Since March, Sardinia has been the first area in Italy to be listed as a "white zone". Since then, the popular vacation island has once again been inviting travelers. Who explores Sardinia on the wheel, meets step by step on testimonies of a millennia-old history.

General situation

Almost all regions of Italy are still in lockdown due to high infection rates. However, since March 1, Sardinia is the first area that is officially "white zone". Some weeks the incidence (weekly new infections) was below 50 for that reason almost all restrictions except MNS and spacing rules were abolished. Bars, cafes and pubs are open until 21.00, restau-rants until 23.00. Hotels, agriturismi, museums, exhibitions, theaters & cinemas are also open.

Arrival

Due to the lockdown in Italy, arrival by plane is recommended. Flights to Alghero and Olbia as well as to Cagliari in the south of the vacation island.

Entry

Entry declaration, fever measurement, negative PCR or antigen test (max. 48 h old) Travel ban between regions in Italy, therefore arrival only with airlines (entry from Austria: additional 14 days quarantine and further tests)

Sardinia Biking in Sardinia

Sardinia, the second largest island in the Mediterranean, has recently become a popular season opener for road cyclists and mountain bikers. It is true that bike parks and signposted trails are hard to find. However, many local providers on the island specialize in cycling vacations and rent out good bikes or e-bikes. Bike tour operators in this country also have Sardinia in their program.

When choosing tours in Sardinia, it is best to contact one of the many local operators and arrange a guided bike tour. GPS data cannot be found at Sardinia Tourism, but only in outdoor platforms. Nevertheless, there are many great road bike & mountain bike tours on the vacation island. Sardinia is full of enthusiastic bikers and offers every year also numerous sportive participatory races like Belvi Trail (23.25.04.21), Rally di Sardegna International Mountain Bike (30.05.04.06.21) with distances between 100 and 400 km. Always many hundreds of mountain bikers from Italy and abroad participate.
