RGS SUMMER FESTIVAL TOP CO-EDUCATIONAL SCHOOL IN SURREY FOR THE FIFTH YEAR RUNNING
The Daily Telegraph & Sunday Times
FROM THE HEADMASTER
W
elcome to the 2019 RGS Summer Festival, which allows students to try new things and to showcase the very best of their endeavours as this academic year draws to a close. There are over 35 musical concerts during the year, drama productions every term and weekly activities in sport, art, the Combined Cadet Force and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. As part of the RGS Summer Festival, Activities Week is a chance for the students to enjoy themselves and have fun learning new skills, honing those they already have and putting them into practice on numerous expeditions and activities. Amongst other events, this year will see them performing in concerts, building and racing carts in the Pram Race, jumping out of planes on a parachute course, walking and canoeing in Wales, visiting CERN in Switzerland and acting in our top quality drama production, Honk! I hope that you will be able to join us for as many of these activities as possible, to support
your children and to enjoy the various events. The experiences that children have outside of the classroom are so important. Whether that be on trips to far flung places or closer to home, competing on the sports field, being creative in the art studio, performing in concerts or other opportunities – these are the occasions where character is revealed and developed, and where friendships are strengthened. Please do come and see how we do this best. Of course, none of this could happen without the time, energy and dedication of the staff at RGS; without their support and, obviously, without the drive of the children themselves. We have had yet another amazing year here at RGS and I think everyone is looking forward to a well-earned rest. With my very best wishes and thanks,
Shaun Fenton Headmaster
