Are You A Builder Or Wrecker I watched them tear a building down, a gang of men in a busy town, with the swing of a wrecking ball, the sidewall fell. I asked the supervisor, “Are these men skilled, the kind you hire if you would build? He laughed and said, “No, not at all! Just common laborers are all I need! They can easily wreck in a day or two that would takes builders years to build. So I said to myself, as I went away, “What part in life am I playing? Am I a builder, doing the best I can? Or am I a wrecker who walks through life content with the labor of tearing down?” The world we live in today is always tearing things down and not many are trying to build things up. I believe as we go through life the Lord wants those of us in the body of Christ to be builders. We should be building lives and not wrecking them. This world is in trouble from the White House all the way down to our cities. We see that lives are being wrecked everyday and although we know that bad news travels fast, the media seems to focus on the negative and not the positive. There are those whose life have been wrecked and appears they will never be able to recover or build their life up again. I believe God has anointed many of us in this day to help build the lives and influence the people around us in a positive way. The next time you get ready to say, the wrong thing about somebody asks yourself this question. Will my words help build this person’s life or wreck their life? If the answer is NO, then ask God to give you the right words to say, the bible teaches us in (Isa 50:4 KJV) “The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.” This should be our desire to speak a word in season. My prayer is Lord help me to be a Builder and not a Wrecker.

Women’s Day 2011

W

Colossians 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful omen in every good work, alking orthy and increasing in the knowledge of God;…

Our 2011 Women’s Day Celebration theme:

"Women Walking Worthy"

This great event held on April 11th, was a fabulous occasion the entire day! It was a pleasing combination of qualities, to observe these women of God, in white attire. It was a wonderful site looking over the congregation at the smiling faces. They were not only delightful on the outside but also there was a glow coming from the inside. Exemplifying that, Walking Worthy is a way of life and a way of living for us! Yes, we must present our bodies a living sacrifice, HOLY and ACCEPTABLE unto GOD. Showing the attributes in which the scripture speaks of “Living uprightly in the approval of the Lord, giving fruit in every good work, and developing in the knowledge, the discernment and insight of God,” was evident! This day will not be forgotten quickly, it was wonderful to see “Ministry in Motion” dancing effusively worshiping God to the song “Enter In” by The Anointed Pace Sisters. We were extremely grateful to have Evangelist Shun Pace be a part of our women’s day celebration. We all know that God used her in a mighty way. She surprised the house and sang a selection from her newly released project “Reborn” entitled: Gotta Keep Going On, You Can’t Stop! Dr. Mary K. Baxter of Ocoee, Florida was the guest speaker for this celebration! Dr. Baxter shared her testimony with us where Jesus Christ Himself took her for thirty nights, three hours each night into the different parts of hell. She shared how hell is located in the center of the earth and that it is a body lying on its back. Jesus took her into the legs, arms, belly, jaws and heart of hell. Oh, the horrors, no one in their right mine would want to go there. Men, women, girls and boys came to the altar; some rededicating their lives back to God and some gave their souls to God on that day, what a celebration! Overall 2011 Women’s Day was HEAVENLY!

Tornado Destroys Rehoboth Church of God In Christ

On Wednesday, April 27, 2001, the southeast was faced with 11 deadly storms that swept through and destroy many lives in several Georgia neighborhoods. The death toll from those storms alone reached 329 with 15 in Georgia, one in Kentucky, two in Louisiana, five in Virginia, 34 in Tennessee and Mississippi with the majority occurring in Alabama at 238. There were thousands injured, countless homes, businesses, hospitals and churches were destroyed. Yet in the midst of all the devastation, God’s mercy still showed bright with numerous stories of how He spared and saved many lives.

under the desk. Once under the desk, his further instructions to her were to throw the pillow over her head and pull the chair under the desk opening. Mother Pace did not hesitate to be obedient to the voice of the Lord, and that’s when she heard a loud clashing noise and realized a tornado had touched down in Barnesville. When the tornado passed through, all she could say was LORD THANK YOU for sparing my life. As she laid there she heard water dripping and decided to see if she could find a bucket to catch the water so it would not damage the church. Unbeknownst to her she would look up and see the sky instead.

