In the given site, it is the light that plays a pivotal role in space creating. To explore the interaction between space and light, the scheme is to create space from dark to luminous and from enclosed to open. Additionally, two spiral circulations enabling visitors experience the transitional space at different speeds.

The study site is laneway of the West End in downtown Vancouver. In a small scale, the low-cost laneway houses excavates the essential difference between live and work and it is feasible to redefine the boundar y between each other. The goal is to fulfill an organic combination of both at the end.

Attribute of Rooms
Each unit is combined by six modularized cubes. According to the attributes of each type of rooms, studio better attaches to washroom and has vertical relationship with living room.
The exploration of live and work depends on the diversity and spontaneity. Ever y housing unit is created spontaneously with the same logic that is created by the correlation of functions and spatial characteristics.

COMMUNITY ON THE PARKADE Community Planning 6-week Individual Project Instructor: Bill Pechet
New Westminster has a unique characteristic of historical features. Based on a situation that an imbalance between the new development and its vintage urban infrastucture appears, the chosen object of this project is a historical parkade located on the Front street. It is the goal that to activate the waterfront and reconcile the confliction between the existing structure and new urban requirements. Features of New Westminster
This project explores a balance between the reservation of collective memory and the urban development in three aspects: -maintain the existing function -intensify living activities -correspond to urban features

Another direction of the research is to explore how to make the concrete appears light and translucent. Here tried a variety of medium and cast techniques.
Diagrams Acoustic Map The diagram tries to explore space with sound. By visualizing different sound wave as point, lines, surface to depict the spatial characteristics, our perception of a konwn space changes a lot.
The Path of Beauty The diagram is a summary of ideas from ‘The Path of Beaty’ by Li Zehou, which represents the characters and the journey of Chinese traditional aesthestics.
