Drug addiction is as much an internal struggle as it is physical. Considering the effects of different types of substances, it’s easy to understand why it wreaks havoc in someone’s deep-seated functions. As such, an internal breakdown is bound to manifest in tangible form. This, by far, is what destroys substance users and severs their connection to the world. Unorthodox as it is, they could find relief and recovery in Gospel therapy. It’s not an exact science, but it does help when a user believe there’s a higher power that forgives them for their actions. On top of that, it actually heals the problem from the inside.
The Nature of Religion Much of what religious people do revolve around contemplation in relation to their beliefs. This means that positive values such as love, forgiveness and self-control imbues from the inside. It doesn’t counter the compulsive need for drugs completely, but rather, replaces it. A cog of religion is finding internal peace. People who don’t have debilitating issues search for it, so what more for substance users. In their troubled minds, the serenity that religious belief provides could be their gateway to recovery.
The Truth about Drug Use There is nothing wrong or unethical as to why people try drugs. Socializing, relaxing and gaining confidence are normal, but taking drugs on the way there is the problem. More often than not, it leads to erosion of one’s humanity. If the Devil wanted to inflict maximum sorrow on humankind, this is his way of doing it. A similarity between substance abuse and religion could be important in total rehabilitation. The lives of drug users revolve around their substances, as do religious people to their faith. Where they live, who they spend time with, what to spend money on and what they do for leisure all have something to do with drugs. If Gospel therapy is successful, the positivity of religion could replace all thoughts of drug abuse. It will take time to eradicate addiction, as such with things ingrained. It also helps when the family of the afflicted is involved in the process. Spiritual healing is unlike traditional psychology, and that’s a good thing. It employs methods that use the truth of the Gospel to full effect. It’s important that the Gospel therapist have a conviction to his faith to pass on its benefits to those who need it most.