Mother Bettie Ann Pace, Pastor and Co-Founder of Rehoboth Church of God in Christ in Barnesville, Georgia have such an amazing testimony. Mother Pace, her daughter, Phyllis and church member LaShawn decided to visit the church that night to handle some business matters because they believed the storm would dissipate by the time it reached Georgia. However, while in her office Mother Pace heard a different kind of noise. Immediately, the Lord spoke to her and told her to get up from the sofa, grab a pillow and crawl

Later Mother Pace, her daughter, Phyllis and church member, LaShawn made it out of the building and immediately reflected on what transpired inside the church and how they miraculous survived the deadly tornado. The tornado had collapsed the ceiling in the sanctuary which would have allowed the women go out the main door. Also, a wall supporting a different section of the church had crumbled making it almost impossible to escape. However,

On July 22, 1956, Sunday evening around 7:15pm, the late Superintendent Murphy Pace, Jr. and Mother Bettie Ann Pace received a bundle of joy weighing 6 lbs and 7 ounce. Yes, Murphy Pace, III was born! He was the first born of ten children, and the “ONLY” male child. At the age of three, he became a member of Hapeville Church of God in Christ, where Elder John Cooper was pastor. He graduated from C. F. Harper Elementary School, W. F. George High School, Andrew College with an A. A. Degree in Music, and LaGrange College with a B. A. Degree in Religion. He also studied for his Masters Degree at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta. He was honored in Who’s Who Among Students in Junior College and in 1984 he was included in the Outstanding Young Men of America Yearbook.

July 22, 1956 - February 16, 2011

During his last year at LaGrange College he was anointed for a new phase of the ministry…Pastoring. Elder Pace was only twenty-four when God called him and told him to preach. During that time he birthed the renowned Powerhouse of Deliverance Church of God in Christ. Powerhouse was organized October 1980, at a storefront located at 1580 Flat Shoals Avenue in Decatur, Georgia. Six months later the Lord blessed the church to relocate to 714 Fraser Street, Atlanta, Georgia.

In September of 1984, the Lord led Pastor Pace to Barnesville, Georgia. Once in Barnesville, he put up a tent in the heart of the city and many that were oppressed, depressed and possessed of the devil found deliverance. On September of 1985, at the age of 29, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the late Bishop J.D. Husband ordained Pastor Murphy Pace, III "Superintendent" of the Southside Atlanta District, thus making him one of the youngest superintendents in the Church of God in Christ. Then on December 7, 1985-1997, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Liza Renita Williams. Pastor Pace was known for his outstanding leadership in the communities of Atlanta. His ministry was not limited to the local church, but it served as an outreach ministry that was known in many parts of the world. Bishop Pace’s love and dedication for God, many souls were won to Christ through his ministry. In 1995, God spoke to Murphy Pace saying, "You are my Joshua. Go in my strength." He embraced this mandate so seriously that he legally changed his birth name (Murphy Pace III) to Murphy Joshua Pace (M. J. Pace). He was a giant in the gospel music industry. The musical contributions of Bishop Pace were a testament to his artistry. He left the gift of songs in 3 bodies of recorded works that charted Billboard and continues to bless the church: "Didn't I Tell You" 1997; "Strongholds" 1993; "Looking for the Promise" 1992. In 1996, M. J. Pace was elevated to the Bishopric. In April 2010, Bishop M. J. Pace published his first book, GOD IS IN THE SABBATH, a simplistic and comprehensive expository of the 4th commandment (Exodus 20:8).

Paris is the capital city of France, situated on the River Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Île-de-France region ("Région parisienne"). This beautiful region is where Fanny, our lovely exchange student has inhabited since 1991. It was my wonderful pleasure to have interviewed, a lovely and sweet-spirited young lady in the body of Christ, whose future exceeds the greatest possibilities that life may offer. While Fanny was studying in Paris, the professors of her college ask the students to go overseas to other countries, especially English speaking countries to study at a partnered exchanged university. The well participated student exchange program became popular after World War II, with the aim of helping to increase the participants' understanding and tolerance of other cultures, as well as improving their language skills and broadening their social horizons. Fanny decided this would be a great experience and made the decision to participate in the program. It is through this amazing experience that after arriving in Georgia, her quest to find a place of worship began. When asked how she found Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ with all the availabilities of churches and ministries here in Georgia, she replied, “This is a long story!” While she was in France, she was told that there were a lot of churches in Georgia and she would be fine! However, when she got here, she felt there were too many churches to make a choice. Upon her arrival, she visited several churches and found them to be very uncomfortable. Fanny was desperate to worship where God would have her to be, that she prayed and asked God to lead her to a church. She said I want to be in a place where God wants me to be.” She stayed true to her God, and searched for two months until she found a place of worship. Fanny was led to visit a big church downtown where she saw one of her professors. She told him she was looking for a church home that was Pentecostal. Her professor advised her to go to the internet and “Google” to find the type of church that interest her. Determined and driven, Fanny made a list of churches she had found, with Holy Trinity being the third or fourth on her list. She went to website and began reading up on the churches on her list. Fanny moved down her list to Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ and began her personal inspection of the information provided, in wisdom, yet with great desperation to be in a true place of worship. Fanny listened to several preached messages of Pastor Martin, saw videos of the services, and read the autobiography of the Co-Pastor and felt it bore witness with her spirit. After careful review of the website, she made her decision.

