The Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) will host the first Dining in the Dark on Oct. 9 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, 800 Spring Street, from 4 to 8:30 p.m. This unique fundraising event is designed to raise awareness about vision loss, with all proceeds benefitting CVI. Guests will experience a sumptuous three-course meal served in complete darkness. The featured menu will be designed by Chef Todd Ginsberg of The General Muir and hotel Executive Chef Damiano de Nicolo. CVI is also partnering with members of the Atlanta Police Department SWAT Team, who will serve as wait staff for the evening, using night-vision equipment to navigate the dining space in the dark. The Chattahoochee Nature Center welcomes top local chefs for its annual outdoor tasting event Harvest on the Hooch on Oct. 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. Guests will enjoy a variety of seasonal farm-to-table fare paired with samples from local craft breweries and wineries. There will also be live bluegrass music, garden games and tours. Tickets are $45 in advance; $55 at the door, if available. Children’s tickets are $15 (ages 10 and younger are free). Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q and Taqueria del Sol raised $36,924 during their recent Foxeria del Sol fundraiser. The funds go to Hogs for the Cause, a nonprofit for pediatric brain cancer outreach services in the United States.
