The communities of Auburn and Lewiston host several events each year that embed the values of health and wellness into the culture of the region. These competitive events are family-friendly, welcome all skill levels, and leverage the outdoor assets of the area. People across the region rally their teams, train, register, and race for fun, cash, and a purpose. Check out one of these events:
DEMPSEY CHALLENGE
A fundraising event from area native Patrick Dempsey that supports free cancer care services. This event has categories for short and long-distance walking, running, and biking. ANNUALLY IN SEPTEMBER
TRIPLE CROWN Combining the YMCA Fit Fest, Emily’s Run, and the LA Bridge Run, this event is a triple cause, triple challenge, triple crown, for one community. ANNUALLY JUNE | JULY | AUGUST
TREK ACROSS MAINE Billed as “Maine’s biggest and best family reunion,” this threeday bicycling event winds along Auburn’s Androscoggin River, cuts through downtown, and creates a Tent City at Bates College. ANNUALLY IN JUNE 68
