Positive News Edition STYLO DONATE PPE TO NHS AND FRONTLINE WORKERS Stylo, along with the rest of the world, had never known times like this. The COVID-19 situation threw them into one of shock and uncertainty and forced them to re-think how we go about doing things. Stylo wanted to help those in urgent need, and you cannot miss the global plea for PPE equipment across all NHS facilities and frontline services. Therefore they began making the face shields. Using stock material they had in their Watford HQ, they were able to make several hundred masks and donate them to Watford General hospital and doctors’ surgeries local to their offices. From there it just continued to grow. The company made as many as possible with the materials available to them and now the total has risen to over a thousand.

After sharing their story on social media, they have been inundated with kind messages and thanks. The reaction has really been quite amazing. So much so that a local corporate client asked if they could increase their output if they were to help with some funding. With this help they are now closer to producing upwards of 1000 face shields per week and are looking to improve this further. Stylo have also shared their cut files to a hundred plus companies for them to make their own shields and distribute locally. The NHS and all the carers are the real heroes here and that’s why Stylo have decided to continue to donate PPE across the UK, and further to this are looking at other ways they can help this important and rewarding service. MEMBER NEWS LEACH LAUNCHES ONLINE STORE IN RESPONSE TO SOCIAL DISTANCING GRAPHICS DEMAND Graphic display specialist Leach has made its first foray into online retailing, with the release of its new ‘social distancing’ product line – available to order from today. Making sure to follow Government guidelines, Leach has pledged to support those organisations which remain open currently and require essential Coronavirus-related graphics, as well as retail, hospitality and leisure brands which will be looking to install such signage when outlets begin to re-open. Since the onset of the UK’s COVID-19 pandemic, the Yorkshire-headquartered company has already seen a surge in demand for informative window, floor, and wall graphics. And, with over 10,000 square metres of social distancing graphics having been ordered in the past month alone, the firm is now printing hundreds of stock visuals which can be purchased through a dedicated virtual shop. Given that a large proportion of Leach’s museum, exhibition and leisure sector customers are postponing significant orders, the branding specialist has pivoted its usual business approach with the launch of its e-commerce arm and social distancing range.

James Lavin, managing director at Leach explained: “If you do venture out to buy essentials, no matter where you’re headed – be it a local shop, supermarket or pharmacy – most will have a poster on the wall or markings on the floor reminding you to keep your distance. “And, when the world eventually manages to emerge from this pandemic, our lives – and the way in which we socialise – will inevitably change, not least in the short term. As such, these infographics will become an integral part of our lives, in the same way that ‘no smoking’ or wayfinding signs have. “Although some firms need these graphics now, I have no doubt that museums, restaurants, retailers and the exhibition sector will recover – and will each want to make sure that they have all the necessary signage, communications and branding in place when that time comes. And, the procurement of such collateral needs to be simple, and hassle-free.” Contact: t: 01484 551279 e: impact@weareleach.com w: www.leachimpact.com

MEMBER NEWS UNIBOX SUPPLY PROTECTION SCREENS TO NIGHTINGALE HARROGATE’S CANTEEN Responding to an urgent request for protective equipment at the newly-opened Nightingale Hospital in Harrogate, the team at Unibox have supplied a range of free-standing ‘cough and sneeze’ screens for use in the NHS staff canteen.

Despite only having a fraction of its regular workforce present at its Manchester-based production facilities, Unibox designed, manufactured and then delivered all of these screens directly to the hospital in the space of just 18 hours.

The simplicity of Unibox’s flat-pack design meant that each unit could be slotted together quickly and easily by on-site teams without any tools.

Its entire team is beyond delighted to have been given the opportunity to use its capabilities, resources and expertise to support the country’s health service as it battles to bring the Coronavirus pandemic under control.

The screens sit as physical barriers against the spread of germs and viruses as workers take a muchneeded break during their shifts; something which plays a crucial role in helping to ensure that they are able to treat patients both safely and effectively.

MEMBER NEWS BIG BRANDS DEMAND GREEN PRODUCTS AS LEACH LAUNCHES ECO RANGE Graphic display specialist Leach has revealed the latest ‘eco’ additions to its portfolio, following 12 months of research and development alongside a focused industry study.

Leading the charge, the newly-launched Eco Screen is made from 100% recycled yarn. This state-of-the-art textile can be used across a range of fabric graphic communications, with minimal impact upon the environment.

The Yorkshire-headquartered company has invested over 100 man-hours into its latest product suite over the past year – designed to further bolster its long-held ‘green conscience’. Now available to customers, the 16 environmentally-friendly materials are PVC-free, recycled or recyclable – with a ‘return to base’ model encouraging users to send back any obsolete graphics for onward recycling. Gaining customer insight, Leach has also recently polled the opinions of 164 decision-makers from some of the world’s leading brands – including Vauxhall, Arcadia Group, Estée Lauder and Beaverbrooks – in order to establish what really matters when it comes to visual installations. The Leach Box meanwhile, is the latest iteration of the firm’s lightbox. With power consumption having been reduced by 30% and having slashed manufacturing time in half, the new design centres around a reduction in carbon footprint.

Over half of the respondents said that being ‘green’ was a strategic priority for their board, with 49% stating their company’s investment into environmentally conscious products would increase in 2020. Interestingly, 64% of people said purchasing decisions were made with the eco impact in mind.

Leach has always been committed to reducing its carbon footprint. In 2008, the firm received the Queen’s Award for James Lavin, managing director at Leach, said: “It’s no its investment into products incorporating LED lights for secret that the environmental issues in society have pushed energy efficiency, changeable graphics to promote companies to adopt a greater ‘eco stance’ – in the quest to reusability, and lightweight rollable solutions to reduce ensure business remains strong while striving to protect the transport costs. planet. “Leach has always been of this mindset, but we’ve taken things a step further with the launch of our complete eco range. We’ve already received some fantastic feedback and, importantly, these greener solutions have no detrimental impact on the high-quality results provided – the ‘wow factor’ is still extremely apparent!”

SAINSBURY’S USES UNIBOX FOR ITS QUEUE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS With strict social distancing guidelines having been enforced nationwide and with anxiety levels amongst the general population showing no signs of fading, being able to establish safe, calm shopping environments is of vital importance. To this end, Unibox is applying its wealth of experience in working with extruded aluminium profiles to create queuemanagement solutions for one of the UK’s major supermarket chains, Sainsbury’s.

The team at Unibox worked alongside Sainsbury’s to develop a solution which is light-weight enough to ensure that staff are able to move units between key areas of a store yet robust enough to withstand extremely high levels of usage. Featuring a combination of aluminium uprights and robust steel bases, these queuemanagement barriers have a decidedly more assertive design than other more makeshift solutions such as overturned trolleys, yellow tape or traffic cones. By installing Unibox’s barriers both outside and inside of its stores, Sainsbury’s has successfully enabled its customers to purchase the essential items they need without putting themselves at unnecessary risk and maintained safe working conditions for its staff.
