Four ways to get the dream mentor Whenever you want to achieve some target, the easiest way to it is to find a mentor. The benefit of a mentor is that he/she is a person with prior experience of reaching the same target. The mentor already has been through all the pitfalls and knows all the tips and tricks that you need to know in order to get the target much more easily. They already know all the life lessons that you need to know in order to exactly know what do. The two misconceptions regarding mentorship include: a. The relationship with the mentor has to be a rigid and formal one. b. You need to know the person already. In fact, knowing the person or having a rigid relation is not at all necessary. In fact, your mentor can even be one with a friendly relation or a person that you have never known for that matter. You can actually find a person, learn their history and start taking their advises right away. Just follow these easy steps:
1. Pick a person Your mentor should be a person that inspires you. You should be a fan of his/her personality and the person must have expertise in what you are trying to achieve. For all this to work, you need to know a lot about them. They don’t even have to be alive though. A dead person from the history can also be your mentor.
2. Know their personal work Study all their personal work and find out about them as much as possible. If you do not know their method of working, you might fail to know their point of view. This will pose many problems in your learning process.
3. Find out other people’s works about them If they are famous, other people might be talking about them too. Try to find all blogs, news articles, commentary or reviews that you can find out about them. It is useful to see another person’s perspective on the person that you want to follow. Sometimes you fail to observe certain qualities or aspects that other people might have noticed.
4. Take notes Record all their philosophies, life lessons and any big turning points in their lives that you might find important and compare them with your life and where you stand right now. You will probably know the distance that you have to go through in order to achieve your targets.
