A man of great leadership, experience and stature, Dr.-ING. B.J. Habibie is the Republic of Indonesia's 3rd President who served as a leader during Indonesia’s major reformation from 1998 to 1999. As a president and passionate advocator for democracy, freedom of speech and technology, he liberalised Indonesia's press and political party laws and made significant changes to its political system that expanded competition and freedom of speech. His government had also stabilized the economy in the face of the Asian financial crisis that happened within the period.

Continuing his work on democracy and social issues post-presidency, Dr.-ING. B.J.Habibie founded the Habibie Center, a non-profit organization that works on promoting the modernization and democratization of Indonesian society based on morality and integrity of cultural values and religious voices. To this day, he has continued on his work towards various projects that brings forth progress for the people of Indonesia and the world.
