Intowners open their doors to show off seasonal decor

If you’re looking for decorating inspiration or just like the idea of wandering through some beautifully decked out homes, Intown has an array of tours on tap this month.
Avondale Estates Tour of Homes & Holiday Market
The Avondale Estates Tour of Homes and Holiday Market will be held on Dec. 11 from 3 to 8 p.m. (the market is open noon to 6 p.m. at 58 Lakeshore Drive). This year’s tour spans almost 90 years beginning with two Avondale “originals” built when the city was established in 1926, a recently renovated ’50s bungalow, and a ’60s era home that has been completely renovated. Virginia-Highland Tour of Homes
Tour the beautiful neighborhood of Virginia-Highland during their 22nd annual Virginia-Highland Tour of Homes on Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Dec. 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be eight homes on this year’s tour, ranging in style from traditional bungalows to modern arcitecture. The event will include food tastings from local restaurants including Atkins Park, Apres Diem, DBA Barbecue, Highland Bakery, Fontaine’s Oyster House and many more. Tickets are $25. Peachtree Garden Club Christmas Home Tour

The 2016 tour will feature four distinctive Buckhead homes on Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance at peachtreegardenclub. org or $30 the day of the event.
Home for the Holidays
The annul home tour began in mid-November and continues through Dec. 11, benefitting the Southeastern Horticultural Society’s Children’s Learning Garden and Farms. This year’s show house is at 2490 Woodward Way, which has been decorated by some of the city’s most noted interior designers. The home is open for tours Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets are $25. For more information, visit, atlantaholidayhome.com.

Grant Park Candlelight Tour of Homes
The 36th annual tour will feature eight homes in this historic neighborhood on Dec. 10-11 from 6 to 10 p.m. There will also be other events happening that weekend in conjunction with the tour, including the annual Winter Wonderland, which includes activities and games for kids and the chance to meet Santa, and the Artist’s Market at St. Paul United Methodist Church featuring unique, handcrafted gifts. A candlelight Christmas concert will also be held at the church on Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance $25 at the door. Visit candlelighttourofhomes.com for more information.
