Kids Fish ng Derby
Bring your fishing rod or borrow one of ours to compete in this fun morning of fishing. No experience necessary. We’ll provide bait, prizes and light refreshments. A fishing license is not required for kids. Adults are not permitted to fish during the kids’ fishing time. Register by June 7.
Volunteers are needed to teach kids how to fish and help with the event. Contact Ha Brock at 703-435-7986 or habrock@reston.org. Volunteers must have a Virginia State Fishing License (freshwater only) available online at www.GoOutdoorsVirginia.com.

Learn about Reston’s participation in this national citizen science project. Volunteers are needed to collect data on the abundance and phenology of caterpillars and other arthropods during the spring and summer. Held via Zoom.
Make a 52-gallon rain barrel from a recycled pickle barrel. Rain barrels collect water from the roof and store it for later use. To register, visit https:// www.fairfaxcounty.gov/soilwater-conservation/rainbarrel by May 5. Limit 2 per household.

Brush Chipping
Drop off your brush at the locations below, and RA crews will chip it for use on RA open space. Branches should be less than 4 inches in diameter. No grass clippings, dirt, trash, paper, vines, thorns or other debris. Brush may be dropped off at the Central Services Facility (12250 Sunset Hills Road) at any time during the days listed. RA members only. No contractors.
