When coauthor Diane donated close to 50 hours writing a public relations plan and press kit that included fact sheets, bios, and news releases for the first San Diego Women’s Business Grant, she knew the contacts with top female entrepreneurs would be beneficial. But when, she wondered, would she be able to point to positive cash flow as a direct result of the effort? Two days after the grant luncheon, a woman who had seen her name and photo in the event program and had seen Diane stand up during introductions, called for an appointment. The next month, Diane’s firm began providing public relations services for the woman’s company.

For 4 years Jeff Harper, president of Capitol Communications and vice president of the Canzeri Company, a full-service public relations and events firm in Washington, D.C., donated his services to coordinate and produce the Nancy Reagan Annual Tennis Tournament for the “Just Say No” campaign.
