No Regrets

It's Monday morning. And time for the next-greatest affirmation of my life: I have no regrets. I worked hard, smart and made many sacrifices to get where I am today; a point when I do not have to work as hard, and where I can fine-tune my legacy. As much as possible, I stay in touch with my friends and family. These are people who (through thick and thin) have stood by me, supported me, encouraged me, inspired me, as well as they have spoken highly about me. I thank you all for keeping me in your memory, your hearts, your minds, and your positive/productive conversations. I am the happiest that I've ever been in my life right now; with a big old gigantic 142dollar smile across my face and in my heart! From out of nowhere I have earned legions of fans and new friends from around the world,

people would have taken the time to read deeply into my thoughtprovoking books, characters, commentaries, films and blogs. I sometimes look back to some of the things I have created over the past decade and I see clearly my courage & freedom to express myself instead of corresponding to what others might expect or want from me. Thank you for your acceptance of that position and state of being. I am truly living life far beyond m y

wildest dreams! I give back as much as possible to the community where I live.

I constantly share resources and information with the masses of people who I touch, whether online or in person. For that and other reasons, I am satisfied with my accomplishments, my presence and my future. Live life to the absolute fullest, for you know not when your ticket comes up. (RIP Jim Kelly)

Progressing or Posturing? i have a question for you today: Are you progressing or are you posturing

I always got a kick out of watching interviews on talk shows like Arsenio Hall and Jay Leno and Oprah and Ellen.

One celebrity after the next will take that couch and they will talk their spiel. Meanwhile, the more nervous they are will show in the gestures and the movements that they unconsciously make.

And now that I have forewarned you, watch your body positioning from this point on.

Are you positioned to win or are you just posturing? How many times have you noticed in an interview

where the celebrity turns his watch so that the audience and the viewer can get a good look? Their self talk might be: "Maybe they will be more impressed/more influenced if they get a good look at this shine of mine!" On the other hand, I'm thinking: That jewelry is gonna be the death of you! You can't stop playing with it! You're either showing off, or insecure or its your anchor...or maybe its so new to you it don't feel comfy on your wrist? Otherwise, wth do you need to adjust it every few seconds? I know another singer (won't name her name) but she wore the certain clothing and the tall boots to hide her weight issue and her thick legs, but all during her performance she's adjusting her clothes, pulling up the boots... adjusting the waistline. I can understand the boobies tryin to get loose if your dancing all over the place, but you are too heavy to dance and you barely moved on the stage??? #insecure In my humble opinion, whenever a celebrity does that it shows me his/her insecurities. Most times and I would say 99 out of 100 times it will be a man making such a gesture because women don't generally have gaudy watches or expensive Jesus pieces around their neck. Women on the other hand will be focused on pulling up their trousers/ skirt/blouse or adjusting their cleavage.

And all the while I'm watching and saying "did you just run a marathon that you need to be adjusting this and that

and the third every two seconds?" And it's not just the celebrities on the couch, or on stage; it is also you standing in line at Starbucks! You could be standing on any line and your hands will go to adjusting your clothes! And my thing is, didn't you just adjust your clothes two seconds ago and two seconds before that and a minute before that? Folks we need to stop posturing. Not to say that we shouldn't be aware of our clothing, and that we shouldn't show our best in public, however it has gone much too far when I'm standing behind you at Starbucks and all you find time to do is fidget with your clothes. If not that, you start toying with your phone, checking for emails/texts, VMs... but AGAIN you get ZILCH! Chances are, you're SO insecure you might be frightening people away! Think about it! Nine times out of 10 you're posturing!

And here's something else that I so desperately want to talk about: family, when you are in a discussion with another person, would you PLEASE stop importing your two cents relating to how YOU are coping or how YOU’RE doing or how YOU are living or how YOU would

...act in that same situation! When you are having a discussion with someone your focus should be on listening!

And I have to admit that I am sharing this information with you as much as I'm sharing it with myself. #affirmation. I just tend to be more conscious of these habits. Call it idiosyncrasy.

But I recognize This habit when you're in a discussion with someone and they are talking about their issues and you continuously intervene and import your OWN opinion and your OWN point of view!

SHUT UP!

That person needs you to hear THEM, they are not trying to hear YOUR part of THEIR story! It happens time after time after time and it never ceases to amaze me how many of us don't pay attention to the conversations we are having, instead we spit our own angle into the discussion every time, (my contribution to your story) and it never fails!

This isn't a debate. It's not MY story. So then why am I adding MY two cents in YOUR story?

Again I say shut up!

Have you heard the poem that was told to me years ago and that many other people know and claim and repeat?

"There

was a wise old owl who sat on an old, the more he heard the less he spoke. The less he spoke, the more he heard we should all be like that wise old bird!"

That is a poem I remember for some 30 years now. When you show concern and you pay attention to what the other person is saying you are sincerely listening. However, when you are not paying attention and when you are constantly trying to find a way to put YOUR information in the conversation, then you're not listening. You're instead, posturing. You are pretending to care, pretending to give a damn. And you already know what I'm about to say: Stop it!

Shut up! Pay attention to your gestures and your mannerisms on one hand, and listen (don't pretend that you are) on the other.

Here's the other thing: COMING if you're not pretending and you're not posturing, Then what are you doing? Well the truth is you are focused and concerned and determined, and all of those attributes add up to one of the greatest characteristics a person can have: its called "substance." I need to talk to and to listen to and to share information w i t h people who are substantial and credible and focused and determined. #substance But that's just me. You may not be looking for those types to be a part of your life. Maybe you're just not there yet.

But I promise that this is the most mature place to be when you are surrounding yourself with substance.

Substantial people, substantial activities; all in accordance with your substantial life's purpose.

Call to action/More about posturing: If you're on a job interview I would imagine you're going to be sitting up in your seat not slouching. You are sitting up because you are serious about this interaction. In fact you EXPECT the best out of the situation whether it's a job you're interviewing for, or if you're facing a new love. It can be a new business relationship or if you are sitting in class, as a student, you can be serious about the lesson.

You must sit like you are eager and determined to win, to learn, to grow, to adventure, to love... no matter what the situation is. You must be smiling inside. When you smile inside it will create a smile on the outside but even if you pretend to smile on the outside, you can't help feeling good on the inside! Try it and comment back; let me know that what I'm saying is right! Try to put a smile on your face. And if you don't feel like smiling try to falsify a smile on your face; straighten those shoulders, sit upright and be determined to win and you tell me if that doesn't change your attitude about a situation. On the other hand be more attentive listening more, pay attention and let the other person speak. I want to hear from you how that is changed your conversation.

Remember a lot of us talk because we want to be heard. But if were both talking, then who in the world is doing the listening!??? In the end I try to stay away from the posturing, the faking... I need the people who I deal with on a day-to-day basis (whether it's online on the phone or in person) to be credible, substantial, significant! Because like you, I am so tired of frauds! And I hate to tell you, but something about you is fraudulent if you are posturing! #Relentless