The very next Sunday, Fanny caught the train on her journey to find Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ; to what she felt would be her new church home. To her discouragement, she got lost for an hour just walking and searching everywhere, trying her very best to find the church. Fanny said to the Lord, “I give up”, but if you really want me to go to Holy Trinity, please help me to find my way.” Shortly, after her prayer she found her way to the church. Fanny was late to service, but not defeated, and made a vow to come back the following Sunday!

God for what He’s doing and for what he will do. You can sing and also dance and now I know how to dance! Q: I noticed you sang on one of the programs. How long have you been singing? A: I have been singing since I was five years old in my children’s choir, the young people’s choir and I am on Praise Team.

Q&A Q: What was your first impression when arriving and seeing the church building? A: I was lost and only wanted to find the church, so I didn’t look at the building. I thought it was beautiful, bright and was glad because I saw lots of young people. This was my first good impression.

Q: You mentioned Fanny that the Churches in France are a bit subdued or reserved. How do you compare the preaching style to that of Pastor Martin? A: Pastor Martin is very much a man of God and when he preaches, it’s like he is on fire! He wants you to understand what the word of God is for you today. I really like his preaching because he is sincere and talks about other things that other Pastor’s do not talk about, like sin. I really like that!

Q: Do you remember the message when you first came to the church? A: I don’t remember the entire message but some ideas. I remember he talked about relationships and the fact that we have to be on good terms with people no matter what type of relationship it is; whether it is a love or friendship relationship. It talked to me a lot.

Q: What do you sense is the call of God for your life? A: The call of God for my life is to be a light for the people of my generation and especially I think, through praise and worship. I also want to help young people; and young women when they deal with some areas of their life like love, relationships, and school. I really think that God is guiding me this way.

Q: How is religion where you were raised in France? A: We don’t have freedom of religion. The state is superior from religion. We don’t have the right to talk about God and pray; we are not free at all. It’s a bit hard sometime to express ourselves and find good churches to attend. Sometimes we are stigmatized. It’s very hard.

In closing, I asked Fanny what she thought her life would be like upon returning home and how would she implement some of the things she has learned here? Her profound answers read as follows: I hope that my life will be better. I really hope so! I’m ready to go now and I think that I will be stronger than I was before; stronger to face some events that may arise. When I go back to France I will share my testimony with everybody to tell them that I really had a good church in the United States and that I really had a good Pastor too; and that no matter what you are and how you see people, that when you have that kind of man of God in your life, it is amazing and it changes your life because he has the right word for your time! This is very important in these times. I will tell other people I had a great church even if I was the only, little French one; that I met a great bunch of people, good people, and nice. Most of all I will say, that wherever you are in the world, when you are a Christian, you have a family!

Q: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you here? A: The funniest thing I remember and it’s not a bad thing, but once again it’s about the church. In France we don’t have this “Praise Break,” and when I first got here I said,” What are they doing?” It was astonishing and funny! It still is! Q: Do you understand it now or what is your understanding of all this exuberance? A: Yes, at first I did not understand why the people dance like that. I had some questions but dared to ask. One time I asked one young woman and she said it was a way to praise

