Linda Yoshizawa’s artwork reflects the mixing of two cultures – Japanese and American. Her nature-inspired drawings are symbols of both yearning and peace. A variance of colors, values, and textures evoke a range of moods, questions, and provide a sense of serenity. Using an innovative approach to printmaking, Yoshizawa produces monotype prints by painting an image in oil on a Plexiglas plate and then rolling over it with water-soluble ink. The image is then transferred onto paper through use of an etching press. Often the prints are then cut and collaged together – a process that is very freeing for the artist. Yoshizawa’s technique requires that she draw a new image for each impression; therefore, every print is one-of-a-kind. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Yoshizawa attended Pomona College in Claremont, California, where she received her BA in studio art. She currently resides in the San Francisco Bay area. Linda Yoshizawa is a member of the California Society of Printmakers (CSP) and the Los Angeles Printmaking Society (LAPS).
