ONE NATION WITHOUT GOD Melinda Roberts

The nations have fallen into the pit they dug for others. Their own feet have been caught in the trap they set. The LORD is known for his justice. The wicked are trapped by their own deeds. The wicked will go down to the grave. This is the fate of all the nations who ignore God. But the needy will not be ignored forever; the hopes of the poor will not always be crushed. -Psalm 9:15-18 NLT The repercussions of America no longer being a Christian nation

weigh heavily more and more with the encroaching darkness that permeates each passing day, manifested in the increase of heinous, senseless actions of mankind toward each other and unmatched hatred toward God and everything righteous. America, as a heathenistic nation, is no longer just an ideology, but a resounding truth that causes even greater concern for the direction in which this nation is hurling like a freight train, more so for the souls of those who make up

the citizens and occupants of this nation. The recent attempted erection of the satanic idol, a statue of Baphomet, in front of the Arkansas Capitol building, in direct defiance to the monument of the Ten Commandments, was the latest, strongest indicator of our nation’s impending demise. The banner of America as a nation of religious freedom that permits the exaltation of every idol god satiates and appeases the heart of man but grieves the heart of God.

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

There was a time in America that such defiant acts against God were unheard of, but now, God, in the hearts and minds of people, is becoming a distant, undesirable, and intrusive memory. That which is socially acceptable has taken precedence over the Bible, causing the Word of God to become seemingly more and more antiquated and irrelevant (2 Timothy 4:3-4). A secular artist who confessed to lying about getting pregnant out of wedlock in her early twenties made the statement that during the time she got pregnant, being pregnant and unmarried was “not the trend, but a sin.” In like fashion, what society deems acceptable is acceptable, and the masses have taken to developing their own rules and standards of living, never considering the consequences of their actions. Regardless of how society may attempt to twist and negate the consequences, sin produces death (Romans 6:23). As we so emphatically dismiss God from our schools, our lives, and even our churches, there is indeed an exchange, naturally manifested as a statue of Baphomet and monument of Baal, but spiritually manifested in ways that mankind will fail to realize until it is too late. In mankind’s arrogance and defiance, we have been duped, blinded because of our unwillingness to acknowledge God and, instead, serve all that has been createdmoney, power, and possessionsrather than God, the Creator

Himself (2 Corinthians 4:4, Romans 1:25). Even as the sins of man have become a stench in God’s nostrils and the cup of wrath is overflowing, the masses have yet to see the judgment that has been set for not only this nation, but the world. If we fail to repent and turn back to God, we inadvertently choose His wrath, His judgment (Jeremiah 25:15). I am reminded of the cries of the prophets of old, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel, as God poured out His heart, sending His prophets, His mouthpieces to plead with the people to repent. As it was then, it certainly is today. There is nothing new under the sun, and just as our brothers and sisters of yesterday barreled toward the devastating effects of disregarding God and His laws, statutes, and truth, such is the case today. Not only is failing to believe God’s Word is true a problem for the unbeliever, but unfortunately, this is a problem for even those within the Body of Christ. The Word of God refers to lukewarm believers, stating that He would rather us be hot or cold, or He will spew us out of His mouth (Revelation 3:16). Those who purposely live surrendered lives to God must press in even harder in this hour to stay in obedience and compliance to what God desires. The lines can easily become blurred if we give in to this prevailing false teaching of love and acceptance that is swarming our churches and gracing the lips

of the majority of our “celebrity preachers”. Compromise has become the norm, unfortunately. Even though the warfare has become more challenging than ever, the people of God must continue to raise God’s standard 100%. If not, we too will suffer what is coming upon this nation. To be absent from the body is to be present with Lord for those Christ, but it would be a shame to die prematurely because of the choice to compromise or even adopt a carnal mindset. God’s mandate for us to come out and be separate still applies today (2 Corinthians 6:17). Opting for a nation without God has disturbingly produced the banning of the Bible, as is a statement of discussion in the State of California, the legalization of sex with minors, and the categorization of pedophilia as a disability, opposed to the ungodly, perverse act of sin and demonic possession and influence it truly is. It is grievous to see truth, morality, and decency turned on their heads, as we have certainly stumbled upon a day where good is called evil and evil is called good (Isaiah 5:20). It is deeply appalling to watch the sway of the masses sink seemingly obliviously into upholding wrong while the few who uphold what is right are considered anomalies, outcasts, and pariahs. Yes, we are in that day where the true children of God will be persecuted, ostracized, criticized, attacked, and ultimately martyred because we believe

11

12

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

in God, who the world believes now, more than any other time in history, is a fairy tale, a figment of one’s imagination created to control and enslave the masses (2 Timothy 3:12). God’s remnant, those we refuse to compromise will be considered hatemongers simply because we call sin exactly what God called it…sin. “United we stand…divided we fall” was once considered an adage of truth; however, if we stand united as a nation in this day-full of flagrant sin, wickedness, and belligerent rebellion against God- WE FALL! America will fall as Babylon, the Great (Revelation 18:2). There is no greatness or redemption for America without God. A dear Ghanaian friend recently asked me why I thought that Africa, with its rich culture and natural resources, was still considered a third world country that is even today ravished by poverty in so many areas. My immediate response was it is because of idols, idol worship. The back of the nation was built on polytheism, demons, and fallen gods masquerading as powers who could bless, increase and enrich, when they can only produce what is of their essencethe ability to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Our founding father, George Washington reportedly cried out to God to bless this nation, and after God has been faithful to us as a nation, we have become prideful, insolent and

dismissive before Him. America has plummeted from grace and all things deemed pure and holy. As sure as God’s Word is true, we see countless examples throughout the Word of God where disobedience and blatant rebellion has caused God to turn His back on nations, as they had for so many years turned their backs on Him. Where those nations once excelled in battle, were superior in riches, wealth, and goods, and were highly respected and reverently feared by the world as a superpower, they now have been slaughtered in battle, overtaken by the enemy, depleted of resources, and deemed so weakened that they, in fact, were considered a target for invasion by enemies who increased in animosity and numbers. Does any of this seem familiar and progressive possible regarding America? Once thriving and less than 250 years old as an independently established nation, America has far exceeded all nations and leads the world in sin, wickedness, perversion, idol worship, and all things abominable and detestable in the sight of God (Revelation 18:124). While there may be little hope for this nation overall, God’s heart is for individuals. His passion to have us restored back to Him has not and will never change (John 3:16-18). Let us strive to be “the needy” in the eyes of God, increasingly recognizing our need and complete dependence on and

reliance upon Him. Let us be considered “poor” through our posture of humility before God, so that we always maintain our audience with Him. May we all do what is required of us to be found worthy to escape the coming wrath upon this nation, this world (Luke 21:36). If we blatantly neglect salvation through Jesus Christ, how can we escape?

