Untitled] is an interactive installation that discusses the role of academic research through digital and online media. Created in the context of the first MAA exhibition at Emily Carr University (Vancouver, 2012), the work invites the artist’s closest friends, relatives, and acquaintances from all over the world to suggest possible titles for a fictional master thesis through the use of a web application. Every time a title is suggested, a printer installed in the exhibition space outputs in real-time the suggested titles as official academic cover page. The work becomes sculptural with time in every output of the printer since the cover letters pile up over the floor suggesting the mechanical process involved in the act of writing.
