While you pencil in time to soak up the summer sun, don't forget to schedule time to complete these 12 critical activities, setting yourself up for a successful back to school season this fall!
Take time to revisit key concepts from the previous year (especially areas you struggled in).
Read extensively both fiction and non-fiction to improve your vocabulary, comprehension skills, and critical thinking abilities.
Research new extracurricular activities you may wish to participate in this coming year such as, clubs, sports or academic teams.
Reflect on your academic performance from the previous year and set both long and short term goals for the upcoming year.
Sort through your notes, textbooks, and study resources from the previous year and organize them in a way that will make it easy to reference when school beings.
Explore a new hobby or develop a skill that interests you—always wanted to learn to play guitar? Get started this summer!
Practice time management by creating a schedule for the week, prioritizing your tasks, and avoiding procrastination.
Brush up on math and writing skills by practicing free math problems online and writing short stories or keeping a journal.
Seek opportunities to volunteer or intern in areas related to your career interests.

Remember that making the most out of the summertime is all about a healthy balance that allows you opportunities to prepare for the year ahead while also rejuvenating. Be sure to add vacation time, beach days, time with friends, or other activities that help you to unwind to your calendar, too!
