RGS FOUNDATION CHANGING LIVES SINCE 1675
WE REACH OUT WE CONNECT WE INFORM WE ASK
CHANGING LIVES SINCE 1675 Reigate Grammar School (RGS) was founded through the vision, generosity and philanthropic support of Henry Smith (a successful London merchant and Alderman) and the people of Reigate in 1675. What is remarkable is that the school remains to this day upon its original site. We are proud that we are recognised as one of the leading co-educational schools in the country and there is a clear vision on how we want to enhance our community, broaden social access and develop our facilities as we move towards our 350th anniversary. Through the promotion of a caring environment, we aim to establish long term friendship and association.

THE REIGATIAN COMMUNITY – BEING PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING
NETWORK REIGATIAN
We encourage professional networking, connectivity and support and develop relationships within the Reigatian Community in a professional environment.
We assist those at university or those just leaving university with work experience requests to those taking their first step into their chosen career or who wish to gain advice.
These take the form of ‘RGS Professional Events’ such as networking receptions with industry-specific guest speakers (recent examples include Commerzbank, Royal Academy of Engineering and The Reading Room) as well as social and fundraising events such as the RGS Professionals Charity Golf Day. With over a 1000 members, we invite you to join our RGS Professionals Group on LinkedIn. Simply search:

If you would be happy to offer work experience, advice or become a mentor to Reigatians who need assistance with the next stage of their development, then please contact us so we can connect you.
Alternatively, if you are not on LinkedIn would like to find out more and join the group then please email us and we will ensure that you receive all future invites for RGS Professionals events: foundation@reigategrammar.org

CHANGING LIVES 1675 BURSARY CAMPAIGN The Changing Lives campaign is our social mobility scheme that was launched in 2014. It provides financial support to bright and deserving children whose potential is far greater than their financial means.
The support from the Reigatian Community has been overwhelming, but we still have more work to do, because for every child that enters RGS through this scheme, another is turned away. At present, we do not have sufficient funds in place to offer every worthy child the gift of an RGS education. If you would like to learn about Changing Lives or if you would like to support please visit rgs.foundation
Launched January 2014... Already £3m raised with 29 ‘1675 Scholars’ attending RGS...

SOCIAL MOBILITY FOCUS
Sir Peter Lampl (RGS 1959-1964)
As a community we look to tackle social mobility through the provision of educational opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the local area. This is at the core of what we do and our moral purpose. Schools like ours have both a responsibility to their local communities and an opportunity to play a significant role in helping children from all backgrounds succeed in life and to add value.
“Low social mobility and a lack of educational opportunity is arguably the biggest social challenge of our time…not only is this an individual tragedy for every young person who fails to fulfil their potential, but it highlights a national waste of talent that threatens the future economic health of our country” Sir Peter Lampl (RGS 1959-1964), Chairman of The Sutton Trust
STATE OF THE ART LEARNING CENTRE AT THE HEART OF RGS With completion in 2017, the new centre will host a university quality learning-resource centre, large flagship library with learning zones and e-readers. This has been made possible by the Peter Harrison Foundation with a £4million donation. Chairman and Founder, local philanthropist Sir Peter Harrison KGCN CBE has been connected to RGS for many years, not just through the Foundation but as a former parent. 09