There was a time in America that such defiant acts against God were unheard of, but now, God, in the hearts and minds of people, is becoming a distant, undesirable, and intrusive memory.

TESTIMONIES: LET’S GIVE THE DEVIL A BLACK EYE! When we share our testimonies, our faith increases! We start to believe God for the Impossible! We can see the power and the hand of God in any situation. God can turn any test into a testimony! We know if God did it before, he can do it again. Our Testimonies glorify God!

I haven’t stopped praying since your last prayer call. I forgot to tell you the call gave me such peace. I literally fell asleep and missed my turn. —Mandy Good morning Prophetess Kimberly, I was on your prayer call. I wanted to thank you and give you a testimony about my nephew. I asked you to pray for him. To God be the glory. He is no longer an alcoholic and doesn’t smoke cigarettes anymore. I want to let you know that I received my healing tonight.

You called out issues in the hip and pain in the lower legs, ankle swelling, and tension in the neck. I was suffering from all of these things but tonight, I felt a warm sensation just above my left buttocks but the rest of my body started to really relax, I felt a cleansing like in my blood in my legs. It felt like someone was massaging my feet. Thank you for your obedience to our Father. I love you with the love of the Lord. Good morning Prophetess Kimberly, I called in for prayer

earlier this year for my mother’s sugar levels. It was up to 500!!! You prayed for her and you said you saw her sugar level at 97. Well, this morning she checked it and it was 94. Look at God showing up and showing out!! He is so good!! Thank you and all the prayer warriors for all the prayers!! You are truly a woman of the Most High God!!!

Unusual miracle!! Hello Prophetess, after being on your prayer line last night, the

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

miracles are starting. I went to the laundromat to wash my family’s clothes as I do every week. I budgeted $20. When looking at the amount of clothes we had to wash, I thought, “it’s going to cost me more,” which concerned me because I also needed to buy more food for the house. I needed a large washing machine that required 40 quarters to wash clothes. When I pushed the button, ready to pay my 40 quarters, it only asked for nine! My kids and my eyes got so big. I could not believe that this huge washing machine only asked me for nine quarters. Then these words came out of my mouth, “Unusual Miracles.”– Racquel Hi Prophetess Kimberly! I just want to give a testimony from last night’s conference call. You prayed for me to sleep better. Last night I had the best sleep ever. I woke up refreshed and well rested. Thank you, Jesus! Thank you!– Anonymous Good evening. I sent you a message on the 26th of June asking for prayer as I was struggling with pornography and you gave me the best advice on how to fight it and I am happy today to tell you that ever since that day my life changed each and every time when I use the internet, I use it for productive things such as watching anything that has to do with Jesus and other good stuff. Mrs. Moses thank you very much for praying for me and having you on my Facebook is a blessing. God bless

you. –Anonymous Sis, I just wanted you to know that you really blessed me last night. I was headed in to work and I was running a little late so I got to be on the call the first 10 minutes. You activated something in my spirit. I had been down and depressed for some time now. The enemy had me bound where I couldn’t even open my mouth. I had no desire to pray. I wanted to just give up and end it all because I saw no glimpse of light, but sis, after hearing your voice, my spirit leaped for joy. For ten minutes headed into work, I was praising and thanking God in my car. I’ve been praising and thanking Him while at work all night. My mind has been off my husband and my situation and I can finally hear God after some time now. I hear Him say, “Hold on daughter. Just give it all to me.”–Melissa Here is a testimony from my broadcast today “911 I’m saved but angry.” The Holy Spirit was all over this woman and she told me that she couldn’t stop crying. I got a word of knowledge about her having migraines and her having pain in her jaw and neck. She had this issue for years. She said that all the pain is gone. It doesn’t matter how long you dealt with something, God’s power can set you free.— Prophetess K You prophesied to me and said the check I was waiting for was coming. One day I was on your prayer call and you said someone

on here is having child support issues but God said if you would just worship Him, the money would come. I want to say that I just received a check in the mail. —Kentia I had a conversation with a woman of God the other day and it was very encouraging. She said she sowed her last ten dollars in her account to my ministry because God told her to after I prayed for her. Then the following week she got blessed with $300. This is why I always sow and give unto others because I know the power of seedtime and harvest and sowing and reaping. Don’t stop sowing into the kingdom of God because you will reap a harvest. Prophetess K. Good morning beautiful woman of God. I just wanted to say thank you for praying for me. Last month you prayed for me in ministry and my singing voice. I don’t know if you recall, but you left me a recorded message. Everything you prayed for is coming to pass. You told me to keep you posted on how my voice is doing. I’m sending you a clip from Sunday. Your prayers are working woman of God. I love you. Tonya.

WISDOM IS THE PRINCIPLE THING Kimberly Moses His word in our hearts and apply it to our lives because we have work to do. Dear Heavenly Father,

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE FOR MEDITATION: Psalm 90:12 says, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Life is truly short. One day we are here and the next day we are in eternity. It seems like the years fly by and we have memories of our childhood and pivot moments embedded in our hearts. Don’t waste your life and not apply yourself. What will your legacy be? What will people say about you when you leave this earth? Have you obeyed everything the Lord told you to do? Have you pursued that

dream of something major that you want to do in the back of your mind? We need to live life with a purpose. A purposeful life is an impactful life. People are impacted by you as you walk in purpose. God will give us wisdom to walk effectively in purpose. He will order our steps and guide us along the way so we know what to do in the small and big things in life. My biggest desire is that I fulfil my assignment and do everything the Lord placed on my heart to do before God calls me home. I live a purposeful life and you can too. God wants us to carry

I humble myself. I repent for the times I procrastinated and didn’t obey what you told me to do. Forgive me Lord. I realize that one day, we all will die. I want my life to be one of purpose. Lord, bless me to fulfil my assignment in this earth and make me aware of my purpose as never before. Lord, I don’t want to waste any more time but I decree that I will live a life of productivity. I come against stagnancy and slothfulness in Jesus’ name. Amen. NEW BOOK COMING WINTER 2018

DAY 73 - TRUST WALK By Keiyia JOYet George So what is false doctrine? False doctrine is any teaching that adds to, takes away from, is the opposite of, or denies the teachings of the Word given to men by God (yes, men wrote the Bible WITH complete guidance from God - 2 Timothy 3:16). The teaching that we cannot live sin free is just that. We can live sinfree, we just don’t!! There is a big difference.

