Roncales receives Huwarang Mag-aaral 2018 title
For Thy Life bags SiBul VIII’s best film award After the film viewing, results from the consolidated votes of the jury and viewers were revealed.
Mark Justin Antonio of BAB 3A broke down in tears as his film “For Thy Life”, which is about extra judicial killings (EJK) and President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs, was announced as SiBul’s Best Film. “Gusto kong magkuwento about sa lipunan. EJK because nakakabahala na ang laban ng pamahalaan sa droga. For Thy Life is my personal message sa lahat ng mga Pilipino na makakapanood nito,” he shared. As one of the highlights of the College of Arts and Letters’ (CAL) awareness week, “For Thy Life” and three other entries from the 8th Sine Bulacan (SiBul) Film Festival received recognition last May 3 at the Robinson’s Place Movieworld, City of Malolos, Bulacan.
“For Thy Life”, “Evadere”, “Krusanto” and “Sa Katapusan” comprised the line-up of films for this year’s SiBul
which focused on the theme “Beyond the Frames”.
Jose Emmanuel Eugenio, SiBul director, elaborated the meaning behind the said theme.
“To shed some light doon sa mga socially relevant issues at mai-reflect dito sa mga films at mabigyan natin ng pansin ‘yong mga issues na dapat talaga nating tinatalakay,” he said. “For Thy Life” also won Best Production Design, Alt MD’s Choice Award and the Most Liked Teaser award.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo Magsakay of BAJ 3A, won as Best Director for his film “Krusanto”.

College of Arts and Letters (CAL) named BA Broadcasting 4C student, Spencer Roncales as this year’s Huwarang Mag-aaral during the closing ceremony of the college’s 10th anniversary celebration at Bulacan State University (BulSU) Valencia Hall, May 3.
Roncales expressed his gratitude to the college for obtaining the said award. “Punong-puno ako ng pasasalamat lalo na sa ating kolehiyo, sa Kolehiyo ng Arte at Literatura at saka doon sa bumubuo ng komite sa pagpili ng Huwarang Magaaral… at s’yempre para sa aking sarili dahil alam ko na ‘yong mga ginawa ko pala ay nabigyan ng pagkilala ng ating sariling kolehiyo,” he said.
