Art in the Park When: Summer Cost: Free Where: Stephens Lake Park What it is: Art in the Park has been a Columbia favorite since 1959. Last year’s festival featured the work of 111 artists along with more than 10 food vendors. Roots N Blues Festival When: Fall Cost: $70–$628 Where: Stephens Lake Park What it is: Columbia’s most popular music festival, Roots N Blues packs in the sounds of 30 national, regional and local musicians who perform all genres of American roots music. This family friendly event also features great food and interactive art.

True/False Film Fest When: Spring Cost: $12–$16, student discount available Where: Downtown What it is: This film festival celebrates creative nonfiction film and its creators. With eight venues sprinkled throughout downtown, True/False brings hard-hitting and award-winning documentaries to tens of thousands of attendees every year.

Unbound Book Festival When: Spring Cost: Free Where: Stephens College What it is: Bestselling authors discuss their work and lives, and they participate in a variety of events with festival-goers. With separate programs for fiction, nonfiction, poetry and children, Unbound has something for every book-lover.