DAY 73: DAY 73: I TRUST YOU, LORD. TURNING AWAY FROM SIN. HEBREWS 9-10 For Siyeeda Today, there are many who teach that we cannot live a sin free life. They teach a doctrine that says ‘We are only human, “No one is perfect,” “It is impossible to be sin free,” and “God understands…He’s still working on me.” Scripturally, this is false doctrine. Paul warned Timothy to be on guard of people who taught false doctrine. If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome

words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 1 Timothy 6:3-5 KJV In other words, leave anyone who teaches anything contrary to the Word because those people are prideful and it will only lead to a mess of things.

Hebrews 9 discusses briefly the history of the tabernacle and the role each area played as well as the purpose of the rituals priest went through to prepare and make the annually sacrifices for the remission (removal) of sins for the people. It continues to describe why this is no longer needed: a far more perfect method came through the death of Jesus Christ. Killing filthy animals (that required a ceremony to clean them) to serve a living God was now trumped by the blood of Christ, which was unblemished. This one act by Christ ensured that we would no longer have to deal in death just live. How awesome is that! Christ didn’t have to be cleansed by blood and enter an Earthly copy of Heaven. He entered Heaven Himself. He didn’t have to

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

do this over and over and over. He did it only once. He entered Heaven, stood in the presence of God to, once and for all, stamp out sin for ages to come. He sacrificed Himself to rid the need to always have to kill to live. People die only once. So did Christ, and He will return. Jump over to chapter 10. The law (the Mosaic law not the Law) was only there until Christ came. Under the law, people were doomed to repeat the rituals of annual cleaning because there was nothing in place to keep them cleansed for eternity. They continued to live their life and continued to sin. With each sacrifice, they were constantly reminded of their sins as the blood of animals could in no way ‘truly’ take away sins. While it was in accordance with the law, they were never really pleasing to God (death for life conundrum). Plus if the sacrifices could really remove sin, then there wouldn’t be a constant reminder of them. They were never really forgotten. Christ came, willingly, and said He’d do His Father’s will and will be sacrificed for us once and for all. With this act, our sins will never be remembered (Jeremiah 31:34). Because they are forgiven, a sacrifice will never need to be made again. For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery

indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:26-31 KJV And this is why we should strive to live sin-free. After you have learned that something is sin and you continue to do it, grace WILL NOT cover you. The grace period for that sin has expired and you WILL be judged accordingly. Why? Well think of this: if you had a child who made a sacrifice for people and the people continued doing what they did, almost trying to force you to sacrifice your child again, will you be happy about that? NO! You’ve already given your child. You won’t be willing to do it again and you shouldn’t. People should learn to act right. Under the Mosiac law, people were killed without mercy. The law was harsh! What more do we think will happen to us when judgment comes on us! If this is not enough to make you want to change, then what will!

Without knowing a single scripture about living sin-free, you can know this: Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. John 16:13 KJV The Spirit of Truth, Holy Spirit/ Ghost, will guide us! If you stay connected to Him, He will ensure we are sin free. It is possible to be sin free. It is absolutely possible. With the free will we were given, we have to choose to do what Spirit is guiding us to do. It’s that simple. God will not sacrifice His Son again. If we don’t take a real look in the mirror today and decide to live a holy life, judgment will fall on us harshly. As the scripture says above, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Get right today and stay right! Choosing to follow the Spirit, Keiyia JOYet George Trust Walk: Walking in His Steps coming soon!

REST IN GOD’S PEACEFUL OMNISCIENCE By Shirley Cooper

I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’ (Isaiah 46:10) WHAT EXACTLY IS OMNISCIENCE?

The definition is simple. In the dictionary it’s actually defined, “the state of knowing everything.” How cool is that? As we go deeper, we discover that omniscience is the capacity

to know everything that there is to know. In monotheistic religions, such as Sikhism and the Abrahamic religions, this is an attribute of God. At this tender, ripe age of 52, and I say that with humor, I remember when I was much younger

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

when the most fascinating thing happened to me. I realized that my daddy knew everything. He knew exactly what I didn’t want him to. One beautiful morning while the sun was coming out on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, my daddy invited my little brother and I to tag along with him to the body shop. I don’t recall ever turning down daddy daughter time in my younger days even if that meant that my little bro would have to come as well. I close my eyes today to look back at my brother and I walking around the cool cement driveway of what I remember to be the mechanic shops waiting area. We ran, and jumped around like monkey’s at a zoo until we discovered the most amazing little life ever: a tiny, little doggy. A puppy so small that we were able to hide it right under my shirt until she or he was safe and sound in the comfort of my daddy’s back seat. Sadly, all the hush and sneaky silence was all done for nothing, because my daddy already knew what we thought he didn’t. IN THE SAME WAY, GOD KNOWS ALL. Every hidden piece, every tainted journey, every deep pain, every darkened valley...God KNOWS it all! Everyday people fight against God’s better judgement to realize that they needed a tune-up from the beginning. While floating in our own decisions that eventually break us

down to shreds, we soon experience the consequences of those choices. In these times we begin to understand that in all things ...God is able. It’s not the struggling that causes us to fall, but rather the misconception that there’s no coming back. However, the truth still stands that in all our failures, there’s a Savior who waits to carry us to safety. All we need is to rest in His omniscience.

that trying to understand Him completely would be impossible. For this reason we need to pray for everything, because no one knows what we need more than God already does. God knows the end while we’re still trying to figure out the beginning. He knows how to bring the blessings out of our burdens! Rest...BECAUSE GOD ALREADY KNOWS!!

God’s thinking is so infinite

Every hidden piece, every tainted journey, every deep pain, every darkened valley...God KNOWS it all! Everyday people fight against God’s better judgement to realize that they needed a tune-up from the beginning.

