Melbourne is the creative capital of Australia and never is this more prominently on show than in Melbourne Spring Fashion Week. This year the fashion and style scene is set to explode with a huge program and a fabulous line up of the best designers and stylists showcased across multiple venues throughout the CBD. It is the premier fashion event of the season and always creates a buzz in Australia and overseas. Just in time for the spring racing carnival and summer beyond that, you can get your fix of the latest Spring/Summer fashion, glamorously worn by stunning models as they strut down the runways. A formidable line up of leading Australian and International designers will showcase their captivating collections at the Opening Night on Friday 1 September. There will be many runway shows running throughout the week but also an impressive lineup of other activities from workshops with industry professionals, live music, talks about ethical fashion, emerging designers and industry growth
strategies. It will be a fascinating look into the world of the fashion business. Melbourne is home to many leading fashion industry figures, and the creative energy that abounds here produces new talent every year. The newest and best will be on show in the Kinship – Rags to Runway which will feature innovative upcycled garments, designed by Kangan Institute’s fashion students and made from fabric and unsalable clothing provided by Red Cross Shops. The will also be the annual Student Runways, often a springboard for new ideas and designs into the mainstream market and an introduction for students into the fashion industry. The week is jam-packed with fashion inspired events, so get ready for Melbourne to really show its stylish side!
