Brunch spots for a special day out with mom

By Benjamin Getz Yelp Atlanta Community Manager

Mother’s Day is May 10 and, more than likely, you’re planning a meal with your sweet mama. If cooking isn’t your thing, but you want to treat mom to a nice meal, we’ve got five quintessential Mother’s Day Brunch spots that are, of course, both Yelper and mother-approved.

4th & Swift

If you’re eating off a plate that has the mark of Jay Swift, you’re bound to have a great (albeit memorable) meal and one that surely wow all moms being celebrated. Do a quick search for “Mother’s Day” on their Yelp page and you’ll see why this spot is at the top of so many lists for special occasions. 621 N Ave., Old Fourth Ward.

South City Kitchen

Easily one of the most notable Midtown Brunch spots and one that serves up all of the southern faves – fried chicken, she-crab soup, and fried green tomatoes. Their Mother’s Day Brunch is a prix fixe menu. Looking for that favorite son/daughter award? Taking mom here will make you a shoe-in. 1144 Crescent Ave., Midtown.

Two Urban Licks

Show off your “cool kid” prowess for mommy dearest with a sunshine-y brunch date on the patio overlooking the Atlanta BeltLine with the Downtown skyline off in the distance. These cool cats are doing a menu for dinner as well. Hey, moms eat dinner, too! 820 Ralph McGill Blvd., Poncey-Highland.

Murphy’s

If you haven’t had brunch… or lunch… or wine… or, well, anything from Murphy’s (Ahem – Tollhouse Pie!) then you’re not truly living. Take mummy here for a brunchy Sunday and maybe for a quick tour of shopping for a new fancy hat through a few shops along Highland Ave. Brownie point, folks. 997 Virginia Ave, Virginia-Highland.

One Midtown Kitchen

2617-B Talley Street

Decatur, GA 30030

Phone: 404.687.9911

Fax: 404.687.9177

Another fantastic concept from the folks at Concentrics and another fancy-schmancy spot for a delightful brunch. The bonus? Once you’ve finished your meal and a few mimosas, take a quick cruise through Piedmont Park and grab a swing overlooking Lake Clara Meer with those pretty Midtown buildings in the background. 559 Dutch Valley Rd., Piedmont Park.