BISHOP YEHOSHUA M BROWN Interviewed by Kimberly Moses Interviewer: Greetings Apostle, I am excited that you agreed to do this interview. How did you get started in ministry? How were you called? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: I have been preaching since I was five years old. According to my mother, I was reading out of the bible at five years old. She said I would pick up the bible and I would start preaching. I still have those pictures when I was five years old and the glory of God was on me. I went through a process that as a young child, demons would attack me in my sleep. I didn’t understand it. I was encountering spiritual warfare at a young age because of the oil and grace God placed on my life. I knew that I was special because I liked to be quiet and be to myself a lot of times. What ended up happening is that we moved to South Carolina in 1986. I was born in Boston, Massachusetts. I was about 12 years old. We went to a church with this white couple. My friend was a white guy and he took me to church. His family really embraced me. This is where I learned about Jesus. I got saved at this church. They took me to the altar and it just renewed

where I was at as a young kid. God never took his hands off me. Interviewer: How old were you when you got saved? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: I was about 12 years old when I got saved. At 12 I had full awareness of who Jesus was. At five years of age, I was preaching by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. When I was twelve years old, my mind was lining up to where my spirit was at. Then I started to get into gangs, Double OG and the Crips. I ran the streets and did drugs. One night in 2000, I was in a trap house. The Lord began to deal with me. He told me to repent. I said, “Wow! Jesus would come into this environment and tell me to repent.” Interviewer: Wow! Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: I didn’t get saved in no church. I got saved in a bad part of town. Interviewer: Wow! You were hearing God in a trap house. Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: Yes. I was hearing God in my mess.

I believe it’s just like a sinner man who goes into the club and something tells him to get out of there and then he finds up the next day, the club has been shot up. What was it? It was the spirit of God! Well, we all have the spirit of Life which is God. We all are moving by the spirit of God that gives us breath with every breath we take. I renewed my relationship with the Lord. I rededicated my life to Christ and got back into church. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Before that happened, I went through a lot of heavy spiritual detoxing. I went on a fast. Because my body was so hooked on drugs, when the Lord took it away from me cold turkey, I coded. Interviewer: Oh my God! You died? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: Yes, I literally died. I used to be in Rastafari and all we did was smoke weed. I used to do about an ounce a day so when I quit cold turkey, my body went into shock. When my body went into shock, I died several times. People don’t believe that weed can do you like that but it can. If your body is hooked on it and you stop just like that, then your

I didn’t get saved in no church. I got saved in a bad part of town. body goes into shock. I went into shock and I was going to the hospital like every night. MUSC, Charleston, Beaufort, and other places. I went to the hospital because the devil told me that I was going to die. Interviewer: WOW! So when you died, you had someone around you to resuscitate you? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: I would just black out and lose consciousness. My heart would stop beating. Nobody could tell me what was going on, so I went to the VA hospital because my father served in War World II. They told me that my body was going into shock because of the amount of marijuana that I used to do. I went through a process of fasting. At the time, I didn’t know any scriptures but I heard a voice saying that I needed to fast. I began to fast and go through self-deliverance. “The Masters Mentality Call” Every Monday-Friday point, I got saved and got back on fire for the Lord. I threw all my worldly CDs away. God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. There was a woman that I was going with at the time. She was moving to Atlanta, Georgia. I

didn’t want to go but my mother said, “I just feel like you should go.” I said, “Mom, I don’t want to go.” She said, “I’m telling you that you have to go.” I left with this woman. We were staying in Decatur, Georgia. She was trying to jump my bones at two o’ clock in the morning. I was on

the couch. I said, “Listen, I ain’t doing nothing with you.” She said, “Well you won’t be in my house if you ain’t doing nothing with me.” Then we got into an argument because I wouldn’t do anything with her. She put me out and I was homeless for some time in Atlanta, Georgia. I was going to church and when the Pastors found out that I was homeless they took me in. I was staying with a pastor who was a prophet. He and his family embraced me. That’s where I learned 5AM prayer. They gave me a Strong’s concordance. They gave me a book by Terry Nance, God’s Armor Bearer. They had me do twenty-one days of fasting, consecrating and learning the life of a prophet. During this time, the pastor told me that I would do gospel rap. When I was in the world, I had a deal with Virgin Records.

place of worship. God knew that I would never start listening to worship music so what He did was start me with the gospel rap. Then He got me into the praise. He is so wise. Then He got me into worship. He used the gospel rap as a catalyst to get me where I needed to be.

dence, they will still lock you up. You could be a man or woman, they will lock you up. They locked me up and I was looking at 40 years with no evidence. They wanted to hurry up and close the case.

In 2005, I signed with Eastern Records which was run by Rod Harris formerly of the group Commodores with Lionel Richie. Nobody in the church would help me. At that time, people were like, “gospel rap isn’t of God.” Because of that, I went to the world and asked for help. The bible says, “Make to yourselves friends of the mammon.” Hallelujah! He took someone that was out in the world to get His will done. I did my first album which came out in 2006. It is called Salvation on Beats.

I used to be a battle rapper. I was about to sign a contract but that’s when God saved me. The pastor said, “God told me that you will do gospel rap.” I said, “Pastor, God ain’t tell you that. The devil is a liar. You ain’t hear from God.” At that time, I hated rap. It was similar to the life I used to live. I was against any form of it. What I didn’t understand is that God was trying to teach me something. The gospel rap is an outer courts. Praise is inner courts. Worship is holy of holies. He was teaching me different levels to get me to get closer to him. He was using the gospel rap to bring me into praise and to bring me into a

Soon afterwards, I was ordained a pastor by Pastor Harvey of First Community Church in Bluffton, South Carolina. I became a pastor. I was pastoring for awhile and then I got back into the music. I started touring. When I was on tour, a situation arose. I meet someone that was not of God. She was smoking and doing all types of stuff. We were supposed to get married but I said hold up, this is not of God. Because I was breaking up with her, she set me up. She said, “You ain’t leaving me.” Then she retaliated. She said I did something to her which wasn’t true. With that kind of accusation, it doesn’t matter if they have evi-

Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: During this process, if you have that kind of reputation and you get locked up, you are a marked man. I was poisoned 15 times. When I would go through the lunch line, I was pointed out. They would say, “Okay. He’s number 30 in line.” They would poison my food. Spit in it. Put rat poison and chemicals in it. I was fasting so much that I lost weight. Then one day the Lord said, “Eat it!” I said, “Lord it’s poison!” He said, “Eat it and I will show them that you are going to live!” Since I am a big dude, I was feeling so weak from all the fasting. I was skin and bones.

