RGS SPECIALIST SPORTS

We believe in the power of sport in creating good people.

Our games and PE programmes are designed to facilitate both the pursuit of excellence and ‘sport for all’ – offering a wide range of activities and sporting opportunities which put the development of young people at the centre of all we do. We have a team of specialist sports coaches who are continually evolving our programme.

We have a qualified BJA Judo instructor running our new Judo club.

DANCE

Junior Judo for First & Second Form will be held on Thursday lunchtime 13.15-14.00 in the old Library. Senior Judo for 3rd Form -Lower Sixth Form will be on Thursday 16.0017.00 in the Old Library.

We offer a ballet club and a contemporary dance club run by specialist external teachers.

Ballet club takes place Thursday lunchtime 13.3014.15 in the Concert Hall. Contemporary dance club takes place on Monday, 13.30 - 14.15 in the Concert Hall.

C HEERLEADING

B ASKETBALL

A specialist, external cheerleading coach will run this club.

A basketball club will begin soon.

Cheerleading club takes place on Friday 16.00 - 17.15 in the Concert Hall.

Basketball will run on Friday afternoons and after-school from early October.  Timings to be confirmed.

We will be continuing our option of Sailing in Games at Bough Beach for Fourth - Upper Sixth Form

This option will start from February half term.  We also intend to start ‘Learn to Sail’ courses again as soon as possible.

We offer golf in Games and also run a Golf Club at Packersham Golf Club.

Fencing will form part of our second phase of Specialist Sports coming soon.

This is a new club on offer after October half term.

Golf is one of our options for 4th Form - Upper Sixth Form Games afternoons.

Golf club will run for the First and Second Form on Monday 16.15 - 18.00 at Packersham Golf Club.

This will run on Tuesday lunchtimes 13.30 – 14.15.

S KI RACING EQUESTRIAN

We are registered with ESSKIA (English Schools Ski Association).

We are registered with NSEA (National School Equestrian Association).

This season we made it through the qualifiers and went on to represent English Schools in the British Artificial Ski Slope Championships. If you are already ski racing and would like information please enquire with the Head of Specialist Sports.

We will be entering events locally and further afield. If you are already involved in horse riding and would like more information, please enquire with the Head of Specialist Sports.
