Experience a long weekend in Mackay…

Whether you fly in, drive in or catch a coach, you can easily fill a long weekend with plenty to do around the Mackay region.

Day 1 Start the day right by the river. Grab a coffee and head over to Artspace Mackay to meander the many interesting artists on show in the gallery. Take a bike ride around the blue water trail linking some of the city’s key attractions. After the 20km ride, afternoon drinks at The Dispensary are a must, followed by dinner at The Church of Palmer.

Day 2 Jump in the car and head west to one of Queensland’s most ecologically diverse parks, Eungella National Park, for a walk through the rainforest. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at Broken River, or head to The Pinnacle Pub nearby to enjoy one of their famous pies.

Day 3 Charter a boat to enjoy the glorious marine life on the Great Barrier Reef.

Day 4 Head north to the striking Cape Hillsborough National Park, where the rainforest meets the ocean. Spend the day exploring the hiking trails, take the boat out, throw in a line or simply relax. Make sure you are there for sunrise or sunset to enjoy the beach with the wallabies.
