My newest body of work was influenced by a trip to Japan several years ago. While visiting museums and galleries I was impressed by the large, beautiful shoji screens and ancient Samurai armour. Since then, I have developed deep and dramatic textures in a series of paintings that reflect a feeling of strength and protection, yet, are still simple and meditative. I use a pouring process with acrylic paint. The 10 - 15 layers of translucent paint give my paintings a quality of depth. I prefer not to use brushes. Also included in this brochure are several of my large abstract seascapes. These are also done with my pouring process.
