hen you submit a job application, there’s a good chance you are competing against hundreds of people for the same position. If you do not do everything you can to stand out from the crowd, you might not get the opportunity to interview for the job of your dreams. Attending job fairs makes it possible to streamline the job search process and meet with several different recruiters in one day, but you still have to know how to make a good impression. Try these tips for standing out from the crowd when you attend job fairs.

EMPLOYER PROFILE: GEISINGER COMMUNITY MEDICAL CENTER March 5, representatives from Geisinger Health System will be on hand at the Great Northeast Job Fair to discuss available career opportunities. They look forward to meeting job seekers who are “motivated, committed to learning and have the desire to embark on a meaningful career with a progressive, steadily expanding health system.” Fast Facts • CMC’s $97.1 million expansion project is the single largest investment in healthcare in NEPA history. • Employment at G-CMC grew by 7 percent during the past year. • CMC has 1,428 employees as of January 22, 2014. • Applicants must submit their resumes electronically; no paper resumes are accepted. • Geisinger hospitals have computer stations available for applicants who do not have home computers. The G-CMC expansion project is bringing new services and technologies to the hospital and the community. Patients will benefit from the 14-room operating suite with hybrid OR, brand-new intensive care unit with eICU capabilities, and additional clinical space. The goal is to build the most comprehensive and integrated health system in the Scranton area, which will give patients access to expert care close to home.