Interviewer: Wow!

Interviewer: How did you know they were poisoning your food? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: The girl’s family was a CEO of the prison. They didn’t know that I didn’t do it. All they knew is what they heard. They put the thing out on me. I had to go to war with Bloods, Crips, and other gangs. Interviewer: So, you ate the food and God said that you will live. Bishop Yehoshua M Brown:

Yes, when I went to my cell, my stomach was burning. I sat on the toilet and it felt like all my organs inside were dropping into the toilet. I would lay down and ball up. I would say, “Lord, I am just ready to go. I am so tired of this.” I had a vision of heaven. I was taking up to the heavenly gates. I saw the seraphims. They

had four heads and they were talking to me. They look like the ones described in the book of Ezekiel. They said, “The Lord said you’re not ready yet.” Then they pushed me back down. In front of the gates are clouds. It looked like I was falling from the third heaven, second heaven, the first heaven, and back into my

bunk in my cell. Interviewer: Wow! So, you could feel your spirit going back into your body? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: I woke up and I was crying. When I was going through this, my father died.

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

Interviewer: Oh no! Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: Yeah, I used to take care of my father. He had dementia and Alzheimer’s. The Lord by His grace allowed my father’s spirit to come into my cell and hug me in a vision. He said, “Now I can leave.” This is one of the incidences where I saw the hand of the Lord go beyond what I knew in the scriptures. I thought that if my father was coming to me it must’ve been a demon. It was the Lord allowing my father to stop by as he was going up to heaven. When you are sleeping, your spirit is in the subconscious realm in the spirit. I was able to connect with my father there as he was on his way to heaven. Interviewer: Amen. Wow. How long did you serve? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: Five years and they tried to kill me every day. I went to court and I told my mom they were trying to kill me. She called the prison and said, “You better not kill my son because I will have so many lawyers up there to make your head spin.” They kept moving me from prison to prison. People kept calling up there asking where I was at. Their plan was to turn me into a homosexual. They planned on taking a broom stick and sticking it in places it shouldn’t be. God wouldn’t allow it to happen. They would constantly put Muslims in my cell to kill me. They would also put gang members and warlords in

my cell also. They would study me and learn about me. They would be yelling to someone else down the hall. “Yo man. You did that yet?” They would reply, “No. I haven’t done it yet?” They would tell my cell mate to hurry up and do that. They tried to kill me during recess and in the shower. I would shower by myself. God revealed to me that they planned to kill me in the shower so my blood could run down the drain and they could just wrap up my body and take me away. Interviewer: So God would always give you a heads up so you can get out of harm’s way. Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: Yes, He would always give me a heads up. These men would always try to set me up. They would say, “Yo. He’s crazy. He’s not washing. Take him to the medical unit,” because they wanted me to get in the shower. I would wait like 2 two days before I would shower. They would come get me and strip off my clothes. They would give me medicine. I would have to pray over the medicine as they were forcing it in me. I would pray and bind it up in the name of Jesus to be able to withstand it. I would see the hand of God just moving. During these times, I would have visitations of the end times where God would show me where bibles were going to be taken up. There would be wars and black markets. He gave me an insight into the end times.

This is when God gave me the name of the ministry He wanted me to start up which is “New Testament Temple.” He told me how he wanted to move. He gave me strategies and told me that He was going to use me to do ministry. He told me that He was going to be glorified in me and through my life. They kept moving my release date because they were trying to get me murdered before I got was released. My sister kept calling up there because it was fishy. She came up to the prison and started raising Cain. Then I had a whole bunch of officers escorting me out of prison. I’ve been out since 2012. Then I became a part of a church. I sat there for a year in the church called, “New Covenant.” This is when God started to deal with me about submitting myself to a prophet. Interviewer: So, the prison thing was like a wilderness season for you. Did you get compensated in any way?

I would just black out and lose consciousness. My heart would stop beating.

41

42

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: Nah. I never got compensated. They treated me like a guilty man. They doped me up on medication during my trial. They told me to take the deal they were giving me or do 40 years. I pleaded underneath the alpha docket. I didn’t understand the law at that time because there was no evidence. Someone told me that I should see the girl that set me up; that I should see what she is going through because she doesn’t didn’t look so good. Interviewer: She reaped what she sown. Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: Yeah. So, I got out and started my own ministry after I left the church. I was doing a radio show called , “The Mantle Of God.” It was an empowerment program. There were all kinds of preachers on there who were talking about their mantle and assignment. In 2015, I received a mantle of

They locked me up and I was looking at 40 years with no evidence. They wanted to hurry up and close the case.

my previous leader. That’s why I walk in the supernatural. The oil starts from the head, flows down to the beard and then the skirt. What a lot of people mess up with is that they feel like they got to get underneath your leader. They really need to get under you so they can get the next generation of the double portion. The oil rests in the skirt. It’s just like John Eckhardt and Matthew Stevenson. Matthew Stevenson is not greater than John Eckhardt but he moves in a greater grace. That grace is John Eckhardt. He is reproducing John Eckhardt times two in the earth realm. It’s double the move. Elisha did more miracles than Elijah. He wasn’t greater than Elijah but it was that he was moving in a greater grace. In 2016, I was ordained an Apostle. It had already been on my life but I just accepted it and said, “It is what it is.” From that my apostolic assignment started to come full circle. I started working with different men of God in their network. I was the first presiding apostle in Flames of Glory. I started to feel like I was more the leader. I didn’t want to feel like that because I was subjected underneath a man of God, so I left. My apostle, who is in Texas, is like my Samuel. He is my father who I can always call on. In February all the Bishops came together and consecrated me as a Bishop with apostolic succession that goes back unnto the church of England. You have a lot of people calling themselves bishop of their domination but

