“Atria” Apartment Complex

Located in Hawthorn

Six floors – predominantly apartments

Two sub-basements – parking and storage

Constructed around 4 “cores”

Materials and Construction ●

Concrete –

Good in compression, not so much in tension

Slab – reinforced with “post tensile strands.”

Construction joint – allows for monolithic structure

Transfer slab

Piles – reinforced with “ground anchor” - similar composition to post tensile strands – keeps

Columns – thin - designed to be concealed within walls
