OUR STORY To provide an income whilst studying Law at University of Sydney, Paul Younan took over what was then a small family business called Cheap Heap. This worked well while Paul completed his Law degree and moved into the legal world. From day one though there was something missing. Whether it was being couped up in an office all day, the nature of client contact in the legal world, or the overall formality, Paul quickly realised law wasn’t where he wanted to be. Taking a leap of faith, Paul resigned from his position as a lawyer in 2008 and, along with business partner George Taouk, launched The Rubbish Taxi. The pair saw a real opportunity to provide a rubbish removal and waste management service with a difference. “CHANGING THE WORLD ONE LOAD AT A TIME” became the businesses mantra, and something that has been the underlying driver in all Rubbish Taxi businesses activities. Paul, George and the team at The Rubbish Taxi are focused on reducing the amount of rubbish and waste that goes to landfill and tipping stations. Paul explains “we undertake a thorough sorting process at the facility to ensure we meet our own environmentally conscious standards. We actively seek out collectors, artists, re-furbishers and businesses that can use any of the items we collect. As they say, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure”. Since that day Paul has built a company recognised for their environmentally conscious approach to waste management, their support of the local community, always aspiring to live the Company Values; Customer Focused, Delivery Focused, Professionalism, Clear Thinking and Socially Responsible.

What We Do and Areas We Service The Rubbish Taxi offers a wide range of services related to rubbish removal. We run a fleet of tipper trucks which can access most areas a car can, and we also provide the drivers and labour. Our core services are SO WHAT EXACTLY DO WE PROVIDE? • • • • •
Removal of household, renovation, garden, business, commercial, and industrial waste Removal of e-waste (ie. Fridges, computers, washing machines etc.) Deceased estates Complete yard clean-ups: Tree lopping, stump removal, landscaping, lawn mowing Site bins for weekly/ fortnightly collection (240l)

Whilst these areas make up the core of our business, we do cover all of Sydney when possible and welcome enquiries from outside these areas.

The WhatRubbish? Fund has been established as a means for The Rubbish Taxi to provide support to community, sporting and charitable initiatives. In the past we have supported Giant Steps, Sydney University Australian National Football Club, AIME, Corporate Fighter (Livin and The Enemy Within).

HOW WILL WE DO THIS? From every invoice The Rubbish Taxi issues, $5 is donated to the WhatRubbish? Fund. Twice yearly the funds are donated to the organisations we are partnering with for the period. As of June 2016, The Rubbish Taxi and parent company Infinitus Group had donated in excess of $15,000 to charitable and community organisations. This is in addition to the Company’s support of various corporate events.

This is achieved by ensuring environmental responsibility is top of mind across all aspects of the business. Every single rubbish load arriving at The Rubbish Taxi depot is unloaded, checked, sorted, and separated. Any items found to be saleable, re-usable, or donatable, are redistributed. The Rubbish Taxi takes the time to check what is ‘rubbish’ in every single load. Thereby reducing waste and damage to the environment.
