What to do when the going gets rough? We’ve all had hard times in our lives and we all eventually get through them. However, for some people, going through them is easier than the others. In order to make things easier for you, you can remember the following important tips:
1. What is, is According to a famous saying from Buddha, the cause of suffering for people is basically their resistance to “what is” (the present). It actually means that we suffer when we resist how things are and we wish that they were different. The easy solution to this problem is, take an action when you want to change things; however, if you cannot, then accept them as they are.
2. A situation is a problem only if you perceive it so Happiness is majorly dependent on perspective. A problem is one as long as your emotions have a negative perspective on the situation. However, if you learn to deal with the situation, it is not a problem anymore.
3. Change yourself to change the situation The outer world is mostly a reflection of the inner world. Hence, it can be safely said that the people who think that the world is chaotic and out of control, are mostly chaotic and out of control on the inside. Therefore, if you really want to change the circumstances, start thinking more positively. To do so, you may start working out, meditating or doing yoga. Even though it might feel superficial, the technique actually works.
4. Failure is a self-created concept According to many philosophers, failure is merely a concept created by your own brain. As Thomas Edison said that he did not fail at inventing the bulb the first ninety nine times. He actually found ways to not invent the light bulb. Hence, if you perceive failures as learning points, you will know that you actually pass after you learn a lot.
5. If you don’t get something you want, know that you will get something better It’s hard to believe that you actually worked really hard for something that you did not get. However, always remember that if something like this happened, there is something better in store for you.
6. Appreciate the moment Know that the present will never repeat itself. Hence don’t let it just pass by; appreciate it and live it to the fullest. Remember that you will regret it if you spend it with sadness and sorrow. Don’t let it go unproductive either. Do what you think is important and needs to be done.
