This is your guide to “play” as you Live, Work, Play and Get Involved in Reston. We hope you enjoy this issue; it is packed full of programs and events this summer. We are pleased to provide a wide variety of offerings for you to experience at your Reston Association facilities and open space.

Reston boasts beautiful open space for all seasons, we invite you to bundle up and visit our parks and participate in the many programs we have to offer. Enroll your child in an activity or try out an environmental education, fitness or pickleball class for yourself.

Your Reston Recreation and Environmental Education team is excited to deliver our traditional recreational programs and to offer you something new this summer through the following activities:

ƒ Please take the Community Survey May -June, we need your input on the future of RA facilities.

ƒ Know anyone interested in a summer job as a lifeguard, maintenance position or camp counselor? We’re hiring.

ƒ Purchase a Recreation pass to visit pools, tennis and pickleball courts.

ƒ Visit our 72-acre Nature Center trails, join a naturalist-led walk, or Spring Festival, or enjoy a film.

2023 RECREATION PASSES ON SALE NOW (valid January 3 – December 31, 2023)

Connect, Experience & Play t his summer when you purchase a yearly recreation pass. Connect with the community by meeting new members and catching up with old friends. Experience our tennis courts and the various features they offer — 8 and under 36-foot yearround hard surface, clay surface, lighted facilities, hitting walls and 4 drop-in pickleball courts. Visit our pools which include something for everyone — lap lanes, heated pools, hot tubs, diving boards, spray parks, shaded picnic areas and water slides. Community fountain features add to the fun. We hope this pass will allow you to Play this summer and experience all that Reston has to offer.

EARLY BIRD PASS SALE DISCOUNTS HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED. REPLACEMENT PASSES: $5

‘Companion Pass’ for persons with disabilities available by request.

All pass holders may bring guests to the courts and pools. Single guest passes valid for one day must be purchased at the admission desk at any RA pool or with a court monitor at one of the RA tennis/pickleball courts. Reston Town Center tephraica.org/festival

Now in its 32nd year, the Tephra ICA Arts Festival, formerly Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival, will showcase more than 200 artists who are creating unique, handmade works in the fields of fine art and craft. With a foundation in contemporary visual art, the Festival is comprised of one-on-one experiences with artists, vibrant public performances by interdisciplinary artist Hoesy Corona, and engaging activities for art enthusiasts of all ages.

Reston Concerts on the Town is back in the Pavilion this year! The summer concert series produced by RTCA will launch on Saturday May 20 following open hours of the Festival.

AQUATICS & SAFETY COUNTDOWN TO SUMMER

Pool season is right around the corner and the Reston Aquatics team has been busy preparing the pools for your enjoyment.

Facility Information

Lake Thoreau is progressing generally on schedule, At the end of February, we will be approaching the halfway point of physical completion of the project. Grand opening information will be out as the completion date approaches. Morning and evening Fitness Hours have been accommodated at other south Reston facilities. Shadowood is in the design stage with the final conceptual and initial construction documentation being drafted by the engineers.

Renovations will include but are not limited to, the following repairs: full chip out (removal) of all old main pool plaster layers, re-plaster of the main pool, removal, and replacement of main pool coping stones, removal, and replacement of main pool tile, replacement of all main pool lights with LED fixtures, and resurfacing of bathhouse floors. Unlimited Fitness Pass
