QUANTITIES This site is sectional and proportional in design and separated into three core materials: concrete, wood and turf grass. The site is rectangular and constructed using predominantly geometric shapes, having avoided obscure shapes and circles.

QUALITIES The area consists of bright green faux turf grass that contrasts with stained decking and seats and grey concrete. The raised concrete platforms and two alternative styles of seating incorporate wood and stainless steel detailing in their construction, contributing to the overall theme of the site.

SHRINE OF REMEMBRANCE - ANGULAR

QUANTITIES The site is angular in its design, however right-angled shapes are scarce and circular shapes non-existent. The ridged corners create a sharp boundary for the site, which is then reproduced using skewed vertical planes that give the outer walls both inward and outward sloping gradients.

QUALITIES Upon entering the site, one’s sense of the vertical lines is lost. Heading into a downward sloping gradient, the walls both fall away from you and close you in. The site is busy, congested with vegetation and different material aspects.

STRUCTURE The base plan of the site consists of concrete tiling and decking. The concrete walls are gravity defying and reinforced with metal to make them stronger. They are also set deep into the earth; counter weighting the horizontal pressure from the retaining soil.
