Types of Ball Passing Passing is a very important skill in soccer. Once you make a bad pass, you can possibly lose a soccer match. When passing a ball, it is important that you have a good touch. Passing is one of the many skills in soccer to master. A good passer leads his team to more ball possessions and a bigger chance of winning in a game. It is very tiring to go after a ball; it's very hard to steal a ball. So, when a ball is on you, pass it properly to your teammate. Passing may be taken for granted but once a bad pass is repeatedly happening, don't ever think that you have a good chance of winning. Good passes determines higher chances of winning. To become a good passer, you must be physically fit, you must be a have a good touch on the ball and you must be a team player. However, to fully understand the nature of passing, these two types of passing needs to be achieved and learned well: short and long passing. Literally, short passing and long passing differ in the distance of the passer from the receiver.

Short Passing Short passing uses the inside foot. You will pass the ball using the left side of your foot (for the right-footed) and the right-side of the foot (for left-footed). This is the best way to achieve the accurate pass because this gives a better control and increases the chance that your teammate can receive the ball. However, short passing must be done quickly and accurately. This is to avoid the opponent to steal the ball easily. To make a short pass more achievable, keep the ball low.

Long Passing Long passing is like striking a goal. A long pass uses the tip of your foot. Swinging can make a long pass achievable. This pass is made to find your teammate in space. Arms are also used in this type of pass to balance the direction of the ball.