they aren’t a historic bishop. That’s different. When I go to England I will be treated like royalty because of my succession is legal and it goes back to the 12 apostles. I cover and train leaders in Texas, Florida, South Carolina and Georgia. These are people that I trained with my hands. It’s easy to cover people who has already got the work started. Show me some people that you trained and work that you launched out. That’s different. Anyone can go and cover someone. You can just give them your opinion and a phone call but when you grown that thing and work that thing on your own, that shows who you are as leader. It shows your longevity and authenticity of training. I am big on training. My whole thing is not about prophets who can prophesy but prophets that can become leaders. Along my journey, I made so many mistakes. It gave me a lot of wisdom but can you learn from your mistakes? Recently, I’ve been doing Get Your Wife Life from things I encountered in a bad marriage. I am not ministering from a wounded place but from a revelated place. Interviewer: Yes. Amen. Good. You do a lot of Get Your Wife Life. I see a lot of flyers. Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: I tell people where I went wrong at in marriage. I think a lot of men of God have done this. They put expectancy on someone who isn’t capable of carrying it. They

to be a wife. Now, God gave me wisdom and I am able to help others out. My second marriage is one of purpose and totally different from my first marriage. Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: When in a marriage, you have to know that when in a marriage if that is your training partner. They’re not your partner but your training partner. They are designed to get you ready for the right one. We got to many people that fall in love with their training partner. Interviewer: My God! try to make her the prophetess, pastor, overseer or the apostle, but she just wants to be your wife. I should’ve just sat down and quit ministry for a year if I truly loved the church, but back

then I didn’t know how to be a husband. Interviewer: That reminds me of me. My first marriage was in 2005 and I didn’t know how

Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: That marriage or relationship is designed to teach you what you need to know so you can grow. The knowing activates the growing. The know activates the grow.

Get Your Wife Life is about marrying for purpose. Many people think it’s a throw off on women or that I am ministering from a wounded place. But when you come to the event, it’s nothing like that. It’s about keys. Interviewer: Can you explain more about spiritual detox? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: That means you have to detox your soul. It’s like a soul fast. That’s why we take sabbaticals. It releases heaviness of the soul. The bible says out of the heart comes the issue of life. The issue is you. It is you. It persecutes you. You need somebody who has the type of love that can heal you. The book of Jeremiah talks about the Balm of Gilead. I need the type of love that is a healing agent. There will always be a scar that says I got hurt right here. You need the type of people that are able to mend those wounds. God will send you someone that will mend the wound. When dealing with spiritual detox, you have to have someone that has a PH.D in the area that you are struggling with. If not then you might get with someone who is like “Why are you in the bed balled up crying?”. Sometimes as prophets and apostles we are balled up in bed crying. It may have nothing to do with your partner, but prophetically you traveled back in time and now you are dealing with some stuff. They walk into the bedroom and be like, “What’s wrong with you?” If they

don’t understand your process, pain, or assignment than their love can become a confinement instead of a healing for your assignment. I don’t need someone in my life to be an answer, but I need someone in my life to be a solution. If I give you an answer, it could be right or it could be wrong, but if it’s the solution, it meets the head of the problem or the direct need of the problem. When you do the whole Get Your Wife Life, it’s your whole help mate life. A woman is designed to be a fence. When God talks about the cherubim guarding the tree of life, the woman is supposed to guard the way of the tree of her man. She is supposed to guard the anointing. The cherubim have a sword that cuts different way. With a soul detox, we are dealing with a cutting and a healing. We are dealing with a healing agent and cutting out of the mess. I got to get the mess out in order to walk in a message. Too many people’s mess don’t become a message. If I don’t become transparent then I am just giving you a massage. I don’t want to give you a massage, but I want to give you the message. Get Your Wife Life birthed something called The Band of The Husband. The band is a circle, the wedding band. My wife is a covering. The bible says that Sarah was a covering to Abraham. The wife covers the husband in prayer. The husband wears the band because she will

I woke up and I was crying. When I was going through this, my father died. never have him going in circles. The ring symbolizes that you complete me. It symbolizes that you help me guard my anointing. The ring symbolizes a seal. When it comes to the apostolic, the spiritual children are a seal of the apostleship but in marriage your partner is your seal. If a woman knows her role and a man knows his role, then marriages would be better. Two visions are a division. A woman must study the functions of the church and man must study Christ. The bible says when a man finds a good thing. That means she has already dealt with her issues before she got a husband. She becomes good because she passed the inspection of the Holy Ghost. She is good because God has pronounced her healed of all her past situations. That’s why Mary Magdalene was able to follow Jesus because He cast seven demons out of her. Each demon that came out of her represents a different man, a different struggle, and a different hurt. When Jesus casts those demons

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

out of her, she finally met a man that was anointed enough to get to the heart of my issues. The man that didn’t just talk about my issues or patty cake my issues. He got to the root of my matter and was able to draw it out. He was ready to address it and heal me. Also, the woman with the alabaster box represents my issues, my tears, and my process. It became a sweet perfume. My issues or my mess after being poured out gives off a fragrance. The next level, she poured it over Jesus. A man who finds a wife finds a good thing is located by the fragrance that she carries in prayer, worship and intercession. Worship gives off a fragrance. When she worships, he locates her by the anointing and intimacy with Christ. Interviewer: How did the book “Eagle Language” come into fruition? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: When you don’t

understand my speech then you don’t understand my language. David said, “If I had wings like a dove, then I’d fly away and be at rest.” There’s a difference between the language of a dove and an eagle. There are too many prophets who are doves and not eagles. An eagle carries a different language and a different sound. When we deal with the technology of an eagle, we with deal with prophetic wisdom.

If you don’t have the prophetic grace to impart, I don’t care what kind of grace you have on your life, if you aren’t a prophet, then you can license them but you aren’t going to water them or activate them. You won’t even stir because you don’t have the grace to stir. You can be a pastor, bishop, apostle but if you don’t have the major prophet’s anointing, then they can’t impart. If you have the office or mantle

45

46

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

then you can impart. If you have the gift ,then you are reaching beyond your grace. Interviewer: Why do prophets go in cave? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: They go into caves because they haven’t mastered their emotions. Interviewer: How was the transition from the prophetic to the apostolic? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: The transition from the prophetic to the apostolic, well, the problem is there are people who just got saved yesterday and jump into the apostolic. There are different levels and different realms. The prophetic starts off as a seed that has to be watered. Once you get to that level in the prophetic then you can transition into the apostolic. In Acts 13, it says

there were prophets and teachers at the church in Antioch. Barnabas was there who was a prophet was there, but in chapter 14, he is now an apostle. He got ordained in chapter 13 and now walkeding as an apostle in chapter 14. He goes from being a prophet to

an apostle. For instance, sometimes people may call me apostle prophet. That’s not to make it seem like I am some great sign and wonder, but it’s to signify that I am an apostle that went through some great ranking as a prophet. When you see someone

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

calling someone apostle prophet, that doesn’t mean their head is swollen and they are trying to be everything, but it says they completed the rankings of the prophetic before they shifted to the apostolic. I think it’s very key for people to know. Shifting to the apostolic means that my influence went to another level as a trainer and as a father. Interviewer: I know you are passionate about training. How important is equipping other prophets? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: The problem is when people are flipping through their cell phones, they have 15 immature prophets, but if you have one prophet that operates in the realm of glory then that’s all you need. The problem is that we have like 15 to 20 immature prophets in our cell phones and we get a halfbaked word from all of them.

