After a hard-fought judging process, the EE Studio at Westfield took the Store Design of the Year category, while YourStudio was named Design Agency of the Year.
Woolworths South Africa were named as winner of the Judges’ Choice Award, crowning their multi-year Award streak. The Judges had praised the work Woolworths does with local South African communities, with which the company collaborates on many of its windows.
Christan Boshoff, Woolworths Visual Merchandising Creative
Director explains: “We always aim for our Christmas windows to be more than just beautiful, commercially successful displays. With this project, we meaningfully reached out and gave back to our local communities. It’s a true honour to be recognised on a global stage with the Judges’ Choice award.”
Continued Page 2.
YourStudio was delighted to be crowned the Design Agency of the Year in the category’s inaugural year. Holly Simpson, Chief Operating Officer at YourStudio commented: “YourStudio is incredibly proud to be the first design agency awarded Design Agency of the Year at The Creative Retail Awards. We’re thrilled to receive this honour, recognising our growth over the years as we expand to our new LA outpost. The award is a testament to all our amazing team and our incredible clients who allow us to create pioneering, industry-first experiences recognised around the world.” Seen Studios was awarded Highly Commended in the category.
Another new Award for 2024 was the SDD Concept of the Year via public vote. Chosen from the top 10 concepts of 2023 from Shop Drop Daily, the public voted through a system on the Awards website with the winner, ZARA Barbieland Immersive Pop-Up, receiving the highest number of votes.
The Judges of the Awards were enthused by the calibre of the entries in 2024. “It’s great to see that, despite the disruption of Covid, the strain of inflation and the pressure of a cost-of-living crisis, designers are still knocking it out of the park when it comes to creating creative retail that can stop you in your tracks,” says design and marketing journalist Matthew Valentine, a member of this year’s Judging panel.
SDEA Members who were awarded Winners and Highly Commended on the night included B_RD, MEGA Creative, Peluca Studio, Kesslers London, Design4Retail, Unibox, Displayplan, HOL Group, Whippet, Northbanks, Propability and Unibox - a huge success for the Association.
The Creative Retail Awards has become a much-anticipated fixture in the industry calendar. Hundreds of entries in 22 categories have been pored over by this year’s panel of expert Judges. Categories recognise excellence in specialist areas such as in-store scheme, lighting, shopfitting and technology, and in specific retail, leisure and hospitality categories.
Entries for the 2025 Awards will open in October. To view the full list of categories, Judging criteria, and images and video of the 2024 night, visit www.creativeretailawards.com

With NHS waiting lists at a record high there has never been a better time to start medical cover. HMCA has launched My Care Card with a range of affordable plans specifically with the under 50s in mind.
You may think you can put off taking out medical cover until you are older, but you should remember not to leave it too late. If you are diagnosed now, with no cover in place, you may well find you cannot get cover for this condition in future.
All My Care Card plans come with 24/7 access to a private helpline and app, so you can speak to a GP anytime you need, wherever you are. All our plans provide a cash benefit payable for each night you spend in an NHS hospital, so time spent in hospital will not leave you struggling to pay the bills.
The Gold Plan gives you private medical in-hospital benefits for acute conditions treated as an inpatient like illness, disease or injury. When referred by a GP you will get quick admission into a hospital of your choice at a time and a location that is convenient for you, with the benefits of a private room and en-suite.

Noble Gift packaging Ltd were commissioned by the Anthony Nicolas Group to design and develop a new jewellery display system for Fields the Jewellers.
Noble were asked to build on the success of the new display system they previously developed for the Fraser Hart group. The system had to take on board the larger product mix, while elevating the jewellery presentation and ensuring great visual merchandising throughout the stores.
Noble designed a system that ensured all the products were perfectly presented. It needed to be modular & adaptable, easy to set up & maintain visual standards, while ensuring the product is always the focus of the customer journey. A combination of brushed silver, chrome detailing and luxury leatherette complimented the finished concept. Hidden magnets were used within all the display components to help maintain VM structure and neat product pricing. The new display system is scheduled to roll out across the elds estate in Autumn 2024.