Congratulations 2011 Graduates I truly did not understand what my mother was talking about when she told me she was searching for a new church home. At the time, I was four years old when we came to Holy Trinity. Upon our arrival, I became extremely nervous and realized I was about to embark on an adventure that was unfamiliar territory to me. When we entered the church, I noticed it was small, and had a feeling everybody knew each other’s name and I also sensed the love in Holy Trinity. Over the next few months we continued to visit until my mother decided we would become members. I have some wonderful memories over the last fourteen years. One of my most memorable experiences that I will never forget is when I turned six years old on Resurrection Sunday. I remember just before Pastor did the benediction, the entire church sang Happy Birthday to me. Although, I was a little girl I realized at that time church was not just a place where people worship, it is a place where people fellowship, genuinely care for one another, and help each other in their time of need. Throughout the years, the life lessons I have learned from the church have given me the courage to say I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me (Philippians 4.13). I have learned that with God all things are possible, and I can do all that I can to be successful in life. Throughout my journey at Holy Trinity Church God in Christ, I have encountered a plethora of experiences that I can take with me now and in the future. With sincere humbleness, gratitude, and dedication I am a graduate of the dynamic class of 2011 of Benjamin E. Mays High School. I graduated with numerous academic honors: Top Ten Percent of my class, member of the National Beta Club, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and a student of the prestigious Science and Mathematics Academy. As I attend college at Tuskegee University to further my education, I will take all the memories and teachings I had at Holy Trinity Church of God In Christ. Hello my name is Kira Isaacs; I am 18 yrs. old and a recent graduate of Tri-Cities High School in East Point, Georgia. When I was four yrs. old my mother and I moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Once there, I started attending Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ at the young age of 5 and officially joined when I was 6 or 7. I have been an active and faithful member serving on the usher board, praise ministry and the youth department. Although, I am a young adult, I must say joining Holy Trinity was one of the best choices in my life. I have a great Pastor and Co-pastor, who has consistently fed me the Word of God. When I was 16 yrs. old, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and at that time, thought God was punishing me for my wrongs. However, because of the word that I was being taught and the great leaders, I realized I was not being punished but that sometimes things happen in life that we must learn to deal with them. I have been able to deal with this disease and overcome it with the help of my mother, my leaders, church family and my own personal relationship with God. As I attend college, I plan to major in Stage Management and Production Design. My career goal is to complete college with a B.S. Degree in Science and to stage manage shows on Broadway, and eventually produce my own shows.

Before moving to Atlanta I pretty much lived MY typical fairytale lifestyle. I was a military child traveling around the world for several years enjoying the luxuries of what my parents had to offer. During that time, I was definitely taught the necessary tools and essence of hard work, trustworthiness, and independence but I never had to fully exercise those particular responsibilities until moving out on my own. Yes, it was enormous and a sure leap of faith, but one of the best life lessons I have had by far. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia approximately five years ago with huge aspirations and goals, some of which I have attained and many that are still in progress. My journey throughout life so far has taught me, “Life is what you make it.” By saying that, I have learned the importance of prioritizing, dedication, and growth (mentally, emotionally, and spiritually). I started attending Holy Trinity approximately four years ago, after visiting a few churches only to find myself dissatisfied with my experiences. I recall speaking to one of my co-workers at the time, and telling her about growing up COGIC and not being able to find a church home. She immediately said, “Girl, you’re COGIC, I have the best church in the world for you to attend and in my mind I am thinking “everybody says their church is the best church.” So, September of 2007, I found myself at Holy Trinity feeling like I was at home again. Everything about Holy Trinity had the feeling of a COGIC church from the people, preaching, and strong presence of God. I was so moved by my experience that is was almost unreal. After visiting several times and feeling the reception and acceptance from the members towards my daughters and me, I knew in my heart Holy Trinity would be my new found home. Yes, Holy Trinity is definitely the best church. I attended college in Columbia, South Carolina and received a degree in Early Childhood Education. After receiving my degree I decided to return to college and obtain a degree in Communications and Technology. I am excited to say that on June 26, 2011, I will earn my degree and completely satisfied about the outcome and possibilities this degree will generate.

Conquer Your Brave New World It is my sincere privilege and honor to congratulate you on your graduation. This is a tremendous accomplishment that initiates the start of a journey into a broad new dimension. As you embark on this journey, my prayer is that you remain focused. Keep your eyes on the prize and let nothing, or no one lead you astray. Prepare yourself for a brave new world. I pray that as you start off this next phase of your life, God will allow you to seek and find wisdom. For those of you choosing college as the next step, this is especially important to you. I know from personal experience that it is extremely easy to get sidetracked by different things. College students – and really new, impressionable high school graduates in general, are constantly being offered chances at new money, new love, new sex, new experiences that they are not accustomed to. Everything under the sun is placed at your feet, and if you are not careful you will become entangled and begin to desire things that are not of necessity. However, I am reminded of the words of King Solomon in Proverbs 3:13 - "Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding." King Solomon understood this, and thus chose the gift of wisdom over that of riches and power. Because of his choice, God blessed him with wealth not seen by any other men throughout history and long-standing peace along with respect from neighboring countries. My brothers and sisters, let us not forget what the overall mission of collegiate studies – and essentially life – is: to achieve higher learning. Yes, the extra boost in pay that comes with a degree is nice. Yes, finding love on your college campus is wonderful. But before any of that, know who you are first and foremost: a student. It is your job - your duty - to constantly learn. Be a student in every endeavor, every situation and circumstance. There should never be a time where you are not learning. Otherwise, the time spent in your new dimension, your new phase in life, will be a waste of time. Seek knowledge. Seek wisdom. Seek understanding. And find success. Again, I pray that you all are successful in your endeavors. Let this journey and the rewards to follow be prosperous for you. I pray for your strength to face the trials and obstacles that are to come. However in the same breath, I thank God for the victory and the blessings that are SURE to come. Remain true to your God and true to yourself. Strive for nothing short than greatness. Conquer your brave new world. Minister Brandon McKinney