In 2016, I was ordained an Apostle. It had already been on my life but I just accepted it and said, “It is what it is.”

I train my prophets this way. Elisha had Elijah. Joshua had Moses. Peter had Jesus. Timothy had Paul. When you have all these prophets trying to birth you, now you have somebody else’s arm, head, leg, etc.. - then you have a Frankenstein mantle. You are a UFO in the spirit. You are an unidentified flying object. You aren’t identified because you don’t have a lineage. You need a prophetic DNA. That’s what Samuel, Elijah, and Elisha are all about, the school of the prophets. It’s about lineage. It’s about falling after the order of the school of the prophets. A lot of apostles talk about your DNA or lineage in the apostolic, but where are the prophets who have a lineage in the prophetic. Who sent you? Who inaugurated you? It’s not about where you are from, it’s about where you are at. My next level is not based on where I came from, it’s based on where I am at. That’s why the only great is your ceiling. I’ve been hurt by leaders. I had leaders do me wrong. You can either let the pressure break you or let it make diamonds. School of the Prophets S.E.E. stands for Samuel, Elijah, and Elisha. It’s a prophetic transfer. God showed me when He dealt with Samuel, Elijah, and Elisha in that order in the school of the prophets, that He was teaching prophets to see. S.E.E. not only stands for Samuel, Elijah, and Elisha, but those were three major prophets that stand for 3 three different realms.

There were prophets that had the eyes of an eagle, the nose of a bear, and the ears of an owl. Those three make up the mature prophet. The mature prophet operates in those three lanes. The eyes of an eagle is the seer anointing. Samuel could see before he could hear. He could have visions but he couldn’t didn’t understand the voice of the Lord if it came to slap him down. It did slap him in the face and he still didn’t know what it was, so, he went to his leader to confirm what he was hearing. The voice of God will always be connected to whoever is fathering you in that season. Elijah had the nose of a bear. A bear can smell miles away. Bear represents keen discernment. Elijah had a sharp discernment. Smelling 18 miles away of like a bear smelling is like the discernment of Elijah. When we deal with Elisha, we deal with the ears of an owl. We are dealing with being able to travel when darkness is all around. Interviewer: When is your training and how can people sign up? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: My administrator sends an email. We have two packages:, the beginner and the intense training. The difference is 6 versus vs. 12 classes a month. Sometimes I text revelation because I might be on the road. We are an accredited school under Rhema Bible college. Interviewer: What is God saying

47

48

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

to the body of Christ? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: God

says something different than He says to the church compared to a local body compared to the

United States compared to Israel compared than to the world. A lot of people get it mixed up. For example, they might say, “God is saying He is exposing folks.” I am like no, where do you go to church at. That word is for your church. Whenever there was exposure there was closure. We have these doom and gloom prophets because all that’s in their heart is doom and gloom. What God is saying to the body of Christ now is that He wants His leaders to prepare for the end times. A lot of leaders don’t have end time preparation for their ministry. They cover people but they don’t have any direction when tragedy or disaster comes. God wants to bring us to a place of

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

I don’t need someone in my life to be an answer, but I need someone in my life to be a solution. maturity as leaders. He wants the prophets to stop operating from their gift but start operating from their office. To many prophets know they are prophets but they stop at prophetic education. They say they don’t need to trained in this hour because that’s old testament. Well in this hour, prophets are subjected to the church. Jesus Christ set some in the church, first apostles then prophets. That’s not talking about ranking but time. Apostles are first in the church. Prophets used to be first in Israel so now in the church apostles are first. If you don’t have a church, there is no need for apostles. People like to say that Moses was a picture of the apostolic but you need a church to have the apostolic. We can use the church in the wilderness to say he is a picture of the apostolic. We need more leaders who will walk in the spirit of Moses and Elijah. We got so many people saying, “I got the spirit of Elijah.” Well what

about the spirit of Moses? We need people to do a prophetic and apostolic movement. God is saying to operate from the high place; operate from the secret place; operate out of relationship; not just from your church or ministry but operate from your prayer closet because your private encounters will turn into public power. God wants to turn our private encounters to public manifestations of His glory. Interviewer: Amen. What was the biggest obstacle in ministry that you faced and how did you overcome it? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: Blackball. People will hate you and not even know you. There are key holders in the upper parts of ministry. If they say they don’t like you, they can make one phone call and hinder where you need to be. They will try to close doors. They can’t stop it. What God ordained, He will sustain. I overcoame being blackballed. The mistakes that I made such whereas trusting the wrong people and loving the wrong people. People who were prosing as sons and daughters were actually cousins. Another one was being misunderstood. When you make mistakes in the body of Christ, they will talk that love stuff but turn around and won’t accept your friend request. Jesus Christ didn’t stand for persecuting one another but loving one another. The hardest thing is dealing with one another when it comes to

relationships. Then raising up sons and daughters because not everyone wants to stay committed. Facebook has made it so hard because the first time they get rebuked they can just go online and get somebody else. Then we have leaders that ordain people to fast. If you tell them to sit, they will leave. The main ones out there hurting people are the ones that are untrained and under developed people. They haven’t even finished reading the bible and they say, “I can do what I want to do.” Interviewer: That’s true. Are there any upcoming events that you have? Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: Get Your Wife Life, Prophetic Conferences, working on music, Band of the Husbands, and working on some other projects. Interviewer: Thank you so much for your time. Bishop Yehoshua M Brown: Your welcome. Have a blessed day. To find out more about Bishop Yehoshua Brown go to his Facebook page at Ym Shofar Brown

