepreneurs and different things like that. God didn’t call everybody to become an entrepreneur, so if He has called
REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE MAY 2020
you to become an entrepreneur, then there is a grace on your life to do just that. The only thing that the individual has to be concerned about now is timing. Is it time for me to step out and do this because I want to be sensitive to the timing because if it is not then I won’t? But if you know that God is calling you to do this and it is your time and season, then you can move forward and step out and trust God in the process. However, you just don’t up and leave your job. (Laughs) You have to do all things in decency and in order. So I would say seek God, make sure you are called to be an entrepreneur, pray about timing, and start preparing yourself for that transition. Interviewer: That is good that you said that because I remember when I used to work in health care for like ten years and I kept getting words about me going into full time ministry before I was fired. I was on probation and my job found out that I had been bad. I was like, “Ah, I don’t think so!” But I didn’t know that I was going to be fired. (Laughs) So that got me off of my job and God had put a grace and anointing on me. I had to start living in full-time faith. I said. “God, you got me, so I am not going to worry about anything.” Then He gave me a business, a publishing company, the books, then the magazine and I am like [wow]. God just added to me. Even though in the natural, it looked like I had lost, but I actually gained through Christ. So that is amazing that you said that God will give you the grace and you have to prepare yourself. Yes, God was preparing me. So if someone is having a hard time right now emotionally and they want to quit and give up what words will you give them? Photographer Michael Moorer: The very first thing that I would advise is seek God and I know that a lot of people think that is a played out assignment, but it doesn’t get any greater than Him. Because I know without a fact that there is nothing that someone outside can tell you that will deliver me like something God will tell me. So if I can just seek God and really remain in His Word, there
is stability in His word because it is life that frees, delivers, keeps, and holds me greater than anything a person can tell me. So I would say seek God, read His Word, and worship Him. There is power, deliverance, and everything that we need is in Him. Once you get in Him, then you will not have to depend on someone else to give you something when you have a God that can give you everything. Interviewer: Amen. That is great advice. So how can our readers connect with you? Photographer Michael Moorer: All of my readers and all of your readers can connect with me through www.MichaelMoorerbooks.com. You can also connect with me through social media MichaelMoorerbooks. All of this is consistent through Facebook and Instagram. These are the only two social media sites that I have. Interviewer: What about your photography? Photographer Michael Moorer: You can connect with me as it relates to photography at www.MichaelMoorerPhotography.com and they can also connect with me on social media with the link that is on the website. Interviewer: On your photography site, that is where they can sign up for the classes and mentorship? Photographer Michael Moorer: Correct! Interviewer: Okay Great. Thank you man of God. That is the end of the interview today and I appreciate your time. Photographer Michael Moorer: Thank you so much. It was great.

“The Making of A Prophet: Women Walking In Prophetic Destiny” is a must read! When I started reading the first declaration, I could feel the fire of God, so I knew this book was anointed. Some of the declarations in this book are declarations that I either already speak or have spoken over myself, and there are other declarations in this book I felt were for me. I also appreciate Prophetess Kim’s testimonies in this book. The transparency she displays is encouraging because just like so many others (including myself ), Prophetess Kim did not see herself as being worthy enough to used by God, especially as a prophet. When God called Prophetess Kim to the office of a prophet, she felt that she was in a terrible state in her life, but being in that state was how she was able to trust and rely on God. When Prophetess Kim finally surrendered to God, He was able to use her more for His glory. “The Making of A Prophet: Women Walking In Prophetic Destiny” is truly a blessing for me because it gives me the encouragement and boldness that I need to move in the prophetic without focusing on the distractions or objections from others who disagree with women operating in their God-given assignment. People will try to put limits on you, but when it comes to God, there are no limitations; Prophetess Kim makes that clear in this book. She challenges and breaks the barriers some people try to use against women operating in church, ministry, five-fold offices, etc. “The Making of A Prophet: Women Walking In Prophetic Destiny” will inspire you to move forward in your assignment with the confidence in knowing that God has you, He is with you, and you have what it takes to carry out His purpose for your life, with or without the approval of others. Thank you, Prophetess Kim, for allowing God to use you to bring this much-needed book forward, blessings to you always! —LaShana Lloyd *** This book is very necessary! Women are misunderstood not only throughout the world as far as equality, but they are also misunderstood when it comes to God’s purpose in their lives. God mandated everyone, male or female, with a purpose. I’m so glad that this book described Biblical women that God uses continually throughout the Word of God as well as powerful testimonies from the writer, Prophetess Kimberly Moses. Being a student of the School of Prophets, Prophetess Kimberly imparts to her students, and we began to flow in dreams, visions, Word of knowledge, Word of Wisdom and increase of discerning of spirits. Her Love for people and God shows and is all in the fruit God does through Prophetess Kimberly. This book will bless you! — Anstrice Mcmillian Epps *** I enjoy reading books by Prophetess Kimberly Moses. She’s an amazing teacher of the Prophetic Ministry and an asset to the Body of Christ. This book will enlighten your understanding of the Women Prophets in Biblical times and help you to understand what women Prophets of today are dealing with. It will bring clarity of your own identity as a Prophet of God. I used to feel left out and different from the rest, until I found people that were just like myself. Her books are filled with wisdom; the knowledge you obtain from her books will stick with you. I had the pleasure of taking her course “School of the Prophets,” which was life-changing for me. I encourage anyone looking to fulfill the prophetic call on your life to take her course. You will never be the same. — Felecia Jackson