Ways To Get In Shape This Summer The summer is quickly approaching! That means there is enough sunshine to get outside and do some exercises to get in shape. I want to share, especially for the ladies, a lower body routine that will tone all the trouble areas. We’ll start with three basic exercises. Take 30-45 second between each exercise before moving on to the next exercise.

1.

Squats – Stand with feet shoulder width apart and lower yourself slowly as if you’re about to sit in a chair. Make sure your knees do not go pass your toes. Keep your stomach in and keep your back straight. When your legs are parallel to the floor, push up slowly with most of your body weight on your heels. For more of a challenge, you can add weight. Beginners should aim to complete 2 sets of 10-12; intermediates should aim to complete 2 sets of 15-20; and for the advanced person they should aim to complete 3 sets of 15-20.

2.

Standing Side Knee Raises – starting on the right side: lean over to the right and put about 90% of your weight on your right leg, place the toe of your left leg on the ground, raise your left arm straight over your head. In one motion bring your knee and arm together squeeze your right side and return to the starting position. Do 2 sets of 15-20 on each side.

3.

Standing Chair Pose - Stand with your feet about shoulder width apart (but no wider). Bend your knees, lowering your body as if you were about to sit in a chair. Try to get your thighs as close to parallel to the ground as you can while standing. Lean your torso forward at an angle, bending at the waist and keeping your hips above your heels. Raise your arms in a stretch straight out above your head, holding your arms in a direct line with your spine. Hold your arms parallel with palms facing inward, or touch the palms together while you breathe deeply and hold this position. Hold the position for 30 seconds to one minute, maintaining regular breathing. Return from the pose by straightening out the legs and inhaling, momentarily reaching upward through the arms. Spread the arms in a stretch all the way back down to your sides. Do three sets.

These three exercises are just a few that will aid you in getting in shape for the summer. Do these consistently, 2x a week for 8 weeks (along with a healthy diet) and you will see results.

Men still cry,

WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED? The Bible provides a clear answer. Here are the six scriptural steps which all must Travel to pass from death unto Life.

ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR SIN - Romans 3:23. First, see yourself a sinner. Sin is tragic and vile. It blights, degrades and destroys. “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.” “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.” Cry out like the publican, “God be merciful to me a sinner.” REPENT – Acts 3:19 – Second, you must repent and be truly sorry for your sins. Like the prodigal son see the awfulness of it. The Bible declares, “Godly sorry worketh repentance.” Jesus said, “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” CONFESS - 1 John 1:9. Third, confess your sins. Not to men, preachers or priests, but to God. “With the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” David said, “I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord ... Thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.” FORSAKE - Isaiah 55:7. Fourth, be willing to forsake sin. “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he ... will abundantly pardon.” Sorrow and fear for sin are not enough in themselves. One must be sorry enough about sin to want to be done with it once and for all! BELIEVE - Romans 10:9. Fifth, believe in the finished work of Christ on the cross. Believe in the substitutionary character of it; that He died for our sins not His own, but that “the chastisement of our peace was upon Him.” Our sins nailed Him there, and “with His stripes we are healed.” “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” ACCEPT - John 1:12. Christ must be received personally into the heart by faith, if the experience of the New Birth is to be yours. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. “Will you pray – Being convinced that I am a sinner, and that Christ alone can save me. I NOW accept Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour and will by His help, confess Him before men. John 6:37 ... All that the Father giveth me shall come to me, and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. Christ must be received personally into the heart by faith, if the experience of the new Birth is to be yours. Rev. 3:20 ... Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if any man (this means you) hear my voice and open the door, I will come into him and will sup (abide) with him and he with Me. Luke 12:8 ... Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the son of man also confess before the angels of God.