HAPPINESS By Reynaldo Rodriguez

Happiness, the key concept, is wanting what you have. The world’s concept of happiness is having what we want. Madison Ave tells us we need a flashier car, a sexier cologne, or any numbered of items that are better, faster or easier to use than what we already have. We watch the commercials, read the ads, and we become antsy to acquire all the latest fashions, fads and fancy doodads. We are not really happy until we get what we want. God’s concept of happi-

ness is summoned up in the simple proverb: “Happy is the man who wants what he has.” As long as you are focusing on what you don’t have, you will be unhappy. When you begin to appreciate what you already have, however, you will be happy all your life. Paul wrote to Timothy, “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.” (1

Timothy 6: 6 – 8). Actually, you already have everything you need to make you happy for ever. You have Christ. You have eternal life. You are loved by a heavenly Father who has promised to supply all your needs. No wonder the Bible repeatedly commands us to be thankful: “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5: 18). If you really want to be happy, learn to be

REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2018

content with life and thankful for what you already have in Christ. Fun is uninhibited spontaneity. Have you ever planned a major fun event? Chances are, the last time you really had fun was spontaneous, after you threw off your inhibitions. Wordly people know they need to get rid of their inhibitions, to have fun. That is one reason they get drunken when they drink. The secret to enjoying uninhibited spontaneity as a Christian is to remove unscriptural inhibitors. Chief among the inhibitors of Christian fun is our fleshly tendency to keep up appearances. We don’t want to look outside of place or be thought less of by others. We stifle our spontaneity with a form of false decorum. That is people pleasing, and Paul suggested that anybody who lives to please people isn’t serving Christ: “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1: 10). The joyless cry, “What will people say?” The liberated in Christ respond, “Who cares what people say? I care what God says. I stopped playing for the grandstand a long time ago when I started playing for the coach.” I love the uninhibited joy of King David. He was so happy about returning the Ark to Jerusalem that he led and danced before the Lord in celebration. Yes, that

was a Cool and the Gang moment David had: celebration. He knew there was joy in the presence of God. Michal, his party—pooping wife, however, thought his behavior was unbecoming to a king, and she told him so in no uncertain terms. “David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the Lord.” (2 Samuel 6: 21). As it turned out, Michal was the person God judged in the incident, not David, “And Michal daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.” (verse 23). It is a lot of more fun pleasing the Lord than trying to please people. Insecurity means depending upon temporal things that we have no right or ability to control. Do you realize that God is shaking the foundations of this world? Insecurity is a global problem. Some tough days are ahead for this fallen world. It doesn’t take a genius to determine that. An exploding population and decreasing natural resources indicate we are fast heading on a collision course. Our security can be found only in the eternal life of Christ. Jesus said: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater

than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” (John 10: 27 – 29). Paul declared that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8: 35 – 39).” He said that we are sealed in Him by the Holy Spirit: “ And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” (Ephesians 1: 13 – 14). How much more secure can you get than that?

PEACE By Reynaldo Rodriguez

Everything we now have we shall lose some day. Jim Elliot (a missionary who was killed along with four other men by the Auca Indians in Ecuador, South America, in 1956) said, “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” Paul said, “But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ” (Philippians 3: 7 – 8). Peace on earth, good will toward

men; that it what everybody wants. That is a great desire but a wrong goal. Nobody can guarantee external peace because nobody can control people or circumstances. Nations sign and break peace treaties with frightening regularity. One group of peace marchers confronts another group of peace marchers and they end up beating each over the head with their placards. Couples lament that there would be peace in their home “if only he/she would shape up.” The peace of God is internal, not external. Peace with God is something you already have: “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have

peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,” (Romans 5: 1). God is a personal God, and since He is personal, imagine the Almighty sending you a text message to your cell phone: I’m going to call you this afternoon at 5PM, I crave to talk to you and have communion with you. Imagine yourself at 5PM exactly (God is always on time) calling you and saying to you “Friend therefore, since you have been justified through faith, you have peace with Me through my Son your Lord Jesus Christ.” Can you imagine God telling you this? He actually did, He told you already through the telephone of Romans 5: 1. The Good News of the Gospel is always and eternally

will be good! In fact that is what the gospel means: good news. In a world filled with uncertainty, the Gospel remains good news for ever more! The peace of God is something you need to appropriate daily in your inner world in the midst of the storms that rage in the external world, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14: 27). A lot of things can disrupt your external world because you can’t control all your circumstances and relationships. You can control the inner world of your thoughts and emotions, however, by daily allowing the peace of God to rule in your heart. Chaos may be occurring all around you, but God is bigger than any storm. Nothing will happen to me today that God and I cannot resolve.” Personal worship, prayer and interaction with God’s Word enable us to experience the peace of God: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4: 6 – 7) “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and

admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” (Colossians 3: 15 – 16). Walking by faith is simply choosing to believe what God says is true and to live accordingly by the power of the Holy Spirit. Faith in God is the Christian way to live and humanistic philosophical reasoning is the human way, but they are often in conflict. Having faith in God is not unreasonable, and I am not suggesting you ignore your responsibility to think. On the contrary, we are required by God to think and make conscious choices. God is a rational God, and He does work through our ability to reason. The problem is that our ability to reason is limited and prone to rationalization. The Lord said: ““As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55: 9). We are incapable of determining God’s thoughts through human reasoning; therefore, we are dependent on divine revelation. The humanist would say, “I don’t see it God’s way” or “I don’t believe in God’s way, so I will do it my way.” Solomon urged us to live God’s way when he wrote, “Do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him” (Proverbs 3: 5 – 6). Your strength will be determined

by your personal conviction that God’s way is always right and by how committed you are to believe Him. Your spiritual weakness is borne from within and is determined by the amount of time and energy you invest in entertaining thoughts that are contrary to God’s Word. These spiritual obstacles are saturated with defense mechanisms and strongholds raised against the knowledge of God. The more time and energy you invest in contemplating your own plans on how to live your own life, the less likely you are to seek God’s plan. You begin flip flopping back and forth between acknowledging God’s plan and leaning on your own understanding. James called this kind of person double minded, “Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.” (James 1: 8). When you continue to vacillate between God’s plan and your plan, your spiritual growth will be stunted, your maturity in Christ will be blocked, and your daily experience as a Christian will be marked by disillusionment, discouragement and defeat and why would you remain like this if God already made provision for us all through grace: “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Romans 8: 37)