Formbar Limited, the specialist Trolley and Basket supplier are very pleased to announce that they have reached key milestones in July 2024.
It is 5 years since Hannah Lewis took over as Owner and Managing Director of this successful business in July 2019. Hannah had in her original ambitious business plan that in year 5 Formbar would need to move to a bigger office and set up a showroom for customers to visit.
On the 19th July 2019 Formbar Limited moved into The Cart Shed, a small barn conversion office in Oxfordshire. On the 19th July 2024, exactly 5 years later, Formbar have moved into Willow Barn just across the courtyard from The Cart Shed. This impressive two-storey barn conversion has more than three times the office space, plus a large meeting/showroom.
This move is a fantastic way to celebrate the continuing growth and success of Formbar Limited. Hannah said “I am extremely proud of the growth and development we have achieved at Formbar in the last 5 years. Taking on a business, even one I knew so well, is always a risk but I knew that if I stuck to my business plan we could grow with sustainable progression and achieve my plan. With 5 of us regularly at the office now, plus others hot desking, we had outgrown The Cart Shed exactly as planned. The opportunity came up just to move across the courtyard to Willow Barn, we now have all the space I think we should ever need, and we have been able to stay at his beautiful old farm in the wonderful Oxfordshire countryside. The Formbar warehouse has grown too in the last year, taking on more and more space to accommodate our customers requirements.”
As we look forward to the next 5 years we will continue to proudly represent Marsanz and other European manufacturers of trolleys and baskets in the UK market. By supplying these products we can guarantee continuity of supply, use only high quality raw materials, supply products that adhere to all safety standards and have long warranty assurance. With our inclusive and family friendly business culture coupled with our drive to continue to improve our environmental sustainability we are already a business of the future and we are well placed to push for year on year success.

Seasons Garden Centres required directional and descriptive signage to be hung and attached to the planting area and benches.
Graham Davey of Artisan Signs, based in Kettering, explains why the choice of materials was so important to the client: “The garden centre required a robust and lightweight product that was weather resistant so it could be hung or attached outdoors. They also wanted a product that was environmentally friendly and recyclable after use; they therefore selected Triaprint as their product of choice.”
Triaprint® is a cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and recyclable alternative to the use of PVC and PUR foam boards. It is an extruded polypropylene sheet consisting of three layers. The central layer is a cell-structured core with smooth outer layers perfect for digital and screen printing. The cell-structured core gives Triaprint® its characteristics of high rigidity and high compression strength while remaining low in weight.
Paul Neale, Product Manager at Antalis, commented, “Triaprint was the perfect solution for this brief. The key attributes of this 100% polypropylene sheet are its lightweight yet rigid structure, recyclability and, with corona treatment and UV absorbers added, you can be guaranteed excellent printed results for both indoor and outdoor applications.”

HOL Group are excited to share the benefits of partnering with their manufacturing network for wooden hangers, offering efficient, ethical, and compliant solutions. Here are some key reasons why our European manufacturing capabilities stand out:
European Manufacturing
Choosing European manufacturing for your wooden hangers means more than just supporting local businesses. It also significantly reduces the carbon footprint of your products compared to far east alternatives. The geographical proximity translates into lower emissions from transportation, aligning your brand with environmentally conscious practices and helping you meet sustainability goals.
3-4 Week Lead Times
Speed to market is crucial in today’s fast-paced retail environment. The company’s European facilities boast lead times of just 3-4 weeks for wooden hangers, which is a third of the time compared to far east manufacturers. This rapid turnaround allows you to respond swiftly to market demands, manage inventory more effectively, and reduce the risk of stockouts.
10,000 Hangers Manufactured Daily
With a production capacity of 10,000 wooden hangers daily, HOL Group offer the scalability and efficiency to meet high-volume demands. This significant output ensures they can provide competitive pricing which rivals far east manufacturers, giving you both cost savings and quality assurance.
FSC Certified
The company’s commitment to ethical operations is underscored by our FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification. This wellrecognized accreditation guarantees that our wooden hangers come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits. Partnering with them means supporting sustainable practices and reinforcing your brand’s dedication to ethical sourcing.
ISO9001 Management Systems
Quality and consistency are the hallmarks of the HOL Group, as evidenced by their ISO9001 certification. This internationally recognized standard demonstrates commitment to maintaining efficient management systems and continuous improvement, ensuring that you receive high-quality wooden hangers that meet stringent industry standards.
EUDR Compliant
Starting December 2024, compliance with the European Union Due Diligence Regulations (EUDR) will be mandatory. Their proactive approach means they are already EUDR compliant, setting them apart in an industry where many retailers are not yet aware of this upcoming requirement. By choosing HOL Group, you can be confident that your wooden hanger supply chain meets future regulatory standards, avoiding potential disruptions and penalties.
