Memoriscape Life may be some sort ofPeriodic landscape Hill and valley, river and lake Rejoys in sunshine Rests in moonlight Ephermal yet eternal I will plant my happiness on the peak Bury sadness in the valley Marking directions little milestones with pride In this indexical process I am nothing but a collection of memories In this vast landscape Called life Maybe time is the only instrument With which I can be my own cartographer To excurvate this memoriscape And you know what often touches me Are the things that i have forgotten Or vaguely remember Maybe my memory is also yours And in yours I could search for mine
Formally, the memoriscape echoes the dried miniature landscape gardens in the traditional Chinese or Japanese culture, where a piece of nature is recomposed in a miniature scale to signify the longing for the greater nature, functioning as a sign, evokes the memory or imagination or the real nature.

In plan, It is in a circle shape as circle is the only platonic shape that does not infer any directionality or encounter the awkwardness of egde. It also address the four sides of the squrish courtyard equally without placing any bias.

In elevation, a strong directionality is stressed facing the entrance. As people enter the corridor and move towards the sculpture, a distinct landscape profile is exhibited. As they move closer, the landscape profile is diluted. Attention is redirected to zoom into the pieces of memory that were collected on the memoriscape. Similar to the experience when we visit a real mountain: we understand its shape from afar, but it becomes formless as we are embraced by it.

The visitors are given small sheets of aluminum cut out to write down their memories: could be a date, a name, a sentence, a story, a drawing, or anything that’s dear to heart.
